Man, Siskauskas had such a great game, but Lithuania lost against Russia and a great Kirilenko. I'd really have like to see Lithuania in the final.

Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:28 am

I don't know what to say... I'm almost crying right now.. We lost... A tragic 1st quarter and a loss.. We were 19 behind in star of 2nd quarter, managed to get back into the game, but still we lost...
Siskauskas had 30 point, but that was not enough..
Jasikevicius had a really bad game again.. 5 points (2/10 FG) 5 turnovers. He made some really stupid passes and mistakes during crucial moments, but still a loss is not his fault.. Russians made some fantastic crucial 3s and we couldn't recover one more time..
It's so sad, dammit. We really deserved to be in the final, but russians (plus Holden) were better today. It just like Athens Olympics. We had no losses till the semifinal, everyone loved the way we played, cause it was really beautiful emotional basketball, just like this year. But we met Italy at semifinal then, we were better all the tournament, but Italians had their best game in whole italian basketball history and won it..
Now a 3rd place game is all we got left.. I should care about that game, cause a bronze medal, is a ticket to Beijing Olympics, but somewhy I don't, at the moment.
Today and the day when we lost to Italy, are one of the saddest days of my life..

Btw It's even harder to lose against Russia. Every Lithuanian know, that you can lose, everything happens, but you can not lose to Russia and Latvia.. That's the rule..

However, I respect my team, they've made a great job before today, and hope they will recover before tomorrow's game.

LITHUANIA
I still support these guys.

I want to cry now

We lost...We fucking lost it, fuck Russia, I hate this fucking country. I hate Russian language, I hate Russia people, I hate everything what is about Russia... Match star was terrible, in second quarter we were losing by 19 points, but we have made a huge comeback, the result was 52:52... But we never had a lead... After our run, was a Russia run... We were very tired after a very difficult quarter-final with Croatia, but Russia had a free day and they had rest. We didn't made a lot of open-jumshots in the first half. When we made theese shots was a comeback, but it wasn't enough to have a lead... I've seen a young kid with Lithuania jerseys...He was crying...All Lithuania is crying now...Basketball is a religion for us...So sad that we won't have a gold this year...But we still can won bronze and reach the Pekin Olympics by beating Greece...

Stop those "hate's" and "fuck's" Debilash, cause you make yourself and our country look stupid and lame.

Everyone can be "clever" when he's not nervous...

Sun Sep 16, 2007 8:13 am

Don't worry men. We'll crush Russia+Holden today and we'll avenge you. Is the best I can say to support your loss.

You probably will, although I don't really care about the final anymore. It's not gonna be interesting, I guess. I wanted to see the "fair final" Lithuania-Spain so much..Well it's just my opinion, maybe Russia deserved it more..

By the way , I think it's not really fair that Spain and Russia had a whole day to rest before the semifinal, while Greece and Lithuania had only ~20 hours to rest and prepare for the next and very important game. Consequently Lithuanians looked really tired today.
It's not an excuse or something, just it's not fair, in my opinion.

Sun Sep 16, 2007 6:17 pm

Russia plays really well in this Eurobasket! Will be interesting final!
Šaras played like idiot! :@ I never seen he played this bad like with russians!
I dont like too Russian langue and russians too! In Latvia russians called URLA :D :D

Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:55 pm

Oh man.......... What i can say..... yesterday I was almost crying.... we lost to Russia.....
What unfair this is, Spain will crush Russians in the final like 30 pts or more.... I don't care about today's game anymore, I'm just emotionally dead at this moment........... ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Today is the last day of EuroBasket. I'm sure that a bronze medal match between Lithuania and Greece is gonna be really tough. I hope that our guys still have some energy and a will to fight left. This game is very important, cause we might earn a spot to Olympics. We should have our "dream team" there (this team + Ilgauskas and Macijauskas). They promised to participate next year, if not injuries, of course.
So g'luck LITHUANIA :!: and have a nice final everyone, whichever team wins, I don't care.

Sun Sep 16, 2007 10:50 pm

If Lithuania score is above 75 there shound't be any problem to beat Greece.

Sun Sep 16, 2007 11:55 pm

I don't know, maybe it's just my emotions, but I still think that this EB was not fair (not just because Lithuania lost). Spain was really afraid of not becoming champions in their own country. The schedule was a total nonsense. I've never seen such a thing (in any competition : basketball, football or whatever), that a team has to play a quarter-final, semifinal and a final in 3 days - day after day.. And that's not the main thing. Spain (surprising duh ?) and Russia, had a day off before the semifinal, while Lithuania and Greece had to play a semifinal right after a very tough and exhausting quarter-final. That's a real absurd. Every team should be in the same situation, especially before a game, which is so important. Consequently Spain and Russia are in the final.. Of course, this may be a coincidence, but I, personally, don't think so.
Also I think that these naturalized Russians like Holden and French like Kirksay, shouldn't be allowed to participate in EB. E.g. How is Holden related to Russia, despite playing for CSKA ? Answer : He isn't. He probably does that for money (since Russians have a lot of them). There are some neutralized players, who have relatives or have other connections with the country they play for, but Holden and some others in EB don't. It's national teams competition, not Euroleague, InterBasket or whatever. I personally would choose a real Lithuanian Jasikevicius, although he is quite seriously injured and can use only 30% of his skills, but still plays for his country, instead of some healthy american, just to win the game. That's low and lame.

By the way, as I said this Eb reminds me Athens 2004 so much. It's like a deja vu.. Here are some facts:

1. Argentina (2004 champion) and Spain (they'll probably win, cause organizers helps them and want Spain to win so much, so let it be) play pretty much the same style of basketball. They play fast, with a lot of 3s. Most of the players are great shooters.
2. Lithuania played wonderful until the semifinal in both competitions.
3. In both comp. we lost a semifinal to a weaker opponent. (at least they weren't favorites before the comp.)
4. In both semifinals Jasikevicius had a poor match, while the only player who led our team was our captain (2004-Stombergas, 2007-Siskauskas).
5. In both semis there was one player, who we couldn't stop. (2004-Basile, 2007-Kirilenko).
6. In a bronze medal match we had to play against a former champion, although they both didn't play well during the competition. (2004-USA, 2007-Greece).
We lost it, though. So please God, don't let this happen again. We really deserved at least a 3rd place.

Go.....

I agree 100%. Holden was made russian citizen by Putin's personal decree after only 1 year of stay in Russia. I can hold him playing at Euroleague as russian because there are tons of foreign players in all major teams, but Eurobasket is about countries and that issue with Holden will not be allowed. Also i personally think since Turkey and especially Israel are in Asia they don't be allowed to play in European competitions.

Wow, that is really dodgy. We have a couple of naturalized Americans playing for the Australian team, but they have to be here 5+ years and legally be Australian citizens.

Holden hasn´t been in Russia for just 1 year, he has been there for 5 years+ next year also. He has been in Cska since 2002. Probably Holden is to Russia, like Beard would be to Lithuania. (I wouldn´t mind at all if he would be made Lithuanian citizen, cauze he has been there for so long.)

EDIT: Good luck in bronze match!!!

Holden has been in CSKA since 2002 and became a citizen of Russia in 2003. So after 1 year of living in Russia.

Thanks btw.

sry, my mistake then

Mon Sep 17, 2007 4:53 am

Congratulations, all Lithuanians...We definlety deserve medals. And we got it. We are 3 times Eurobasket champions, 1 time we won silver medals, but we never had a bronze. And now we have it :D This championship definlety is great for us. I'm so proud of my little country  I believe than if yesterday we would played just like we played tonight, we would be in final... But this match was great. RAMUNAS SISKAUSKAS IS MY HERO... :!: We will play in Olympics again and that's great...Congatulations Panco and Joker. :)

Mon Sep 17, 2007 4:56 am

Panco, time to change that sig and say going for bronze, bud.

Just Spain left, Kirilenko and "Ivan" Holden are gonna finish the job.

Mon Sep 17, 2007 5:17 am

YES :!: We got what we probably deserved. A bronze medal and a ticket to Beijing and I'm really happy with it. Yesterday and today Siskauskas showed once again that's he's a real captain and a best SF and wingman in whole Europe. He's the only one in our team, who never attended a basketball school. Siska learned everything by himself.
Jasikevicius deserved much respect, because he was injured till the 2nd day of tournament, but he still played and gave all of strength to the team. Jasikevicius is a played, who could die for his team. After the final whistle Sarunas started to cry, that tournament was inhumanely hard for him, he got his knee and groin injured, then he got his muscle strained, but never complained or whatever. That guy is a great player and a great man. He has a huge heart. .

It's a bit disappointing that we did not have a chance to face Spain..

I still think that this tournament was not fair. Saras and Giannakis admitted that as well, after the bronze medal game. The shedule was a total nonsence..

Stil a BIG thanks to everyone in Lith team. Thanks for those great moments ! I'm so proud of my little but great country !

Go Lithuania.

Whatever.. We're still going for gold. Just we'll have to wait till next summer.

Congrats, we won the bronze and a ticket to 2008 olympics and by the way how hurts to watch Eurobasket final now, Russia vs Spain, Russia will not have even a chance..

Mon Sep 17, 2007 7:15 am

What a terrible game to watch. A complete offensive disaster. With our topscorers struggling in a way never seen before in the championship. Pau just didn't show and we didnt reach even 60. A complete failure.

And that last shot from Holden :x

Mon Sep 17, 2007 7:20 am

I can't believe it. Literally.. A complete disaster of Spain. I don't like 'em, but I still wanted Pau to win it. Oh well.. It deosn't really matter to me.
