Was VC worth Aaron Williams, Eric Williams, Zo and 2 first rounders?
It would never happen, but you know what trades tend to turn out like when it's demanded - they rarely get the superstars worth in return.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 8:31 am
VC killed his own trade value by playing like garbage, mixed with having one of the worst GM's in recent league history. Iverson's leading the league in scoring and pretty much still in his prime it seems. Sure he's not a great fit for every team, but there's no way the 6ers have to throw him away for nothing.

Is Flite comparing the Raptors and the Sixers??
j/k, raps fans
As most of the people here, I would like Iverson to play with KG in Minny...but, as a fan, that Chicago trade seems like the best option (Knicks pick + players). Mafia better forget about getting AI in Memphis, they don't have the value the Sixers want.

The Raptors are better.
I really want AI to win a ring as a big FU to the lousy Sixers management.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 9:07 am
there are rumors that AI would like to go to Chicago or Boston, and Chicago seems like a good fit since they have trouble scoring. perhaps an Ai/Gordon trade in the works?
Sun Dec 10, 2006 9:21 am
It's amazing when those rumours go around. Around different news websites, it seems to be that AI won't go to Denver since Karl doesn't want him, that he won't go to Boston since they seem to show no interest now, that he won't go to Minnesota since 'they can't afford him', and he won't go to Chicago since they want KG instead.
What a mess, you never know, AI might end up in Miami as a result. I'd not be surprised

You don't live in Carlton Banks' world. Memphis can do anything. Behold the power...stand back & be amazed.
Since everyone is just rambling off starting line ups and shit like that even if it isn't remotely close to being true...
Lakers:
C - Bynum/Brown
PF - Garnett
SF - Odom
SG - Bryant
PG - Iverson
Just watch Ketchup pull it off, just wait and watch. I said wait bitch.

I think I heard that AI wants to go to Minnesota which would be a very good fit for him plus KG would finally have a chance to have someone who can actually play with him.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 10:32 am
But we all know even if iverson joins minnesota, Garnett and Iverson still won't get their championship rings
Sun Dec 10, 2006 11:01 am
we dont know..garnett is one of the best players in the league but never a very good "go to guy" offensively...and garnett is unselfish enuf to accomodate iversons arrival... i think the wolves is the best team for AI...

stupid statement, you never know
Wolves can't afford AI? You'd figure anyone except KG can be traded. They can get a bunch of bench players and win still. Lakers did it with shaq/kobe (fisher, george, grant)
Sun Dec 10, 2006 11:15 am
I think the Wolves owner (Glen Taylor) meant there is little chance we would be able to put together an attractive package that would work under the collective bargaining agreement. I don't think he meant we couldn't afford him...it's just Philly probably doesn't want what we would have to throw in to make the deal work.
You never know though, if Philly becomes desperate they could pull the trigger. Getting a local guy like Randy Foye could be a big selling point for them. However, a lot of things will have to go right for the Wolves to land Iverson. In particular, I think they'd have to get a third team involved.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 11:54 am
AI seems to want to go to Bulls or Boston. I wonder what would it take to make that happen. Bulls would be one helluva team with an attitude though for Skiles to handle.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 12:21 pm
I'm pretty sure he's going to Minnesota!! This is just like the Ron Artest Fiasco

I still don't think they could make it...considering they still have to give up some players for AI...not doubting Garnett and Iverson's abilities and they both deserve a Championship Ring

Shaq best player at the turn of the century
Kobe best player since
Point being, they're not Shaq and Kobe

I dont think Iverson will be traded real soon. So many teams want him, Philly will take a long time to listen to all offers and pick one.

I got bored fucking with trade checker seeing if this could happen. This one is impossible.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 2:55 pm
You idiot.
I'm finding all these Iverson talks pretty exciting. I'm just looking forward to where an icon of the league will start the 2nd half (or last third) of his career.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 4:10 pm
like i said before.....76ers will want young players/1st round picks/expiring contracts and will probably seek all 3 in a trade.
Young players to rebuild with, picks too and expiring contracts to match salary cap rules.
Portland could probably swing a deal because they have all ingredients but they are unlikely to do so.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 4:18 pm
I'm still hoping for Seattle.
I think that wherever he ends up going, its really going to suprise a lot of us. I think it will be something we won't see coming. At least I hope it is. I think it'd be great to pick up the paper and see "Iverson to Utah/Clippers/Orlando" or something like that, o
maybe they'll trade AK for Iverson, iuno. Anyway it will be exciting.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 7:06 pm
no need to really consider what the sixers want in return, philly will make some of the least sensible trades possible.
1991/92:. Making matters worse Charles Barkley had a falling out with management when they did not resign Rick Mahorn. When the season was over he would demand a trade which the 76ers would oblige sending him to the Phoenix Suns for Jeff Hornacek, Tim Perry, and Andrew Lang.
1993/94: Along the way the 76ers continued to retool trading Hersey Hawkins to the Charlotte Hornets for Dana Barros and Jeff Hornacek to the Utah Jazz for Jeff Malone.
http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/phil76/76ers.html
this link will also show that no matter who the owners or f.o. people are the sixers have had a history of over managing themselves since the late 80's.
granted the league is very different now and harder to keep a nucleus together, but looking at their history it isn't just that iverson has made it difficult to keep players around him, they constantly screw up a decent team thinking they are going to hit the jackpot.well the jackpot left when pat croce did, and now i understand why he wanted sniders job.
Sun Dec 10, 2006 8:13 pm
it's hard to see how teams fail to build more than 1 "exceptional" season around AI & KG, but to be fair, these guys are as much to blame as the GM's. It's not their play, but their enormous salaries that rape teams of flexibility. I doubt that any GM would be able to build successfully around these two for the long term.
Mon Dec 11, 2006 12:00 am
Wolves owner Glen Taylor said that he now has rethought his past comments and does have interest in getting Iverson on the Wolves. However, he did say that both Iverson and Garnett have such big contracts that it would be difficult for them to have all that money strapped to two players.
He said if Kevin McHale comes up to him with a trade that makes this team better he will pull the trigger.
Mon Dec 11, 2006 12:13 am
All this is so frustrating.
Right now all I really want is to see Iverson leave this fucking organisation, he deserves something a lot better.
Also the way the management is handling this situation sickens me. When I read that Cheeks told AI "not to come to the Wachovia Center" I felt like punching that motherfucker, that can't be the fucking thanks he gets. Iverson is Philadelphia, the franchise owes him so much, the way how all this is going down is unbelievable.
Any NBA team would be better for Iverson than the Sixers because that bunch of clowns that wants be a management disrespects him like no other.
I'd love to see him play for the Wolves though, they're my 2nd favorite team. Boston would be cool aswell.
I always said that if Iverson gets traded I'll support 2 teams, AI's new team and the Sixers nevertheless because that's my team for ages. I don't know if it's just the current frustration I feel or something else but honestly right now I feel like my days as a Sixers fan are over.
