thats a nice pickup by the Heat, Gansey is a good scrappy player (sort of like a white James Posey)...
and yea its sad to see Ben leave, but i gotta give props to Paxson for putting the pieces together for a better team...
i agree about the Bulls-Heat ECF, maybe the Cavs might replace one of them tho...

Nazr Mohammed seems like a solid signing for the Pistons. He's no Ben Wallace but he should soften the blow a little. I was actually hoping the Bulls would pursue him this offseason but obviously that's no longer feasible or necessary.
Wed Jul 05, 2006 3:20 pm
yeah i think Mohammed is a good pickup. He does a lot of things well, and i think his offensive game hasn't been properly utilised by any teams thus far.

The big question is, if they keep Chandler, who will wear number 3?
Wed Jul 05, 2006 3:55 pm
Assuming Chandler remains a Bull and doesn't give up #3, Wallace could always wear #30, the number he had in Washington when he began his NBA career. James Thomas currently has that number but he probably won't be around next year.

are you kidding, chandler has two choices.
#1. Give the number up.
#2. Be Ben Wallaces bitch.

iKe7in wrote:But now I'm wondering why San Antonio dealt Nesterovic? I thought that meant they were going to keep Mohammed. Does that mean that Duncan plays exclusively at center and Horry starts? Maybe Matt Bonner will get a chance.

It means they will sign Robertas Javtokas
Wed Jul 05, 2006 7:20 pm
Yeah maybe, but don't expect Javtokas to start right away. As Nazr is a Piston and Przybilla is expected to stay in Portland they search for a new Center. Maybe a trade with the Hornets involving Brent Barry and PJ Brown can be done, but it's highly unlikely because Brown and Smith are expected to leave for Chicago.
Ian Mahnimi already signed with Pau in Spain, so he will not be part of the Spurs roster next season. If they can't find a replacement for Nazr, maybe they choose to sign Luis Scola along with Javtokas to fill the void in the frontcourt. But, it has been only a few days in the off-season so far, and I really expect the Spurs to pull off 1 or 2 deals.
Barry, Eric Williams, Beno Udrih and Luis Scola are very likeley to be traded. The 76ers for instance are interested in Udrih. I expect them to bring in a starting Center for the first half of the season (Javtokas may take over in the second half) and a backup PG. Claxton is gone, so they have to look elsewhere. Maybe Beno Udrih + Fabricio Oberto for Steven Hunter and then they trade Brent Barry for a backup PG or they try to sign Pargo.

Bulls may be looking to trade for Garnett one more time; Thomas, Deng and Chandler for Garnett. This is a trade to win the championship really. Would be a great trade IMO. Imagine a frontcourt of Garnett, Nocioni and Big Ben. The only downside I can see is losing two young players that could be a big part of their future in Deng and Thomas. Doesn't matter about Chandler since it looks he will be traded anyway.

Thomas, Deng and Chandler for Garnett
That's one of the decent trade scenerios involving KG indeed
Thu Jul 06, 2006 3:13 am
It doesnt matter that you'd be losing young players. KG is already one the top players in the league and its well, well worth giving up any of the young players for him.

Heh, you made it sound like he was some sort of pokemon or something.
Marquis Daniels digivolves to.... Superstar-mon!
I don't get it though.
Shawne Williams, Danny Granger, James White, Stephen Jackson and now Daniels? I think that they're trying to build another Atlanta Hawks team with the way they are stacking up all of those fowards.

Shawne Williams - SF
Danny Granger - SF/PF
James White - SG/SF
Stephen Jackson - SG/SF
Marquis Daniels - SG/PG/SF
Marquis Daniels isn't primarily a forward. Of course he CAN play the three perimeter positions but I think in Dallas he was mainly used as SG/PG. When I remember right when he and Terry were on the court last year it was Daniels who ran the point and Terry switched to SG. Perhaps Indiana will use Daniels as something like a backup for both SG and PG, even mainly PG.

James White will probably be playing in the D-League this season

They don't need to. Correct me if I'm wrong but the cap this coming year will be about $55 million? The Bulls have more than enough cap room to take on that extra $6.8 million in difference between those salaries, and they would then have about $12 million, which they would then use on Wallace. If his contract was to be $52 million, they could just pay him $12 million the first year and then increase for the final 3 years.
It would have worked, but since Chandler is now gone, and I don't think Brown in place of him in that deal would be accepted, its a moot point now.

Shawne will be used as PF, Granger as SF, White probably won't get much chance this season (as said above - probably D-leauge), Jax won't wear Indy uniform by the start of the season (i hope

) and Daniels will probably exchange positions with Fred Jones. Whoever starts, the other will be 6th man..So i disagree with the "Hawks theory"
Thu Jul 06, 2006 7:58 pm
Shawne Williams as PF? I thought scouts said he has a resemblence with Walt Williams?
Thu Jul 06, 2006 8:24 pm
Yeah, but Bird hinted he would be primarily used as PF. Pasted from
http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/question_archive.html :
Though some fans are concerned Williams plays the same position as Stojakovic and Granger, he is expected to play more of a power forward role as he grows into his body.
I noticed ESPN compared Williams to Walt Williams, in that they consider him a point-forward type with excellent ball skills and 3-point range. I see him as more of an Odom type: a longer, leaner forward capable of causing major matchup problems for the opponents.

I thought he was the 5th overall? Anyway, just goes to show you that Euro players aren't as good maybe in the NBA as projected. Who knows, maybe Bragani will be a huge dissapointment.
Fri Jul 07, 2006 5:25 am
he was 5th, my mistake, but still. He's taken 5th and isnt even good enough to make a roster...
