Looks like the biggest acquisition will be Phil Jackson...

Lakers will be the only team pj will coach for, cavs out, knicks got nobody...

Lakers will trade odem for sure, that's the only player who has some trade value.

Kings may want to give up Peja for Odom

I think pj was fired last season was because lakers wanted to get rid of Shaq and sign kobe...

Did Stephen A. really say Lakers was Larry Brown #1 choice?

Which clearly suggests that Jackson's relationship and feelings towards Lakers' management couldn't be more positive, Kobe supports him 100% and there's no question about him returning. :|

We lol... I agree though, the guy would rot on the bench until Brown's inevitebly fired while in the meantime Sasha Vujacic is shipped off to Europe.

Who would the Lakers give up for the guy who has become the face of the Timberwolves franchise? Shaq was traded in a good, not great deal (hardly an even one) because he wanted out and LA was handing the team over to Kobe. KG hasn't publically indicated any desire to leave and it's not as though he's at a point of his career where building the team around him isn't a good idea.

HoopsHype is a really poor website when it comes to rumours. They just make things up and hope for the best. At least they don't charge for it though I guess, unlike ESPN Insider.

Phil Jackson is not going to NY. NY is in dissaray right with their current personnel. They"ve got the biggest payroll in the Nba. Their biggest star is S Marbury and that's not enough to lure a coach of the caliber of Phil Jackson to go coach them.

I think PJ might come back to LA, with the promises of Caron Butler developing into a great player, Kobe Bryant and whoever they get from Lamar Odom (in case he's traded) things are looking good for next season.

now that Kwame is more than likely leaving Washington, i'd love to see the Lakers sign him to the mid-level.........if he'd accept it!

it'd be great!

Im not to sure who the Lakers could get inreturn from Odom, i was hoping Boozer, but Utah probably wont trade him.
Wonder if Denver would part with Kenyon????
Lakers need some better Defence....

The Nuggets could use Lamar actually... then Melo can move to the 2 spot... and then theyd be:

C: Marcus
PF: Nene
SF: Lamar
SG: Melo
PG: Andre

And the Lakers get Kenyon and if they sign Kwame

C: Kwame
PF: Kenyon
SF: Caron
SG: Kobe
PG: A rookie PG....

But then again... i am dreaming!

Stats aren't everything.
"There people that dominate the ball but don't dominate the game"
Look at Stephon Marbury...He has 8.1 assists per game! 8.1! Shouldn't that mean he is an unselfish player?
How about looking at the fact that Kobe has a 43 FG%, the lowest he's had in many many many years? And for the 13 players that have more FG attempts than him, only AI, Tmac, Arenas, Antoine Walker and Steve Francis have lower percentages than him. Aren't those players largely regarded as selfish players? What does that mean? He shoots bad shots, he plays selfishly. How does he get all those assists? With all those double teams, he's gotta assist sometimes. It's assisting for the sake of assisting, not playing team ball. Kobe made 20% of the shots. And that's not even counting the games he was injured. He was injured more than all the other starting cast. So let's see...

Kobe 20 FGA/games played
Butler 12.8 FGA/games played
Atkins 11 FGA/games played
Odom 12 FGA/games played

I forgot, Kobe also attempts 30% of the team's free throws. You see, Kobe does hog the ball. How would he get so many shots?

How is it that with such an "unselfish" Kobe the team has 329 fewer assists than the league average!! (that's 4 assists per game.) FYI, they are 22nd in assists. Also 22nd in FG%.

Oh yea the APG - APG Opponents = -4.01.
Coincidentally, it happens to be that the Lakers have the biggest assist differential. I think Kobe has nothing to do with it, even though Kobe is the heart of the team. (Extreme sarcasm there.)

Billups and Jay Williams has much less FGA than Kobe.
Tmac, well he is selfish. bleah.
KG is shooting at 50 FG%, would you really want to make that many assists? Plus he played more games. Huh, he only has 16.5 attempts per game, that's 3.5 or so less than Kobe...PER GAME.

As for Jerry Buss being the next Krause...that is totally wrong. Jerry Buss has had very very very few lottery seasons and never hired a person named Tim Floyd. I think not hiring Tim Floyd kinda beats the hell out of the other arguments I could've made.
Bored.

yeah..
i suppose the GM of the team doesn't care how well kobe performs on the court..
but the result of their performance..
they kept losing..
 don't blame the teammates..

Why would Melo want to play SG?

The Lakers could swing Odom in a trade with Denver for Nene I guess, but I'd personally only do it if it involved Nene, a first rounder and some money.

I read that at during the season, the Nuggets wer considering moving Melo down to SG to experiment and see how'd he go playing down there. Don't ask me but I heard Melo was happy if such a decision would have occured.

Melo as SG is possible, after all Iquodala plays SG and Josh Smith even sometimes plays that position.

Still, Philly & Atlanta aren't exactly the best models of a well built team i can think of.
