Stop fooling yourself in thinking that Payton will play a game for the Hawks. Really, look at it from a moral perspective. GP was fucked by the Lakers over the summer, came to Boston -- at the time a borderline playoff team, and became not only their leader but the glue to the offense. He just got screwed by Ainge.

He will not report. Quote me on it. It's the Atlanta Hawks...

I'm not a Hawks fan, so I don't care if he doesn't, anything that happens with him doesn't matter that much to me, but Walker the chucker is gone from the Hawks, and the young guys can now get the shots

Fri Feb 25, 2005 8:26 am

Atlanta is gonna have to make room...unless they waived Stewart for example

Fri Feb 25, 2005 9:12 am

I wouldn't be surprised if Walker doesn't report, either, given how he feels about Ainge.

Fri Feb 25, 2005 9:18 am

Walker is gonna report because i think hes smart enough to know that his only chance at a playoff spot right now is with Boston

Fri Feb 25, 2005 9:21 am

btw whats the consensus? is it true the lakers got carlos boozer or was that a big hoax

Fri Feb 25, 2005 9:36 am

Doubtful. Most trades have probably been reported already.

Fri Feb 25, 2005 10:09 am

I heard from ppl that Toronto was gonna trade Rose and Marshall to Indiana for Fred Jones and J.Bender and someone else. I think someone made this bs up. Is this real or not?

Re: Deadline Day, Webber, Van Horn, Baron, Antoine dealt

Fri Feb 25, 2005 10:29 am

first of all i dont think ainge is that big of an idiot, not as bad as everyone here seems to think. yes payton was playing top notch for us but by trading him now we can give our young PG's a chance to step up in a playoff run, i think the experience should help them alot. odds are payton was walking at seasons end anyway no matter what any rumors have said. walker is in the same situation as payton and he will probably not be in boston at years end. only way i see toine sticking around is if he takes a huge paycut when he resigns and shows everyone in boston alot more than he did the first time around. there were times where he was golden for us then on the next night he would be a curse. his biggest problem is lack of play in the playoffs and thats a big downfall to any player imo. which brings me to my next topic....

webber is a good grab for phily but he also has slacked big in the playoffs before(peja too for that matter) but i think being traded will give him that spark to show everyone that sactown made a mistake in sending him away. the trade also aint that bad for the kings. they already have scorers on the team and inreturn for webber then nabbed 3 big men who dont require the ball all the time. i think thier team will actually flow alot better now that this trade has gone down. being said they probably still could have gotten something more but i do like the idea of not going for another big name player. sometimes having to many big name guys on a team can hurt you.

knicks are dumb imo for thier deals. yeah it looks like they got steals in both thier trades but they are taking on a shit load of money and will be a slave to the cap forever now. it would be one thing if these deals made them contenders to take the east crown but they are still a 7th seed at best, and i personally dont think they will even make the show at all.

i like the dallas trade. van horn has not lived up to what alot of people thought he would do so he gets it worse than he should. he has alot of faults but i think he will fit in nicely with the mavs. if he can understand that he is not going to be a top 4 option anymore and he basicly just has to hit the J when thier other player get doubled teamed he will do fine, if not and he sticks up the joint, well they got him for very little imo so whatever.

if baron davis stays injury free then the warriors got the steal of the deadline imo. i still think its a good deal for the hornets as davis is clearly a risky player to have around. if he keeps getting hurt then the hornets look very smart, if he stays injury free they look stupid. only time will tell on this deal.

nice pick up by the cavs if you ask me. having another shooter always helps, specially when you get a guy like lebron who will command the double team.

i think both the spurs and rockets made themselves better today even if on paper it looks like the knicks got the better of the deal.

I hear that ATL might buy out Payton's contract, and he could end up back with the celtics, lol.

EDIT: I just saw on TNT the heat made a trade. Malik Allen for Steve Smith.

Pending NBA approval, the Charlotte Bobcats made a late-afternoon trade Thursday, sending Steve Smith to the Miami Heat for forward Malik Allen, league sources told the Observer.
The deal sends Smith, one of the Bobcats' captains, to the Heat, where he started his pro career. The Heat approached the Bobcats earlier in the week, with Thursday's 3 p.m. trade deadline approaching.

Allen, a 6-foot-10 forward, has played the last three seasons with the Heat. This trade gives Smith, 35, the chance to play on a title contender; the Heat has the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Fri Feb 25, 2005 11:39 am

why the hell would he choose the celts? fuck it join SA or miami.. course he wont get any playing time in both but he'll have short minutes for def. purposes (eeek!!) and he'll help out any contending team.

i wouldn't mind having payton gone. josh smith- more dunks, more time to develop a consistent jumpshot; josh childress- more shots; this is (for now) Al harrington's team, and tahts (Y) for him. you know he'll give you like 25 a night now

EDIT: about the trade above, WTF!?!

Steve smith has already won a ring. he stated he likes being on the 'cats! he said he doesn't care for another ring and loves playing for the 'cats.

Fri Feb 25, 2005 11:48 am

I think the Warriors made a great deal today, Baron will add alot more backcourt offense with J-Rich, and The Warriors had plenty of draft picks, so I think they made a great move

dsigns: I thought I was the only Warriors fan here lol, it's good to know theres more.

Do the Knicks have any C's now?? :?

Have you seen Marcus Banks and Delonte West try and run the offense? You watch the Celtics with Payton, and you watch the Celtics with Payton on the bench -- there's a huge difference.

The Celts used to be strong at the PG position; now, it's arguably their weakest.

And what about Al Jefferson? I don't want Toine taking minutes away from our (really) only untradable player.

Oh, and reports before the trade were that Payton was looking for an extension.

Remy D. wrote:I hear that ATL might buy out Payton's contract, and he could end up back with the celtics, lol.

I heard that too, which would totally reverse my feelings on Ainge. I mean, I got a bit heated because of what he did to GP but now I realize that Payton's never gonna play for Atlanta and he probably knew what was happening the whole time. Ainge could come out as a genius in all of this.

J-Smoove wrote:why the hell would he choose the celts? fuck it join SA or miami.. course he wont get any playing time in both but he'll have short minutes for def. purposes (eeek!!) and he'll help out any contending team.

I was thinking Miami too. Payton would push Jones to the bench and Wade as the permanent two-guard(though Wade's game has a ton of aspects featured in those of a young-Payton, more above the rim though). Attaining Payton, along with Zo which is inevitable, will make them the ultimate favorites in the East. But if GP stuck with the Celts, they could easily run away with the division and the number three spot.

With regard to the Hawks they have released Kenny Anderson and incumbent Chris Crawford to make for their new 'additions' so i guess there's room for Payton - for now anyway...

30+ players moving to a new team in one day - insane stuff... :!:

they still need a C (dunleavy is starting at 4..)

i thought troy murphy was starting at 4 and dunleavy played 3.

They had to make room for Payton for the trade to go through. They'll reclaim Anderson and buy out Payton tonight or tomorrow.

PG : B. Davis
SG. J.Richardson/Pietrus
SF. M.Dunleavy/White
PF. Murphy/Skita

yeah, well he will now. before the lineup was

speedy
fish
jrich
dunleavy
foyle

now it'll be

bdiddy(when healthy)
jrich
dunleavy
murphy(still dono why he's not in their lineup)
foyle

im thinkin that GS will either continue with the new lineup, or just go with the lineup with fish and put murphy on bench

Fri Feb 25, 2005 2:17 pm

J-Smoove wrote:murphy(still dono why he's not in their lineup)

Murphy wasnt on the lineup for a while because he had a thumb fracture, but I think he's going to be starting now.

PG- Baron Davis
SG- Jason Richardson
SF- Mike Dunleavy
PF- Troy Murphy
C- Adonal Foyle

Yeah, the Warriors trade was a risk, because Baron has back problems, but I think it was very much worth the risk.

Go Warriors!

Finally 'Toine is back in Boston. I feel sorry about GP, but now my Celtics will start kick ass. Bu the way: Moochie Norris is back in Houston.

Fri Feb 25, 2005 4:01 pm

Baron dropped 15 pounds while he was injured and is at 215 lbs now, and he's been working, so hopefully the back problems won't reccur.

Fri Feb 25, 2005 4:03 pm

Will Antoine Walker get his #8 back, or will Al Jefferson keep it? And did you guys notice something about yesterday's games? Webber and Mashburn didn't play, due to "Acquired via trade today", but Rodney Rogers did, and he was included in their last trade. What? Where? Why?

Mashburn is injured :lame: and well.....some coaches prefer to keep the newly acquired player from immediately player.....I mean C-Webb hasnt even practiced properly n got use to Philly yet....he'll prolly play the next game whenever that is.....n well Rogers isnt really a guy u gotta make plays for.....C-Webb's a guy u have to make plays for n use....
