But he still could have a higher overall shooting percentage if he takes even more inside shots which could possibly translate into more points per game...

.417*3 = 1.25 points per shot
.513*2 = 1.026 points per shot

because he shoots so well from the arc. .417 from three is the equivalent to shooting .626 from the field. While I doubt that he'll shoot quite as well next season and he doesn't take a ton of them, taking less threes might marginally improve his overall field goal percentage but would certainly hurt his effective and true shooting percentages. He'd score less if he took the same amount of shots, but more inside.
