1. Players on the last year of their contracts, so they suddenly give a damn and play their asses off for a season trying to get a long-term deal and be lazy again.
2. Egos.
3. Flops.

Sat Jan 26, 2008 2:47 am

I actually was a big fan of NBA on NBC but TNT has always been good.

Benji, yeah I'm playing retro now  , it's always good to see you around.

Sat Jan 26, 2008 5:13 am

1. bust contracts (a lot of them)

2. Flopping

3. Joakim Noah screaming (it's good to show emotion but sometimes it's a little bit way too much)

Sat Jan 26, 2008 10:18 am

1) Western All Star jerseys
2) Miami/NY/Chicago
3) Carter being accused of playing without care because he got a new contract, but its really because the offense is run through RJ now

Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:37 am

carter is a worthless bum, the man has no heart and is simply in the nba for a pay check

well your all entitled to your own opinion, but I am kind of homeristic of VC because I am a Raptors fan and really appreciate everything he has done for Toronto in the past, but still he is much better than how he's playing now and it's because Jefferson is the main man now and Josh Boone and Sean Williams get more touches than him too some games

Sat Jan 26, 2008 2:46 pm

i gotta ask the question, how can you like carter for what he did to toronto?

Sat Jan 26, 2008 3:08 pm

+1 Sauru.

What the hell is wrong with you? This guy made one of the biggest disses anyone could make to a team by not trying, lowering his value, and getting his former team potatoes in return. Granted, I blame Babcock partially, but what Carter did was really unprofessional.

Well if you look at the last part of Carter's time in TO obviously any Raps fan woudl be upset on how he went about solving his situatuion. You guys are focusing on the negativity Carter brought to Toronto which was little compared to the positive stuff he did for Toronto. Before Carter what the hell were the Raptors? They were just some bullshit team nobody ever felt would get anywhere. He put the team on his back for about the first 5-6 years of his career and performed at such a high ability to draw comparisons to MJ, Kobe, and whoever else. He took us the farthest this organization has ever gone which is 7 games against the eventual East champs. it's not my fault i don't stick to the shit that people put you through, you suck it up and keep on goin, think about the good old days where the memories were all glory. Carter was unprofessional in his last years, but the organization is also to blame. Players like KG and Kobe, ran their organizations. Whatever they said the management took to their heads and tried adjusting for their franchise players but that Cock guy and Grunwald paid no respect to Carter at all when he tried to tell them what would be best for the organization.

Players like KG and Kobe, ran their organizations

Kobe was willing to play when the season opened with the aftershock of what he did.

KG was willing to play but the team benched him instead in the last few games of the regular season (injury, yeah right).

Carter didn't want to play.
And in the games he played during that time he played half-man half-ass not like the half-man half-amazing Carter everyone knew.

I'm not talking about during games, I'm talking about offseason things like signing players, new coaches, new GMs. I remember one offseason (I think his last in TO) when Carter was saying something about wanting Dr J to be GM and a lot of other stuff about coaches he liked that were fired after he talked to the GM about not firing them, while on the other hand players like KG are listened to by their GMs on free agent signings and what not.

Sun Jan 27, 2008 2:35 pm

1.) Jamaal Tinsley sitting out games for fake injuries again. Thought we left this crap behind.

2a.) Troy Murphy's defense

2b.) Troy Murphy's offense

2c.) Troy Murphy's dribbling

3.) Jeff Foster not playing 48 minutes a game.

But Vince has never been as good as KG. Comparison to MJ were nothing more than coming out of the same college and their jump/dunk ability with Vince on top probably.

Vince was not in a position to ask for anything in that organization IMO, he was always injured, didn't want the team to get any progress unless it was with his damaged brain suggesting changes of staff, coaching, etc. The team in general looks better than ever without Vince. And now with NJ, he's supposedly happy, playing with a great PG who has his head in the air too, that's why they get nowhere.

The high-flying facet of Vince's game was definately a major hype up for him, but remember he did average 28/6/4 in his third season after a 26/6/4 sophomore year. He was most definately one of the leagues very best young stars and it looked like he was only destined for greatness 3 years in.

Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:56 pm

Vince Carter is probably comparable to Derrick Coleman in that he has the tools to be better than he is and potentially be a very dominant player but doesn't have the mindset. It's not exactly a fair comparison as Coleman's career took a sharper downturn quickly into second/third banana status before becoming a journeyman and Carter is still a fine player with better than average statistics but like Coleman back in the day he seems unlikely to become the player he was once expected to. That's the only similarity though, their games are completely different but they're both examples of talented players whose heart, desire and mindset have come under criticism.

2a.) Troy Murphy's defense

2b.) Troy Murphy's offense

2c.) Troy Murphy's dribbling

Haven't seen him play in a while now.
Looking at the stats, it's either everything or nothing with him (at least when it comes to pts and rbds)....mostly nothing when he comes off the bench instead of starting.

What does that have to do with Carter taking a long jump shot everytime he touches the ball when he clearly still has the ability to beat people off the dribble and finish at the rim?

Maybe not like he used to but he shows he can clearly do it and he clearly has plenty of athletic ability left to be a fantastic offensive player yet 80 pct of the time he launches threes or tough fade away jumpers.

Until he becomes more consistent with taking the ball to the basket like he should I'd rather run the offense through RJ.

Wed Jan 30, 2008 4:34 am

how is carter being accused of anything bad for the league? its not like he is the face of the nba, that train has passed him by along time ago. oh and carter is a bum, i rank him up there with stevie franchise in my most hated players in the game ever

Despite how terrible management is, it's not Carter's decision to hire Dr J. In fact he has no authority. The point is, even though Carter brought Toronto many great things, the fans also gave Carter many great things plus a big contract. He decided to screw them over because he can't play GM and live up to his contract, and Toronto has every right not to give Carter any respect or loyalty.
