Buskevics leader?   He was a big shit sitting on the bench in Rytas :)

Fri Sep 14, 2007 1:45 am

Alright, Stop it. No one's interested in Buskevics here, neither in BBL or ASK.

JuryD take your time to make some sense. Your comparisons are ridiculous. How you can compare Latvia (didn't manage to get into the playoffs) and Portugal (5th team in the qualifying round) with Lithuania (1st rating in the Eurobasket) and Croatia (3rd team in the qualifying round)? Next you started talking about great Latvian perspective players. I can't disagree that Biedrinis is perspective, but he's never gonna play in the way that Ilgauskas plays, it's obvious. Berzins. I don't know much about Berzins, whole I know is that he plays in Barons and he's ~1985, same as Jonas Maciulis who's already playing in Euroleage and he does it great. Skele, Blums, Janicenoks... WTF!? They're 1982-1983 same as Jasaitis (TAU CERAMICA), but he is way too old to be called perspective... Blums 20 min in EUROLEAGUE team? Stupid. He didn't play 20 mins in 2nd best ULEB team, how he's gonna do it in Euroleague? Whichever the case, you Latvians played well this year, congrats. But with players you have (mostly, plays in Latvian championship which is not very strong). Playoffs are the best you could have guys.

Parker f*cked up a game again by missing a final free-throw , so much of his arrogance..
Russia goes to the semis. They'll meet Lithuania/Croatia there.

Fri Sep 14, 2007 4:53 am

Well, I hate Russia country, but I'm so happy that they have won today. I think their team is more easy to beat in semifinals if we will also reach it tomorrow :)

Fri Sep 14, 2007 4:54 am

I guess this is the part where I congratulate Lithuania, you guys played a great game managed to get by our defense play by play. Kudos to you guys . (Y)

Fri Sep 14, 2007 5:01 am

If you like Rugby you have to be Argentinean, if you like soccer you have to be Scottish and if you like Basketball you need to be Russian (Y)

One small question, I am French, what sport am I supposed to play ? (if I wanna win)

Good Luck to your team Panco, they deserve to play the final (against Spain I hope)

Last question : Which European teams are supposed to qualify for FIBA Olympics qualifier round (with Korea, Lebanon and an African team) ?

Thanks, man :) Good luck, tomorrow, I hope you'll win, but you will face Greece - strong opponent, but I like your team - not much stars, but you play quite well. Not as well as Lithuania, but well

Not Russian, but Lithuanian

You're wrong, actually. Football and ice-hockey is way more popular than basketball in Russia.

frenchy wrote:One small question, I am French, what sport am I supposed to play ? (if I wanna win)

Football (soccer) imo. Since France and Netherlands are my favourite football teams.

frenchy wrote:Good Luck to your team Panco, they deserve to play the final (against Spain I hope)

Thanks. I hope we'll get there. The whole Lithuania does. Lithuanians are crazy about basketball. Literally. During EuroBasket every show, every magazine, every other shit is basketball related. There's such a great atmosphere in Vilnius (capital of Lith).. A lot of cars have Lithuania flags on their bonnet, boot or wherever. It's like Christmas, just way more fun and entertaining.

frenchy wrote:Last question : Which European teams are supposed to qualify for FIBA Olympics qualifier round (with Korea, Lebanon and an African team) ?

12 teams qualifies for Olympics qualifier round. 4 teams from Europe, 3 from America, 2 for Asia and Africa and one for Oceania.
So France needs at least a 7th place to get there.

Fri Sep 14, 2007 6:11 pm

Well, today is the most important match in Eurobasket. I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling :? I know, that we are much stronger than Croatia (especially this year), but I'm very afraid of quarter finals... I hope that my feeling won't be true today... We demand a victory... Good luck all of you guys wearing Lithuanian jerseys - all of us believe you :!:

you missed frenchy's point....in the last week France has lost at the Rugby World Cup (to Argentina), in the Euro 2008 Football Qualifiers (to Scotland) & in the Eurobasket 2007 (to Russia)....I think he is lamenting his country's lack of luck in the last week....but the truth of the matter is that France is a better team in each of those sports that the respective team that beat them....they just got outhustled & outworked (at least in the RWC game)....

I'll clear it up for you. The Olympic field will be as follows (or similar):

1. Host = China
2. World Champions = Spain
3. 1st Place Americas = USA
4. 2nd Place Americas = Argentina
5. 1st Place Oceania = Australia
6. 1st Place Asia = Iran
7. 1st Place Africa = Angola
8. 1st Place (excl. Spain) Eurobasket = Russia
9. 2nd Place (excl. Spain) Eurobasket = Lithuania
10. 1st Place Reparcharge = Greece?!?
11. 2nd Place Reparcharge = Brazil/Puerto Rico?!?
12. 3rd Place Reparcharge = France/Germany/New Zealand :P ?!?

Reparcharge Stage will likely include:
1. 3rd Place Americas = Brazil
2. 4th Place Americas = Puerto Rico
3. 5th Place Americas = Canada
4. 2nd Place Oceania = New Zealand
5. 2nd Place Asia = Lebanon
6. 3rd Place Asia = Korea
7. 2nd Place Africa = Cameroon
8. 3rd Place Africa = Cape Verde
9. 3rd Place (excl. Spain) Eurobasket = Greece?!?
10. 4th Place (excl. Spain) Eurobasket = Germany?!?
11. 5th Place (excl. Spain) Eurobasket = France?!?
12. 6th Place (excl. Spain) Eurobasket = Slovenia?!?

so as you can see, with only 3 spots up for grabs in a very tough & ruthless reparcharge tournament, it's going to be hard for any of these teams to make it....I'd predict 2 Euro's & 1 Americas to round out the Olympic field of 12....

Spain crushed Germany as expected and will face Greece/Slovenia in the semifinals.
Lithuania vs Croatia today.. This is the most important our match so far, but I have a bad feeling somewhy.. Croatians are so unpredictable, that's why I'm really nervous before todays match. If it's a good day for them and a bad day for Lithuania, anything could happen (just like 2004 Olympics semifinal against Italy).
Still, I'm gonna support and respect my team, however the game ends. They've already showed a great basketball during past stages, they played much better than expected (at least in Lithuania), 'cause they really sucked at warm-up games.
Go LITHUANIA

Sat Sep 15, 2007 4:55 am

Yeaaaaaahhhhhhh, what a game. What a dramatic today game was... But we've won!!! We didn't play well, but it's over!! We are in semifinals!!!! I have a headache now, cause it was so nervous to watch this match...

Lithuania 74:72 Croatia (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y)

Congradulations, Panco

Sat Sep 15, 2007 6:27 am

Congrats to all Lithuanian fans!!! What a game....

Sat Sep 15, 2007 7:15 am

Aghh... What a DRAMA. That's why I was so nervous before the match..
That was the worst our game so far, so I'm glad we won it (Y)
Slovenia lost to Greece in last seconds. Sorry Pera.. Slovenia had 12 point lead with ~2 minutes left, but still managed to lose the game.. Unlucky.

They aren't unlucky, it was a slovenians fault, cause they made a lot of stupid mistakes in the end...

Sat Sep 15, 2007 6:44 pm

I feel sorry for Slovenia. We saw our loss coming early in the game, they didn't.

Sat Sep 15, 2007 8:58 pm

This doesn't come as a real shock to me , since I had a felling we are going to lose the game, even with the huge lead we had. We always play good in group stages and not so good in the later rounds.

Sun Sep 16, 2007 1:22 am

Okay, now we will play against Russia - our old opponents. Before Eurobasket we played with Russia a friendly game in Vilnius. And we won pretty easily - 76:66, the result doesn't show the game. Long time we hade a 20 pts lead, just Viktor Khryapa made some 3-pointers in the end to make our lead smaller. I think this match will be much more difficult to us. If we, win we will be in 2008 olympics. If we lose, we need to hope that Spain will win and then we need to beat Greece and we also reach 2008 olympics. Anyway, we must win. I hope that we will do it :)

MES UZ LIETUVA!!!

Sun Sep 16, 2007 1:59 am

Our old opponent.. Russia. It's not just a semifinal, it's a "match of principle".
We have to play much better than we did yesterday, to reach the final.
Maybe it's not fair to say that, but we deserved to be there. And I hope to face Spain there. Lithuania and Spain are definitely the best teams in EB, so I hope to see a real final.
Good luck LITHUANIA :!:

Hahaha LOL, we deserve it? You deserve it. Your national team will pay for your fucking police

Sun Sep 16, 2007 5:19 am

What's the matter with our police? and more important how can they be connected with our basket national team? I don't understand what you meant.
