i still think the award should have gone to nash again, he only didnt get it cause he won 2 in a row, yet he actually improved himself lol. anyway dirk really showed the world this year that he is not the guy. he lacks something, the mavs need someone else now, they need a go to guy.

Sun Jun 10, 2007 10:59 pm

If the Mavs get Robert Horry they will win a championship. Dirk is a great talent he justs chokes again and again in the playoffs. He was a 90% free throw shooter last year and missed free throws to win the game against Miami last year.

Sun Jun 10, 2007 11:01 pm

agreed overrated players
marbury, vince, curry

not agreed
Tmac, Ray allen, dirk

i guess it's matter of time, who will end up like shareef abdul-rahim, Stevie Franchise, darius miles... players who never lived up to pplz expectation

i cant agree with you here, horry is good at making the big shot when it counts, not as pulling a team through a game when the star is absent. he is in his perfect situation right now.

It has, and its never been more entertaining.

The X wrote:I always thought Ben Wallace was overrated in his time with Detroit, maybe not in his first year or so there though....he went from grossly underrated with Washington & Orlando to overrated with Detroit....

He went from being massively underrated, to everyone realising how underrated he was.
So then everyone says he is the most underrated player, and before you know it, he is overrated because everyone says he is so underrated.

magius wrote:marcus camby. not because i think he's a bad player, i think he's a very good player, and any team would love to have him, but because if someone gives him the dpoy over someone like td among others I think that is overrating. giving the dpoy to a team with defense like denver is like giving the mvp to a player on a team with a 500 record.... it shouldn't happen.

I like his DPOY award. Given to him in the only year he will ever play enough games to qualify. He earnt it.

Carter and Dirk would have to be two of the most overrated, for everyone elses reasons.

I don't think shareef abdur rahim sohuld be on that list becuse before he got traded to Portland he was actually pretty good. I think he was a 20 10 player in those days, only injuries and minutes have been killing him in Portland and Sacto. Unless he was expected to be the next karl malone or charles barkley or something like that?

He put up those numbers because he was the best player on a very bad team. 'Reef is an above average forward, and I don't think he has been overrated the past years.

If anyone expected him to be a perennial all-star back in his Vancouver-days, he might be considered a bust today, but I don't think a lot of people did.

I'd go with LeBron, now why? I think he is actually a very good player, but he isn't as consecutive as he should be to be such a great player as he is rated. I mean whenever he went for a terrible night, everybody were faulting not him, but the other team's defense, while Kobe had a poor night I heard things like "Is this the end of KB24?" or "This is Kobe's last good season". And when I saw him doin' those 50+ point performance in 4 games in a row, I heard "He is the best player in the league", now when LeBron had his great Game 5 against Pistons I heard(from the same guy, at ESPN.com I think) "LeBron's better than Kobe", so I think this is like LeBronamania.

Everytime a great player has a bad game, you see an argument like this. Just because Lebron has problems against the leagues best defence, he isn't less of a player.

Lebron would have looked great agaisnt the spurs, if he had had some good players to pass to, everytime they doubbleteamed him. Dirk would have looked great agaisnt the Warriors, if Don Nelson hadn't out coached Avery Johnson so bad.

When looking for over/under-rated players, try to look beyond the stats once in a while.

Since zanshadows post was locked, I would just like to say here how disappointed I was that it wasn't as comedic as his last posts.

If he keeps up the general stupidity, rather than upmost stupidity, we might need a new poster-of-the-year...

My thoughts exactly....he was just an excellent scorer @ the PF position....although his game was that of a SF.

Tue Jun 12, 2007 9:38 am

I think Dirk Nowitzki is most Overrated player in the NBA! Because, he is very lazy in defense, not so athletic and terrible in final games! For example, in Finals vsHeat, he strugled, and also vsWarriors he was simply weak! And MVP? Sorry Dirk fans, but I don't think so!

I think either Kobe nor LeBron is overrated.
The reason is simple: You can't find a better SG than Kobe or a better SF than LeBron in the League now. and when you can't name a better player than someone, the one shouldn't be called overrated.

Who knows. But Andrew is Australian, and Jae and Matthew were too. So maybe it spread locally due to their influence. Plus basketball is a really big sport here at a domestic level, in fact I believe it is the biggest amateur sport played at a competitive level in the country.

And regarding the initial comment, that's a pretty silly mistake to make as it is against forum rules to attack people on the grounds of their nationality.

Wed Jun 13, 2007 12:07 am

most overrated player is D-Whistle

no other player in the NBA benefits more from the refs than Wade

Wed Jun 13, 2007 12:14 am

Most overrated?
Try a seven-foot shooter that's touted as the next Larry Bird yet chokes in the first round of a playoff series, especially in the crucial game.
