The market for Jermaine is much higher then you think, it has nothing to do with what I think of him. He is the best player available this offseason other then Kobe, but that's a totally different situation.

Sauru, I would do that deal in a second, but I don't think Larry and Donnie would. The reason I think a deal wouldn't get done with Boston is because we would ask for the 5th pick and Al Jefferson.

We are in the catbirds seat when it comes to Jermaine, and mark my words, the Pacers are going to make a splash when we trade him this summer and none of you will believe the type of value we get in return.

I heard today that the reason the Lakers deal isn't done yet is because we aren't budging on our demand which is even better then I originally thought. The trade the Pacers are holding to is JO/Murphy for Odom/Bynum/Farmar/Kwame and the 19th. This deal would probably be done if the Pacers took on Radman instead of asking for Kwame, but I like the determination TPTB is showing to make the Pacers a better team next year, and in the future.

well my opinion still is, if we got JO we would be stuck as a second round team for awhile until both him and pierce got too old or we got lucky and landed some key free agents which i doubt we would be able to afford.

More rumors:

Los Angeles Times -
The Lakers and Pacers have stalled on trade talks involving Jermaine O'Neal because the Lakers do not want to give up both Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom in a swap for O'Neal and power forward Troy Murphy, a source said. The Lakers would also include Kwame Brown in the trade.

Numerous sources have said O'Neal wants to play in L.A., but the Lakers simply do not want to part with Odom and Bynum to make it work.

Lakers officials declined to comment Thursday.

I think LA is vastly overestimating Odom's worth if they think he alone can get an All-Star level C over to their team, without Bynum in there.

Those are leaks from LA to drive down the value of JO. Numerous sources my ass, has anyone read that quote from Jermaine anywhere? I haven't heard it. That isn't to say that he doesn't want to play there, I'm sure he would not mind teaming up with Kobe and Phil Jackson, but this report is ridiculous.

There is a small possibility the deal could get done without Odom in there, but definitley not Bynum. He is the most important part.

Sauru, I'm not saying the Celtics should do a Jermaine trade. What you guys would have to give up would be too much, I'm just saying that the market for JO is high.

wow

You seem to really think that JO is still one of the players that opposing GM's rave about.

And FYI, Leverage is what you should be having when you are trading for a monster contract, low fg%, probably disgruntled PF.

and instead of making up trade scenarios, why dont you post links on other teams showing interest in acquiring JO this summer.

ok then, i agree, i know teams will want him, he could really help turn a team around assuming he plays most the season and the playoffs. as for where the pacers are i think they should trade him but they need to, imo, get a draft pick this year and a future pick with another young player. atleast thats what they should try for. young players and draft picks.

I wonder what will happen when the Lakers do get Jermaine and meanwhile, the Lakers trade away Kobe.

I don't know what other people will do, but I will try and find a way to suicide bomb myself in the presence of Buss.

Can you imagine you trade away Bynum, get O'Neal, lose Bryant, O'Neal falls hard & fast and you're left with...

No Bryant.
Useless O'Neal.
No Bynum.

Bye bye future. :x Hellow lottery.

Well, the Lakers won't trade for Jermaine if Kobe gets traded.

There is a really hot rumor now that JO could be sent to New Jersey for Richard Jefferson and Nenad Krstic. I am reluctant as hell because both of these guys have serious injury problems, and could never be the same as they were before.

For fucks sake I hope not. If that trade happens, I'm expecting the Raptors to trade for Kobe or some superstar. Sucks to be a Sixers fan :|

I'd just like to hear Indy's opinion on this, but a majority of people on RealGM consider the Pacers to be the team in "the worst shape."

3-0 and counting. Another impressive game against Memphis on the road in a back to back. This with memphis shooting 45+ free throws. We led from the open to the close, and really dominated them. You really don't see that often from any team on a road back to back.

Funny that this thread is all about trading JO, and I actually advocated that. Thank god I'm not Larry Bird. He knew what he was doing this offseason by not pulling the trigger.

Indy you must be real happy! The Pacers offense is on fire. Dunleavy looks like a stud in that system. I don't think anybody expected the Pacers to be 3-0 and the Bull 0-3. If the pacers keep this up they will be a playoff team for sure.

I believe the Hawks won their first 3 or 4 games last season. I think it'll probably hold up a couple more days, then back to mediocrity.

Last year we won 35 games. We improved about 15 wins this year. Last year we didn't win 3 games in a row all season. This year it took us all of 3 games to do that.

Our team is better. . . Because of the Coach. Period. And don't compare the Pacers to the Hawks. When Jermaine gets more minutes and gets into rhythm, And Dun and Granger, And Rush keep knockin down their shots. Watch Out

It is a good thing the teams they played have a combined 0-8 record so fare this season... Your team may seem 15 games improved, but once they actually face some decent teams, and Bumleavy reverts back to his old self, you won't be spouting this 50 win nonsense.

I wouldn't be so quick to say they will go crap. O'Brien has totally revamped the whole team's system. Now with the up-tempo offence and with players who, I believe, fit that style of play; the team is winning. Indy could probably clarify that.

Indy, hows Tinsley looking so far? He's actually said that he loves the way the team plays now instead of being 'shackled in Rick C's old offence.'

We're just going in circles now. If you're right I'll acknowledge that it was a mirage and Jermaine will probably get shipped out and the rebuilding will begin.

But I don't think it will play out that way and we'll be seeing the Pacers in May.

Indy, Fair enough Come May we'll see what happens. I wouldn't be terribly shocked if the Pacers did end up playing in May (As a low seed and with some injuries to opposing teams of course), but I guess we'll wait and see.
