I didn't want to say anything, but all you guys picking D'Antoni or Avery as COY were running very against the odds because COY does not get given out twice to the same Coach for the same team. Auerbach only won it once, Phil Jackson only won it once, Popovich only once.

The only guy i know of that won it multiple times was Riley for different teams (and really, styles of play altogether), Lakers/Knicks/Heat.

I also think D'Antoni & Avery are really COYs, but they've already got trophies.

I was a little surprised Sloan didn't get it.

Sam Mitchell is not a bad choice, but I thought Jerry Sloan deserved it after so many good season without recognition.

Nobody has ever won two consecutive Coach Of The Year awards...that just sounds stupid to me.

In retrospect I should've put more stock in that. As I said in the other thread I thought the fact the Mavs were a 60 win team last year that actually improved by seven games might put Avery over the top and make him the first to net back-to-back COY honours but obviously not.

that's very true.

as for MVP Nash with a 3-peat? I think not. I think Dirk's got it this year especially with the way Dallas played in the regular season.

Roy's got ROY wrapped up.

Defensive player might be tough... i think Camby has a good chance unless a dark horse comes and surprises us all.

Improved player could be between a number of people. Kevin Martin would've been a good pick had he not shit himself in the last month or two. He's MIP for the first few months before defenses caught on to him

I actually wouldn't be too surprised if Nash gets it again, though I have to admit I'd be a bit disappointed because it makes his 2005 selection look a bit weak. Mind you, if they can snub Michael Jordan after a 57 win season in which he averaged 32.6 ppg (49% from the field, 35% from downtown and 84% from the line), 6.7 rpg, 5.5 apg, 2.8 spg and just under a block per game on the principle of letting someone else win the award then surely Dirk has a good shot at taking it away from his former teammate.

Current Leaderboard (out of possible 15 points) with Monta Ellis winning the MIP award:

Hinrich 12- 10 pts
scrub- 10 pts
marsal- 10 pts
YoG!- 10 pts
narutoaddicted- 10 pts

I tihnk the fact that Monta's team went to the playoffs slightly affected voting, which was so close that it put him over K Mart

Andrew, you went with the popular pick here and paid the price.

Yeah, i think i'm going to be over-taken pretty soon. I'm not as confident with the rest of my picks. Especially the teams.

Marion got robbed - those are some weird choices. Swing and a miss for me as well.

EDIT: Isn't it great that Bowen was the leading vote-getter for the All-Defensive Team, but didn't win the DPOY?

how the hell can you overlook someone like marion? dude comes in 4th in the DPOY votings, and you leave him off completely?

and sorry, i'm a big kobe jockrider, but no way in hell should he have been 1st team all defense this year.

doesn't make much sense on the Marion. I mean, numbers aren't everything but how do you leave off someone who avgs like 2 stls and 2 blks /gm + all those rebs? I don't think Prince deserved it over Marion.

i got three right on the first team.

And i regret that i'm not more of a fanboy with the second team. Also, i get this feeling that Tyrus Thomas is going to make an all-rookie team.

Nothing for Jermaine O'Neal either.

The All-Defense Team is chosen by the coaches, DPOY by the sportswriters.

Current Leaderboard (out of possible 45 points)

weird how they put 6 on a rookie team...

YoG!- 30 pts
weejontee- 30 pts (what a comeback)
narutoaddicted- 29 pts
Hinrich 12- 29 pts

did scrub change his name? I can't find his set of picks anymore... or I'm just blind and/or losing it.

Almost everyone got Brandon Roy right for ROY.... not much of a surprise there.

I can't believe I didn't put Raja Bell on my defensive lists either.

If you think I miscounted your point total, let me know.
