Andrea Bargnani is actually having quite a good rookie campaign if you ask me. He's definetly got skills.
10.1 points in just over 23 minutes is great for a rookie. That's 17.6 points per 40 minutes. And consider that this is the first half of his first season. He will only improve on this and get better. You can argue whether #1 was too high for him til the cows come home, but one thing is for sure, he's definetly not a bust.
For record, he is averaging 1.5 block and 6.3 rebs per 40 mins also. This is in his first 46 games as an NBA player. If only he improved his shooting percentages (currently at .407), he'd actually be an efficient player, haha. But still, a rookie who consistantly gets double figures in scoring off the bench is quite a good effort.
Here is something very interesting:
Dirk Nowtizki's rookie season: 47 games. 8.2 points in 20.1 minutes. 3.4 rebs, 0.6 stls, 0.6 blks, .405 FG%, .206 3pt%, .773 FT%, 1.55 TO, 2.20 PFs.
Andrea Bargnani's rookie season: 46 games. 10.1 points in 23. 1 minutes, 3.6 rebs, 0.5 stl, 0.9 blk, .407 FG%, .340 3pt%, .833 FT%, 1.41 TO, 2.70 PFs.
Dirk Nowitzki had a freakishly similar rookie season to Andrea Bargnani. It doesn't mean Andrea will turn out to be the same player, but it's a pretty damned good indicator that they are/were the same kind of player coming out of the draft. So i wouldn't call Andrea a bust just yet.
