The president of Real Madrid in Spain said two weeks ago that he had had conversations with David Stern to create international franchises, one of those was for Real Madrid. Both parts agreed. It sounds like a world championship of clubs. So I hope in 2 or 3 years we will check the level of international teams against US teams. Remember that Maccabi won Raptors some time ago (with Saras, Parker and Baston among others)

I havent watched any but from what I have read on the internet Carmelo seems to be Team USA's star player. I mean 35 points on a team with LeBron, Wade, Joe Johnson, Elton Brand etc means you are obviously doing something right. If he is an allstar next year something is fucked up.

Melo is playing very well but they all are, he's the leading scorer for now but Wade is right behind him while only playing 2/3 of Melo's minutes. And CP is in another time zone from everyone else in assists.

It's definitely a multi-headed monster of a team...best all-USA team since the original Dream, by far.

lol the other teams weren't so bad, it was just that the coaching staff didn't fully utilize their player's strengths and kept the young ones on the bench when they could have been injected for energy and stamina(that means you larry brown)
PPL r a little feisty these days:D

LeBron's the key to that whole team. Take him off the court and the ball movement pretty much dies, the US starts doing nothing but ISO's. I thought Paul was garbage against Australia, but he must be doing alright against the other teams.

Carmelo's going to end up like Kevin Garnett, monster player in a perennial early exit situation....Kenyon wanting to leave doesnt help either.

Can't agree on that one. I think "Dream Team II" was better balanced, although they had, one could argue, no class. But they sure had some shooters to go along with overwhelming inside play...

Melo has been impressive, just as much as other players such as "King James" have been disapointing, in my eyes. Please stop putting him in the same sentence as Magic and Jordan... Battier, although he's not young has proven to be a solid choice for this team. Tremendous job yesterday containing Dirk.

As for other guys in this tournament, I must point out Bellinelli, who really impressed me, but any quick footed guard will look great against team USA defense... Other guy in my radar from now on is that Cipriano kid from Angola...

I think Dream Team players are already all stars, so despite their ages, they shouldnt be pointed as best young players. We know they are the best young or old. However, trying to look for any other player who isnt playing for USA NT, we could say Ilyasova, Rudy, Belinelli, Milicic... but also Akyol, Cipriano, Spanoulis, Schortsianitis,... (nobody talked about them)

Yeah, Schortsianitis is definitely worth of mentioning (Y) He could really dominate. Can you imagine he's heavier (probably stronger too) than Shaq  :? He became one of my favorite players. And he can shoot free throws

Well well well, I dont know who is the best, but I know who have won a gold medal. Spain wouldnt have reached this championship without help of Sergio Rodriguez, Rudy Fernandez and Marc Gasol, so they deserve the right to be called the best young players of this one.

Rudy's game... I don't think it will translate well in the NBA. He's pretty weak to be that effective driving to the basket. He jumps pretty high for a euro, but who doesn't in the NBA. And he isn't that much of a shooter...

Rodriguez, on the other hand, I think he might become a solid PG, better than Calderon IMO...
