Nah, starting 5 should be:

Tinsley
Daniels
Harrington/Granger (better Granger as 6th man)
JO/Harrington
Harrison/JO

I'd like to see Tinsley, Daniels, Granger, Harrinton and JO starting...only weakness would be outside shooting..This team still needs someone who can shoot the ball.

Ironic that a player that whined about not getting playing time in Indiana is now returning to the same team with more depth at the SF position.

Al wanted to Start also. .

That's what I meant when I said "the same team with more depth at the SF position."

I know that, I wa just pointing something out. There's no need to be so defensive about it.

"The terms of the sign-and-trade deal that will send Hawks free agent Al Harrington to Indiana are nearly done, according to two people familiar with the negotiations," writes Sekou Smith of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. "The Hawks will sign Harrington to a six-year deal worth an estimated $60 million and then send him and reserve center John Edwards, both former Pacers, back to Indiana in exchange for cash, a future draft pick and a trade exception."

Nice to see the Pacers not having to give up any players.

A bit overpaid, don't you think? I can't imagine anyone would be willing to pay AH more than Indiana's trade exception (7.5 million $).

Anyone see NBA.com's link to that story? (Sorry if this has been noticed already), the photo next to the link is supposed to be Al Harrington. I've got a feeling it's Lorinza Harrington instead. It's definitely not Al though.

Look for yourselves

I think that's reasonable for Al Harrington. Scoring Bigs are premium contracts. $10M a year is essentially what Troy Murphy & Brad Miller make, and they barely qualify as "scoring" big men. IMO can be compared to someone like Antawn Jamison, who makes $15M a year.

Jamison is a 20/10 guy, Miller is a legit centre and probably the best passer at that position and Murphy is a superb rebounder and 6'11. Harrington isn't the same class as a player, he's just a decent scorer and nothing more.

Sat Jul 29, 2006 2:33 am

He's a big man who's very quick and athletic, and he has a perimeter game, which allows him to spread the offense. I'd say Harrington will reach Antawn Jamison's status in a few years time.

Sat Jul 29, 2006 3:10 am

Jamison vs. Harrington is a very interesting comparison, but to be honest I think I'd take Harrington. Jamison puts up slightly better numbers, but Harrington is a better rebounder, and I think would be much better for lockerroom chemistry at this point for the Pacers, which I have learned in the last few years is one of the most important things to have.

The Wizards offered Jamison for Artest last season and the Pacers turned it down. Just an interesting nugget of information.

Sat Jul 29, 2006 9:15 am

jamison averaged almost 10rpg while harrington only averaged 7..
Jamison is also a better 3point shooter.
there numbers are similar, but there is a reason why jamison was an all-star before and harrington hasn't been really a candidate for that.

Sat Jul 29, 2006 9:37 am

True, Jamison is better now, and he is also a better rebounder, but in a few years time Harrington will be better because Jamison is getting old.

Why are we taking back John Edwards? He ain't gonna play LMAO

If the choice is to take back Edwards and his salary or trade David Harrison, I'll take the ugly guy back any day of the week.

I also don't want to give up next years first rounder either. I'd much rather give an unprotected 08 first rounder, next years draft is going to be very good. We'll probably end up giving them the pick anyway though.

yea much like the Artest deal, it's gonna be a while

Mon Jul 31, 2006 4:07 pm

Its 99.99999999% that Al is heading to the Pacers but Billy Knight is holding out for more. I think its pretty certain that no players are going to be involved in the deal right now, its just a matter of cash issues now.

Growing impatient with sign-and-trade negotiations, Al Harrington has fired his agent and will likely hire Arn Tellem

I just read that!!

Harrington fires his agent
Soon-to-be-traded Hawk apparently will hire Arn Tellem

By SEKOU SMITH
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 08/01/06

Al Harrington plans to fire his longtime agent, according to several people familiar with the situation, meaning the month-long wait for a resolution to the Hawks-Harrington trade saga could last quite a bit longer.

Harrington took steps to sever ties with his New York-based agent Andy Miller on Tuesday, meaning the negotiating process regarding the sign-and-trade deal he's seeking, with assistance from the Hawks, is far from complete.

With Harrington seeking new representation, league rules stipulate that there must be 15 days between the time Harrington files the paperwork to fire Miller and retains new representation, meaning the process could stretch well into this month before it is resolved.

Miller did not return several phone calls.

People familiar with the situation said Harrington will hire Arn Tellem as his new agent.

Harrington is prepared to restart the entire process, the people familiar with the situation said. That means new teams could get involved, wiping out a proposed deal that would have sent Harrington back to Indiana in exchange for cash, a draft pick and John Edwards.

There were more than a half dozen teams that inquired about sign-and-trade possibilities involving Harrington before the list was narrowed to Indiana and Golden State last month. That list included the Los Angeles Lakers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Chicago Bulls, the Detroit Pistons and the Milwaukee Bucks.

With the news that the trade process will begin anew, the list of teams showing interest in Harrington could increase.
