I think you're missing the point....a player generally has to have played in the NBA, or at least professionally, before they could even be a candidate for breakout player of the year....

instead of calling him a breakout player of the year, how about labelling him the sleeper of the draft

I think he will be traded this summer and coud have a great year if he gets more than 20 mpg

Dunleavy's contract is possibly only thing keeping Pietrus from the starting lineup.

he's obviously the better defender and his offensive game has been improving since he's in the league.

David West could average 15ppg and 10 rebounds. I'm not just saying that because i'm a hornets fan. I'm saying it because because every year he's been getting better and better.

Well he averaged 17ppg and 7rpg this season so I doubt 15/10 would be a breakout year.

i said Pietrus last season so i'll stick with it....hopefully Warriors unload Dunleavy.

Darko, Kwame Brown, Delfino (if he's traded).

Raymond Felton, Martell Webster, and Rafael Araujo.

I expect Darko to do good things for the Magic next season. The trade was so good for him.

Wow, nice to see so much love for Darko. I predict a 13ppg/7rpg/2bpg season for him. At the beginning, he'll probably come off the bench but 10 or so games into the season, he's going to become a starting C.

Smith: After being the second overall selection in 2003, Darko Milicic has been a major disappointment. Can he live up to the original expectations?

Howard: Oh yeah. People don't really understand how good Darko is. He's really a talented player. And I think over the years if he and I are playing together were going to be able to mold to one another.

Smith: With both of you as natural power forwards, how will the position situation work out?

Howard: Well Darko is more of a perimeter player. And I play more in the post. So we work well together since he's able to stretch the defense out. So it'll work out great.

Smith: Are you comfortable playing center?

Howard: Oh yeah. I'll play center. I think it'll help my game out even more so...

For some reason I'm just expecting Johan Petro (Seattle Sonics) to come out and have a pretty impressive year. He was kind of thrown into the fire at the beginning of the year and wasn't ready yet but I think after having one year under his belt he can come out and be a solid player for the Sonics. I don't know if he'll be breakout player of the year caliber but I think he'll surprise a few people.

I see Kirk Hinrich coming out next year and having the all-star season I expected him to have last year. Also because I'm a bias Wolves fan and saw what he could do when he has the ball, Rashad McCants.

Based on current evidence, it's all about Darko.

I also want to see Chris Paul get the Hornets into the playoffs. He's got great skill and deserves it fully.

Bogut! Switch back to his natural position at C, summer of international experience to gain some confidence. I'm hoping he can put up some consitant numbers, say 14pts, 9rebs, 3ast, 1blk.

Isn't it usually shown that players who rest over the summer excel more in the regular season? Example: Pau Gasol?

If Chris Paul tops his rookie year next year I will be very surprised. I expect the same type numbers as last year tbh.

Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich should have pretty big years. But I am expecting bigger things from Chicago as a team. They have huge cap space, they are already a playoff team, young core, have a high draft pick - so much potential if their GM makes good decisions.

Depends whether the player needs rest, like Gasol whos the focus of the defence every game with Memphis, or the player needs to further develop his game and gain confidence. Bogut at this stage would be the latter. PLus the capacity to be the focal point on the Australian World Chamionship team will show the Bucks how to utilise him more next season!

I don't think that Darko will come up big next year. I hope he does because I want him to but I will be surprised if he does. There is no question he will get more playing time, I;m thinking maybe 25-28 minutes per game but I think it will be the season after next he really shows his potential because if you think about it next year is like his rookie season because he has had virtually no playing time in the NBA whatsoever.

I think Darko will come out good next year as well.

I think Mehmet Okur had a good season, not sure if it was good enough for the break out award.

a breakout player will most likely win the MIP award, well atleast a candidate...

Okafor, Dwight Howard, Bogut and still a lot worth mentioning.
