Damn, I thought ZMac and ultimateplaya were the same person and I was about to spaz.

Ultimateplaya, just a reminder, but its more convenient for other forum members when you just edit your post instead of double posting. It isn't a big thing, but it is frowned upon in this forum and editing your post makes you look less like a spammer. Just so you know.

LeBron isn't going to get past Detroit by himself like he did last round. He'll need some help this time from his supporting cast.

On paper, Cleveland looks very promising, but Larry Hughes and Damon Jones have been huge flops.

Yeah, Lebron is surely happy about his future with an aging centre and Larry Hughes by his side.

2-0....another day another win. This one almost got ugly for the Cavs again.

Series shifts to Cleveland, hopefully Detroit doesn't drop the intensity.

That game was somewhat entertaining to watch. Scoreline didnt reallt reflect how much Detroit dominated this game. Oh well.

Well they kinda knew right from the start that it was over.

Of course, Donyell Marshall telling that to reporters after Game 1 didn't really help raise morale tonight.

He said that? Never a good move.

I still think Cleveland can take a game from the Pistons at home but with the way it's gone so far I think that's the best they can expect.

the way i's going so far it could be a sweep, otherwise 4-1.
Cavs cant win, and if clipps dont make it past the Suns, i'll be left supporting NJ, then Suns, then Miami. If they all go then i'd probably support Pistons.

Monster game all over the court from Bron today. He had trust in his team mates, and although no one stepped up majorly, the whole team contributed, then when they needed Bron the most, he turned into high gear and crushed the Pistons. 15 of his 21 in the 4th!

Im so pumped for Game 4 now, we could even up the series and go into Detroit with some new found confidence!! Heres hoping!

Seems the "kid" lebron has a kid himself. He was holding a toddler after the game.

LeBron once again entertains basketball fans everywhere with this thrilling win. I predicted detroit would loose 2 games to them before they won it all.....1 more to go. If he can manage to do that....he will have secured himself as a young legend in my eyes.

Anyone watch LeBrons postgame comments?
He didnt seem happy at all, I think it may have been because of the Hughes' situation. I hope this doesnt take a toll on them in the next games....and when Hughes comes back, I really hope it doesnt effect him.

In all fairnes, why should he be happy? He wants to advance and the cavs are still down. I'd be more concerned if he was jumping up and down like they just won the championship.

Nice win for the Cavs. For some reason I dont believe they will be getting another one. It would make a great story if they won the series though, then I would eat my words.

Lebron is amazing. He made this series quite interesting now. Someone better start scouting his son, he will be chosen one the 2nd in twenty years.

No, but he seemed like a jerk. Some guy asked him a question and he gave a shit arse answer and before you knew it, he walked off....
I mean, I understand 100% where your coming from, but I would have at least a slightly happy, more relaxed mood since I knew I wouldnt be getting swept in front of my home crowd.....and son LeBron Jr :P

I can see what Matthew means. I really think this is the difference between players of old school (especially Bird and Jordan) and those of new school - competivness and how it shows. I'm not saying that Bryant and Lebron aren't competive, far from it. But they aren't on that ultimate level which was reached by Bird and Jordan. Can you imagine MJ admitting his 'inferiorness'? Saying not only that there's a chance that they will be beat, but that they will be swept? MJ's answer would be as simple as this: "I will not allow it." And he wouldn't. He would kill everyone on his and opponent's team before he admits the chance that he could lose. Nor he would celebrate after the battle when the war is far from being over. I'm ashamed to paraphrase someone as cheap as 50 Cent, but I think it fits right in with what I'm trying to say: win or die trying.

There are two great examples of what you are getting at. Tracey McGrady in 2002 and Magic in 1980. I'll never forget the comment tmac made when it was pointed out to him that Baron Davis had badly outplayed him in the first 3 games: "oh he has better teamates". That comment to me was much more unacceptable than "im only playing for the scoring titile" in 2004.

Then you compare that mentality to that of Magic after Kareem went down with that ankle injury. We all know what he did on the court, but the fact that he wanted to jump centre, to signifiy he wasnt prepared to lay over for philly to tie the series. Truely a heroic gesture by a rookie.

But then again there are examples of players in this generation showing more toughness than the older players. Mental toughness is most difficult to muster up when things are going bad, and after the Pistons took a 2-0 lead on the nets in 2004, the nets came roaring back led by jason kidd. Then in game 5, thats block by jefferson to prevent the game ending in overtime. I know nothing was said in the media, but i would pay to find out what was said behind closed doors in each locker room for each game.

And as much as i hate to say it, Pippens actions in 94 when the play was drawn up for Kukoc was pretty bad. He did make up for it though in game 6 of the 98 finals.

Due to my obvious homerism, I'm still in a fase of denial about that certain 'event' :). But then again, I don't believe that had anything to do with lack of competivness - quite contrary, Pippen wanted to show how he can knock down big shots and further (im)prove his own greatness and legacy. If anything, ego was the main problem. On second thought, you could be right. Wouldn't a trully great competitor realize that he has to put his own ago aside and the last thing you should do in that situation is to leave the game and betray his own team? He should deal with the problem after the game and not while the clock is still running. But in my eyes, that doesn't take away anything away from Pippen and his greatness. Every great player has his own dark moments which only help him to rise to new heights. And this where my sign comes from :).
