It's because at the speed of things during the game, if a ref clearly doesn't see something he'll go on precedent...kinda like our legal system.

If he seems a collision from Bruce Bowen and Kevin Martin...wtf is Kevin Martin...Bruce Bowen is a DPOY candidate...probably Martin's fault.

A lot of teams play slacker D all regular season...the refs get used to it...then all of a sudden play hard D in the playoffs and get burned. Ref sees Antoine Walker reaching...he hasn't seen Walker play D since 2004....he calls a foul.

Same thing why Jordan got all those calls. He started out his career attacking the basket and got pummelled, pretty much every single time. Detroit would usually send 3 guys to foul instead of just 1. After a few years of this the refs just called it in Jordan's favor. They're thinking "maybe it wasn't a foul, but 80% of the time it is so that's how i'm calling it."

this has to be the dumbest reason i have ever heard of as to why a 8 wont beat a 1 again. everyone loves an underdog. now home team favoritism aside, everyone loves seeing the upset in sports. the refs might give some players the star treatment but it never really forces the outcome of the game. you think manu is considered a superstar where he will get the calls that a kobe or lebron would get? manu is just getting really good at the flop, which some players like divac perfected. he was never a superstar but constantly got calls in his favor cause of it. then you have the "bitching: factor, where some players and teams never stop crying to the refs so the calls start going against them quite a bit. i wish these players would learn that yelling at the ref every single call only makes things worse for you and your team. oh well, the better team usually wins. maybe not the better team over 82, but in the best of 7 you can get hot, and take anyone down.
