Paul Allen should go back to Microsoft!

but i think Vancouver will be a good place for an NBA team once again..im not so sure if the Blazers really fit there...

I doubt history matters since they already sold it to Paul Allen, who's famous in Seattle for his multiple expensive projects, none of which ever generate money. Like toys, he eventually loses interest in them, like the Experience Music project.

If Vancouver wants a team, they should consider going after the Sonics, who are very likely to be sold considering it's the league's smallest market and most expensive arena.

That's not a bad idea, considering how close Seattle is to Vancouver.

And I'm going to see them in Toronto!

Everybody's happy.

Yeah, and I'm sure Allen and Lewis will be able to draw crowds.

Hmmm.. I would rather put the Blazers in Oklahoma City after the Hornets move back to Nawlins. Either that or go to Vegas! (Y) As Stern has wanted of course! Screw Vancouver :P

Maybe because he's been away the last two weeks. Thanks for noticing. And I held it in.

The problem with the Vancouver Grizzlies was not Vancouver by any means. The fans were great and loved the team. As you can see by those attendance numbers, the team was doing really well. After the move to Memphis attendence numbers went down, but they were making US$ so it didn't matter. Now US and CDN dollars are much closer (it was about 0.65 US to 1.00 CDN back then, it's now .85 or something.) It was the team that sucked. People were just less and less interested in a team that stayed crappy and never really improved. The team continually made awful moves and draft choices. Stu Jackson is a good guy and all (I met him a few times, his kids went to my school) but being GM didn't suit him very well. Heisly just used the city as a copout excuse. Vancouver is/was fine.

There's no guarantee anything would be different second time around. I mean Portland's not going to keep this unit together forever and there's no guarantees all of the players will want to move to Canada... I never did understand why certain players didn't want to live/play in Canada, but alas they do. I mean Telfair for instance, can you picture him playing for a Canadian team?

good point, thats where i was trying to lead you. there shouldn't be another basketball team in canada for a few more years (until there are more internationals playing in the league). not because of the fans, maybe because of the economy, but mostly because marqee players do not want to play in canada. that is because the marqee players are americans and i don't see them signing a contract across the border when they can sign one closer to home (for more money considering taxes, etc.)
