Wow, the Knicks are really screwed over. Wats Isiah doing???

They now got Franchise, Starbury and Crawford... all of them play basically the same 'gimme the ball' style of basketball. How will they co-exist??? Well.. I thoguht only in NBA Live you could see those three playing in the same backcourt...

ah well... Isiah doesn't fail to surprise once again...

And when he says he's tyring to get guys LB wants... Steve is not one of them.

wtf... very lopsided trade

Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:14 am

What the fuck does Isiah Thomas think he's doing? He's got two point guards who have a shoot-first pass second metality. He's also got Jamal Crawford and Q benched, as Jalen is starting at SF. His salary cap is like fucked to the max, and his backcourt's pretty cancerous (Jamal and now Franchaise). He's worse than Rob Babcock's first year w/ the Raptors. I'm sure glad that Isiah left Toronto, or we'd be screwed over.

On the flip side, the Magic are in rebuilding mode for sure now, and they got a great core I think. Trever Ariza I think can make an impact with the Magic since Larry Brown never gave him the chance to play. Penny's contract expires this year so his contract will be off the books. They just got Arroyo who I think can be a starter in this league, and Milicic, who finally has a chance to show what he's got. Along with Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson, I think they're future's definately bright.

I wonder who will be the Knicks next GM? Maybe they can Donald Trump and get him to say "You're Fired" to Isiah. Man the only thing that can save the Knicks is if MJ gets the urge to play bball again and signs with them because the Knicks are in the highest profile city in the world.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:37 am

I'm just baffled that Isiah syas he's forming a team of 'LB' type players... he just keeps getting further away from that concept.

Marbury and Francis make an explosive backcourt. They are skillful but chemistry will defnitely be a problem.

I'm waiting to see how they fare for the rest of this season.

Magic is like the brightest young team coming up,
penny's like 14 million, grant hill has a similar like 14 million or something expiring in 07, they haf howard, darko, ariza, nelson...
Add like chris bosh and a great guard from the draft, let him develop, and resign their guys, they will be under the cap with 2 a 25/15(Howard in 3 years) guy and a 28/12(Bosh in 3 years) guy

no limit to what they can do, unless isiah thomas takes over, trade howard for kwame and game over

I'll be parting in the streets of NYC if that happens.

I feel sorry for Knicks' fans. Isiah Thomas clearly doesn't know what the hell he is doing. Orlando should be really happy with this trade. They get an expiring contract and a very young player with talent. What do the Knicks get? Marbury's twin.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:51 am

I wish we were getting Colangelo.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:52 am

Isiah is very dumb. He might as well trade Frye to Denver for Martin, and his dreams will be fullfilled, all of the banged up and big contract players on his team!

Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:55 am

Without Penny... theres no way Denver would deal with the Knicks anymore.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:06 am

Let's see...

1. Marbury

2. Francis

3. Crawford

4. Robinson

Hmmm... The best point guard now emploeyd by the New York Knicks is... Isiah Thomas.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:08 am

Cot damnn.

Hopefully Ariza can do good in O-Town.
What a backcourt of Marbury, Rose and Francis.
... And Crawford, Robinson and Richardson comin' off the bench =o.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:09 am

The best passer on the (playing) team is Jalen Rose.

dadamafia wrote:Penny back in Orlando eh. Wonder if Shaq will join him anytime soon(not).

Lets see how well Francis and Marbury play together in the backcourt. They might surprise everyone and get the Knicks going on a winning streak or something.

I hope not because the worst they are the better pick the Chicago Bulls will end up with :D

Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:55 am

Marbury and Francis.........lots of talent, too bad they won't play very well together. A backcourt needs one guard to be willing to pass the basketball, and neither one of them knows the meaning of the word "pass". Individual talent out of this world, yes, but playing together won't work for them, at least in my opinion. I wonder who'll end up averaging more turnovers per game?

Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:58 am

Marbury can be a willing passer and he doesn't turnover the ball much.

I don't know about Francis.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 11:19 am

Knicks fans should hope that the two of them can be brothers and come out and say, "We both are tied for best PG in the League. No doubt bout that! We both better than JKidd."

And then the Knicks can lose to Jersey (Y)

Thu Feb 23, 2006 11:38 am

I actually think the deal doesn't look too bad on paper. It's going to be the execution that lets the trade down. After all, the Knicks were able to acquire a top ten point guard for a seldom used but hardly untalented young player in Ariza and Anfernee Hardaway, who was part of the team in spirit only. In theory, that's a great trade to make. Of course, in theory the Knicks don't already have a similar breed of point guard to Francis who's also top ten at their position.

Orlando is the opposite. On paper, they would appear to get the worst of it since they get a banged up Penny who may or may not suit up for them making him at best an expiring contract, and a relatively unproven player in Ariza for a top ten point guard. But it was clear things had stopped working with Francis, he was unhappy and wanted out. They've got a good young player in Ariza, Penny's contract will be coming off the books soon and if he can give them productive minutes so much the better.

I'm with cyanide as far as Penny being back in Orlando. Interesting that he should be paired up with Grant Hill, seeing as though they were both once considered the future of the NBA but have since been reduced to role players. I wish Hill was starting in front of Stevenson though.

I'm waiting until after the deadline at least, otherwise I'll be releasing a couple of updates in the span of a few days. And yes, all trades will be included since that's the whole point of a roster update. ;)

Thu Feb 23, 2006 12:41 pm

This trade makes no sense for either team.....

Thu Feb 23, 2006 12:42 pm

It makes sense for Orlando, even if it isn't a fantastic deal for them.

How come the knicks fans dont like crawford?

Thu Feb 23, 2006 1:07 pm

Cause they already have Marbury, Francis, Rose, Nate, Q rich..What's the point of having Crawford?

well i personally like Crawford but i want him gone so he can have an opportunity to suceed

Thu Feb 23, 2006 1:16 pm

I wonder why Orlando didn't even bother to demand at least a 1st round pick out of NY... no matter not hot headed Francis is ....he alone in paper is way more attractive than penny and ariza together.
