i injoyed nate's dunks more than igoudala
but still igoudala was robed
the judges gave nate some more love because his short
i bet if robisnon was 6'5 hi would lost to iggy
Sun Feb 19, 2006 10:37 pm
Iggy's dunk looked cooler and much more unqiue however... Nate won on pure grounds that he is short.
Obviously, I was jumping and down at both dunks! Kicked J Smith's ass any day!
Sun Feb 19, 2006 10:52 pm
Can't wait for Iggy vs Nate next year. Iggy is gonna whoop his @$$ unless... rooks like White will do the @$$ kicking. BTW these forum sigs rock!

For his opening dunk, he got the crowd on its feet by having a piece of masking tape placed foul line extended. Then, running the length of the floor, he completed a never-before-done two-handed jam after taking off with a foot on the free-throw line, even doing a little double pump for flair.
- Still dont understand wh ythe masking tape was used... can someone explain the significance?

He put it there to know where his second to last step would be before he took off from the foul line.
Iguodala should have broke that behind the backboard dunk out in the finals.

Are you serious? The Nate dunk was uncomparable to the AI2 dunk, AI's dunk looked good but it wasn't as hard to do as Nate's because 1. Nate was basiclly suffocating after making so many attempts and 2. He jumped 5 feet over Spud while AI jumped like 3 and that dunk wasn't as hard to do, it just looks hard cause it's behind the backboard.
I still agree that they both deserve 50's for those but Nate's was just out of this world.
Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:53 am
I thought the last two dunks by AI2 weren't like as creative as his first couple. Weren't both like between the legs dunks just in different areas? but one was with his left and one with his right hand?
I just liked Nate Robinson's dunks better since he's short.
Mon Feb 20, 2006 5:25 am
I think Andre's best dunk was better than Nate's, but Nate's final dunk was better than AI2's.
I liked Nate's array of dunks more than AI's, so I had no problem with him winning.
AI had 2 good ones. Nate had some really hard ones. The between the legs dunk is tough, especially for someone his size.
And that last dunk was wacky, but good. I like'd the dunk over Webb the most of his, but AI2 definately had the dunk of the night.
Mon Feb 20, 2006 6:50 am
Looks like Ai's dunk gets most votes
Mon Feb 20, 2006 7:15 am
Why is AI holding Andre's ass? Lol, Brokeback Sixers.

Have you even tried to do what Iggy did? Thats crazy, and very original. Spudds dunk has been done before, remember Vince over Weis? I think a few too many are caught up in the gary coleman hype for nate robinson. Sure it was impressive, but to ignore the absurd amount of misses he had and to just basically hand him the trophey was a joke.
Mon Feb 20, 2006 7:28 am
Don't the rules state that you're supposed to ignore the attempts and just score the actual dunk, no matter how many times he has to try it?
Mon Feb 20, 2006 7:30 am
Yeah, but if you watch someone attempt a dunk 13 times, aren't you going to score it lower than if he'd pulled it off the first time, too?
Mon Feb 20, 2006 7:35 am
I'd want to, but if the rules say you ignore the attempts then you really can't give him a lower score for it.
Mon Feb 20, 2006 7:38 am
like i said before, i don't think iggy could dunk over a guy the same height as himself on an 11 foot hoop, nate's dunk was downright sick, and iggy onky had 1 standout dunk, all the rest of his were stupid, nate had a way bigger arangement of dunks.

There is a limit on your vertical jump. I know taht Iggy can dunk over spud webb and make it look more impressive than Nate made it. But I bet you that nate can't do the dunk Iggy did, even though he has an advantage since he is shorter. Iggy is a better dunker, period. I guess Iggy's last dunk was not nearly as good as Nate's last dunk, that is what won it. But seriously. Iggy has better hang time (and do not give me he is talle shit) it is that simple, there is no way Nate can be as good as he is at dunking the ball, ever.

if those are the rules, then Kenny Smith and Julius Erving have been breaking them.
In the past few contests when they were judges... They were "miced" (sp?)and would say they purposely lowered a dunk contestant's score when the contestant took more then try to get the dunk in..
I didn't like this dunk contest. you shouldn't get 14 tries to attempt a dunk and then get a 50 score when you finally do it because you're short. Iggy sure got robbed but so did Chris Anderson
Back in '86, Spudd probably got some home cookin' from the judges to win that contest but nothing like the bias that Robinson got. And he made his dunks mostly on the 1st try
even Robinson said it felt like the win wasn't "authentic"
Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:16 am
I finally watched all the dunks in the contest. Before I watched it reading all the stuff and checking photos I knew Iggy should of won. Nate is Lil' Birdman. J Smoove must of been on Georgia homegrown and Warrick copied more than a xerox.
Kenny Smith must be given a suspension from judging equivalent to Ron Ron's but in years. He must have Midget Society links. Hope Sir Charles gives him shit for it tonight.
Cheryl Miller should immediately get back to see her own children. If she kept holding Nate and Spud any longer she would gave Michael Jackson a run on his money.
Kobe's reaction was like "Am I on trial for rape again?"
The silence from the Houston crowd was so deafening it could pop your eardrums.
Next year if Iggy is in the same situation he might as well pull out Tree Rollins out of the crowd give him a jersey and dunk it over him.
My 2 cents, Iggy > Nate, Iggy to beat Nate next year!
In the end slam dunk contest is going strong, good for us.
Mon Feb 20, 2006 11:47 am
as iverson said, "we were robbed"
i dont like the judges looking at others score before they lift thier score.
thats not fucking right!
but i dont kinna like iggy's dunk though, we've seen lots of between the legs. he should have tried other trick..well kobe's kinna influenced iggy's between the legs...(well anyways, thats what they get on not playing NBALIVE 06 slamdunk contest) hahah lol
Mon Feb 20, 2006 4:53 pm
i think iggy should have won! atleast he won rookie challenge MVP
Mon Feb 20, 2006 6:02 pm
AI2 killed himself with that tiebreaker dunk, which was weak in comparision with almost every dunk in competition... Igoudala never thinked that he will have 5-tiebreaker dunk and he had no idea how to make it.
I think the judges should make a second TIE !
But, congratulations for that big small man, best dunker in 2006 !

I found this on wikipedia in slam dunk contest page
Quote:
Notable dunks
* The first free throw line dunk ever by Julius Erving (1976 ABA Dunk Contest).
* The free throw line double clutch jam by Michael Jordan (1988 NBA Dunk Contest).
* The East Bay Funk Dunk by JR "Isaiah" Rider (1994 NBA Dunk Contest).
* All the dunks done by Vince Carter in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest.
* The reverse BTW the legs (2003, NBA SDC) and the 2004 off-the-backboard BTW the legs dunks by Jason Richardson.
* The behind the back dunk by Patrick Ewing Jr, done again by JR Smith (2003 Indiana Hoosiers Slam Dunk Contest, then 2005 NBA Slam Dunk Contest). Also in the 2005 NBA SDC, the dunks using a prop from Josh Smith and Amare Stoudemire (read below for more informations).
* All of Nate "Hammy Legs" Robinson's dunks in the 2006 contest
-------
I agree with everything else there but whoever put that last point there is fucken stoned. It should be Iggy and his behind the backboard dunk. None of Nate's dunks were revolutionary or noteable like the others.
I can remember I read Nate's bio on there one time a few weeks ago and it said he can do between the legs twice dunk like in live. A pass like that he can do but no dunk. The person who wrote what is quoted above must of wrote that too. That wrong fact is gone from the bio now.

FUCK You Kenny Smith!
Tue Feb 21, 2006 6:51 am
lol, all of Nate's dunks....not all of them were that good.
Tue Feb 21, 2006 1:48 pm
what if nate messed up his spud webb dunk? i mean, he messed up so many other times, what do you think would have happened if he screwed that one up too?
Tue Feb 21, 2006 1:50 pm
Igoudala made a good point today in Cold pizza on ESPN 2 . He said that the Nate over Spud dunk wasn't that special because Nate has to jump that high to dunk anyways...
Iggy also said he won't participate in next years dunk contest unless they raise the money. He said he'll participate in the 3pt shootout /skills challenge/shooting stars , but not in a contest that there is judges in it .
