I had a look at your John Hollinger's PER stats, and Z. Ilgauskas is no. 1 CENTER(If you call Gasol and Duncan PF's). So he should be NO 1 in your votings, cause he does the most to his team, according to that. But if we say how it is actually, then he's probably 2nd.

Well Gedas,
People like Shaq and Yao Ming aren't on that list, or anyone else for that matter that hasn't played enough games to qualify (due to injuries). And they both have better PER ratings than Ilgauskus. So Ilgauskus shouldn't be #1 on my list.

Go to this page if you want to see PER rankings from players that don't qualify.

Basically PER is like the effiency stat, except more accurate. And it takes into account minutes played. The problem with it though, is that it doesn't take into account defensive intensity and hustle and things like that. I.e. Ben Wallace, Desmond Mason, etc, are better players than the PER suggests, because they do things that wouldn't normally show up on the box score. But it's interesting to see PER rankings anyway. (Y) It gives you a good idea of how players rank against each other. And It helps you predict who would be a good starter if they had more minutes. (I.e In 2002, you would've been able to predict Zach Randolph would play the way he does when he starts, because his PER was so good).

"PER = Player Efficiency Rating - A single number that represents a player's ability adjusted for minutes played and pace - a great representation of his offensive ability (30 best - 0 worst)"

A per of about 15 is a decent player... 20 is very good... 10 is crap... 25 is getting into superstar-ville.

Anyways, i find this stuff all very interesting, so blah. (Y)

Okur is a Centre last time I checked too but his style of game is more like a PF.
