Each one is one too many. :shake:

I wonder what the thread would be like if it was Lebron who scored 62 and not Kobe.....

"Oh my God!! Lebron is King!!"

"Lebron is so great it doesnt matter if he didnt pass the ball"

"Oh Lebron, marry me!!"

"Lebron is far greater than MJ ever could be!!"

"Lebron can do no wrong"

"All hail King James!!"

I feel sorry for Kobe, soo many people hate him. I was discussing this with some so-called basketball expert and he went psycho at me because he hates Kobe and Bogut. And I'm like damn, I didn't know a Spurs fan would have an attitude like a Pistons fan.

The point is, Kobe deserves more recoginition for this :x

Thu Dec 22, 2005 6:37 am

What Kobe did was incredible. I can easily see why he didnt play the 4th. Not only was it like a 35 point game, but Dallas tried to like clothesline him (think that was the start of the 3rd). Dirk got a T then few minutes later Avery Johnson was ejected. Just wonder what they say...."Kobe gets 70 but hurt when Dampier punches him in the mouth."
I hate to say it, but Kobe is one of few players who can carry a team all by himself to a victory when his teammates barely score.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 6:49 am

Thats all I have to say.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 7:00 am

Not to diminish Kobe's amazing night, but the reason Jordan's performance that night goes down in history was not just points. In addition to 69 points Jordan also pulled down 18 boards (absolutely sick for a guard) and dropped 6 dimes and had 4 steals and shot 62% FG.

Again, not meant as a diss, just that Jordan was on another level.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 7:52 am

Kobe destroyed the Mavs. WTF why didnt Jackson just play him in the 4th, he would have dropped 80!!!

Thu Dec 22, 2005 7:57 am

Amazing performance by Kobe. As the one of the biggest Kobe haters around, I have to give him respect for this one. I could talk some shit and try to make it look less special, but it's almost no use, 62 is just amazing.

True, too bad he can't do it in enough games to make the playoffs (sorry had to).

The fact that Kobe didn't play the 4th quarter will just make this a much more respectable effort when you read about it years down the road. Good decision IMO, also based on the score at that time of course.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 8:15 am

Dont forget that the 69 points by MJ was i think in 2 overtimes.....I think Kobes night was a lot better....maybe not team play..but by just him alone..

Kobe is the Devil. A ballhog, a selfish asshole and his performance last night against dallas is selfish selfish selfish. :shake: :lame:

Who'd have thought you'd believe that anything Kobe Bryant does is a "lot better" than what Michael Jordan did? Of course 62, 8 and 0 is better than 69. 18 and 6. ;) And actually, it was one overtime. About 63 came in regulation if I recall correctly. Michael Jordan did actually have games where his points to minutes ratio was more impressive than the 69 point game.

ixcuincle wrote:From what I've seen from nba.com reports he apparently scored 30 in the 1st half and 32 in a "historic third-quarter". Why didn't he play the 4th? Why didn't he go for 80 points?

It was actually 32 in the first half and 30 in the third. He was taken off because if he stayed on he could've gotten injured or something. they were up by 34 at three. I dunno about you but if someone had scored 62 points against me I would probably want to smash them pretty hard.

It seems that if you score enough, it goes from being ballhogging to "unstoppable" and "dominant". To that end, players like Kobe and T-Mac (and MJ in years gone by) have been labelled as such. Not without reason but it's interesting how other great scorers through time have avoided the label (especially when some of them have been more deserving).

Thu Dec 22, 2005 9:28 am

MJ is the greatest. Nuff said.
I would be changing my tune though if somehow, kobe brings a title back to LA.

Anyway, another move by the devil. The guy is such a devil that he didnt make a fuss out of this.

The wish to come true for Corey O'Rane-Ealy, a 6-year-old battling kidney cancer, was meeting Kobe Bryant.

There was more than a meeting Tuesday night at Staples Center. There was a date with destiny.

Bryant scored a career-high 62 points, sat out the fourth quarter of the Lakers' 112-90 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, then hugged young Corey afterward as had been arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kobe is such an asshole eh?

Thu Dec 22, 2005 9:44 am

I'd respectfully disagree that one title would catapault him ahead of MJ. ;) But it would silence a lot of his critics, without a doubt.

That got me thinking...I wonder if a celebrity has ever been callous enough to turn down the Make-a-Wish foundation?

on an ESPN interview Kobe said Phil asked him if he wanted to continue and Kobe decided to sit. But he admitted he was thinking of getting 80

When I read that I got quite irritated myself. Thats why in my previous post I wondered what they would have said if it was Lebron. I am certain it would not have the same headline, it would probably be something like "Lebron shows Why They Call Him King."

btw you can see every point(even free throws) he scored on nba.com. There is a link on the front page somewhere.

That's disgusting, really. In my opinion they are simply ruining a historical moment

There's a fine line between being a critic and a hater. ESPN=Haters.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 12:01 pm

Shit, I just heard about this this morning. That's amazing. I wish I was able to catch it on TV :|

Kobe's 62

Thu Dec 22, 2005 1:26 pm

Fuck ESPN. LeBron James scores 50+ and his team loses twice, but all we ever hear about is how much of a basketballing God he is. Kobe scores 62, and at the end of the 3rd has more points than the entire Mavericks team, the Lakers win and he's a ballhog? Morons.

I read a recap today that said Phil gave him the option of going back in the game in the 4th but he chose not to.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 2:00 pm

This is why I am a Kobe "supporter". The microscope Kobe is under is unbelievable. I think Kobe Bryant is doomed for the rest of his career because he honestly can't win against most haters. They will always find something to hate on.

My sentiments exactly. (Y) (Y) (Y)

Seriously, why would you think about passing when you could barely miss?
Kobe sitting in the 4th = Maturity.

They will always find something to hate on.

So true.
Kobe scores 40 = Ballhog
Kobe gets 9 dimes = Stat padding
Kobe shoots less = trying to prove a point

The hate is so ridiculous that even if Kobe discovers the cure for aids,ESPN will probably be ranting about how long it took him to discover it. (N)

Lebron is king!yeah right.
Time to give props when it is deserved.
