That was one dumb question. He doesn't need to be
special to be able to contribute. Lakers just decided that he is a better fit for them than another SF. So you think the only trades happening out there are blockbusters? Every team needs complementary players too, you know.
The Lakers can get a lot more for Caron Butler w/ George/Atkins than Kwame Brown, who they are gambling on.

Haha, are you serious?? I think most of the Laker "fans" are hoping that Kwame turns into a 24/12/3 player
Lol yeah well maybe he will after Amare and Yao sign for the minimum

Well with Odom possibly shifting back to SF the Lakers can afford to take a risk on Kwame I think. I mean it's a 2 year contract with a 3rd year option, it's not like they're locking him up for 7 years at 14 mil a season. To be honest if he could average 12/8 and not be a headcase I'd be quite satisfied by it.

good thing for the lak's...but why atkins to the wizards...they already got arenas...why not like odom or...grant

The Lakers would be insane to trade Butler with Odom/Grant.
Atkins and George are just roster-fillers.

Man, Kwame's going to get crucified by the LA media. I hope Dr. Phil can somehow hypnotize him and make him into Kenghis Khan.
Fri Jul 15, 2005 4:25 am
Lol Butler and Odom for Kwame?
Fri Jul 15, 2005 4:31 am
The Lakers got a steal, afaic.
Caron Butler isn't needed on a team that has Kobe and Devean George. Butler is also not a smart player.
This deal gives them a young player with tons of potential that Phil Jackson can mold, and allows them to move Odom to point forward...which is exactly what Phil wants.
C Mihm
PF Kwame
SF Odom
SG Bryant
PG Atkins
SF George
C Bynum
SG Wafer
PF Grant

As a laker fan..I do not like the trade just because of Butler is in it...If anyone seen the last 6 or 5 games of the season, Kobe and Butler looked as if they have always played together!!! It seems as if this up comming duo will be great in the next seasons!!!! If I was the GM of The Lakers ..If i wanted Brown i would give up Brian Grant,Vlade Divac (if he is still playing)If not..(Jumaine Jones) and maybe Ronny Turiaf (rookie), For Kwame Brown and a sign and trade Steve Blake. It might seem alot of players but if you look at the salaries it would help the lakers in the long run and would help the wizards now

Facts:
1. Kwane Brown is one of the greatest bust taken 1st overall.
2. Kwane faked being sick to complain about his playing time in the playoff.
3. Kwane Brown is only 23 and could turn things around with the right people arund him.
I'm really hating on the Lakers for thinking about trading Caron Butler for someone like Kwane Brown. AT LEAST they SHOULD'VE asked for some FUTURE DRAFT PICKS!!!!!!!! Washington knows for sure they winning big times if this trade if through. I only see happy faces in Washington now.
Maybe it's stupid to say but some think Kwane Brown has the potential to put up numbers ala Kevin Garnett. KG wasn't a superstar starting off his career but he kept up improving and each and every year, can't say the say thing about Kwane. When you take steps backwards it makes your development tougher to reach its potential but if the talents is there you could make it - just ask Grant Hill after so many surgery and how great he played last season.

Lakers crack me up, i love them for making me forget how badly Krause destroyed the Bulls.
Caron scored 21.9 in the last 15 games of the regular season which were all do or die games for the Lakers who were trying to make the playoffs.
Kwame, whose team does make the playoffs, turns into a baby and decides not to show up to practice.
Meanwhile, Bynum, the Shaq replacement, can't even play Turiaf in the Summer League much less the other summer leaguers...
"Ronny Turiaf exploded for 26 points, 11 rebounds and a steal...And what about the Lakers next great center, Andrew Bynum? He played better against the weaker competition, with 16 points, but he still showed he has a lot of work to do. Bynum still gets routinely pushed off the block – he needs to hit the weight room hard. More concerning is that he’s brought over a lot of bad high school habits. He practically never boxes out on rebounds, instead just jumping up and reaching for the ball (which works when you’re a 7 footer playing against 6 footers, but not in the NBA). He’s certainly a willing defender, but he often misses assignments, and is slow to rotate. The Lakers will probably be happy to get 5-10 minutes a game from Bynum this season."

Not to forget everybody cries after not making the playoff. Washington made it last season HOWEVER Kwane decided not to show up!
That is not very professional my friend that is even worst than what Vince Carter pulled in Toronto by playing mediocre for the sake of being traded to another team.
When the Lakers lost the the Pistons in the Finals a couple of years ago, I saw tears coming down of Kobe's face because he wanted to win, he gave his all for the victory. I've seem Kwane played and he has never given his all on the floor and that's why MJ crushed him so much, I think.

The fact is that Kwa
me is spelled with an "M"
Fri Jul 15, 2005 8:24 am
What the fuck does that mean?
And I'd like this trade for the Wiz a lot more.
Very risky for the Lakers.
Fri Jul 15, 2005 8:34 am
As shitty as he is. Phil needs a big body to finish the triangle. Vlade is pretty much done and Andrew is too young. The big gamble is K.B's ability to grasp the triangle. He is a decent passer and that is all he needs to be for the offense to work.

Hmm, with this news I think the Laker's will also try for a trade for Artest, since it's rumoured he's on the trading block. Then they will sign Sprewell as a free agent (if they can convince him the MLE will feed his family), and bring Shawn Kemp out of retirement.
Imagine a lineup of Kobe,Sprewell, Artest, Kwame and Kemp! So many problems, all different! Finally someone would put together the all-attitude problem first team!
If Kwame had problems in Washington playing for Jordan just hoping to make the playoffs, imagine how bad it's going to be playing for Kobe who thinks he can win the championship. He needed to be traded, but LA is the worst possible place for him to go. I feel sorry for the guy.
Fri Jul 15, 2005 10:02 am
What a disfunctional team that would be.
Sprewell: Gimme my children food!
Kobe: No, gimme the ball!
Artest: Why you punk!
Kwame: Nobody cares about me...(cries)
Kemp: I'm stealing Spre's food and his wife!
Spre: I'm gonna choke you Kemp!
Kobe: No, I'm stealing his wife!
Artest: (too busy to talk, since he's beating up random people).
Kwame: (cries) Nobody cares about me..
Lakers have all 5 members exit the stadium due to technicals. With 5 players out, Phil Jackson takes off his suit to reveal a Lakers uniform and says
Phil Jackson: I knew this day would come some day...

haha so basically the Lakers traded
SHAQ for
Brain Grant ( bumbum)
Lamar Odom
Kwame Brown ( bum @ the moment)
gotta love that deal.
too bad the magic got more for tmac than the lakers got for shaq.
Fri Jul 15, 2005 12:10 pm
Kwame 0/0 from the field. Kobe 14/36 from the field! Have fun Kwame!

lakers just got jacked good luck to them next season

I also choose to ignore the fact that Bynum was dominated while defending Eric Chenowith.

Waitaminute, didn't Phil say that Caron Butler was going to fit into his system? There was an article a while back... and now he could be traded.
Fri Jul 15, 2005 2:25 pm
This is a risky move by the Lakers, and BTW, wasn't Phil talking about how he wants Caron Butler to try and run a little bit of point guard for him this season and he was saying how good of a player Butler was? But now, he is on his way to Washington
It's like Phil Jackson is a pimp, he tells a player how good he is and how he may have a future with the team, then next thing you know he sends them off. I don't think this move will actually help the Lakers no more than the way they were when they had Butler and there is no way a player like Kwame can even exceed his potential with that guy name Kobe on the team.
