disapointed with the result wade rushed his shots shaq will definetly have a talk to him after the game. Eddie the captain stepped up he held the fort as much as he could, diesel will be disapointed with himself as well sure enough he was rusty and hasn't had any playing time from that injury but hopefully this will spark the surge miami need to get them over detroit not just in game 2 but rest of series.

yes, quite disappointed...

wade rushed his shots in the final few minutes. He used to penetrate, has a spin move and make a dunk / layup. But he screwed up every opportunities during the last few minutes today...
He might be a bit nervous.

Hope the Heat plays well in the following games ~

Looks like this Heat bandwagon is going to end just like the Lakers ended. Losing to the Pistons MUAHWHAWHUAHHSAHAHA

That game goes out to all the people that were taking Detroit for granted. Yes, I'm going for Miami, I'm a huge Wade fan, but all these people picking Heat in 4, 5, and I was even skeptical about 6 and making it seem like Detroit is the Nets or an injured Wizards team might have had their eyes opened.

Wade will adjust for Game 2, but their's only so much adjusting he can do. The Pistons are a smart team, a good defensive team, have smart players, and have a smart coach, that's why I was laughing when I saw some people predicting things like the Heat in 4 and 5.

Shaq's health is the X-Factor, the Heat need him playing 40 minutes or close to it or they'll be hard pressed to take this one. Shaq only played 33 minutes in this game, and had 1 foul, so you know that's not right.

Wade made some terrible decisions in the game IMO. That last three was just stupid, first of all, they didn't need a three, he is not a 3PT shooter, and Eddie Jones was on fire from outside and Damon Jones seemed to be getting some groove. You either take that at the defense or give it to Shaq for a 2, or drive and dish and get a three. Also Wade took too many outside jumpshots, his head wasn't in the game today, he was taking some shots he wouldn't normally take and just wasn't doing things right.

Detroit really played well, they forced Wade to bad shots, got him frustrated a little too, going at him defensively with Tayshaun, though he did do a good job on Tay. They really played their game, and didn't have their usual offensive droughts till the end of the game, but the Heat were also on a drought at that time. They also did a great job going to the best mis-match of all, Damon Jones vs Anyone, and the anyone was Chauncey Billups.

Tue May 24, 2005 6:20 pm

in true Detroit fashion they blew a nice lead which they started by the big men (Ben Wallace hitting a cpl of 16ft'rs) but some timely buckets by Hamilton then Billups sealed it.

Wade hounded into 7-25....im sure no one expected that, he only got 2FT attempts. Im sure the Pistons will come out hard next game too, if they go up 2-0, we can consider a sweep.

Tue May 24, 2005 8:28 pm

It seems that the Pistons love an underdog status... Shaq was only average tonight but he isnt 100 % yet. We will see how well he plays next game!

Tue May 24, 2005 9:49 pm

The Pistons' championship experience clearly showed tonight while Miami looks nervous and impatient. (Y)

This reminds me of the 2003 eastern conference finals which was expected to be a long one but the Nets still swept the Pistons.

Tue May 24, 2005 10:23 pm

^^yeah i remember that, Games 1 & 2 were close and a couple of questionable calls went against Detroit in both games. After that they folded.

not all looked nervous and impatient.

I think Mourning should be put into the starting lineup. Haslem is simply too short for Rasheed and he always leaves him wide open. I think that was THE problem against Detroit today. Also, D-Wade needs to pick up his game, some way or another. I'm convinced that Prince is one of the greatest guard defenders in the game today, or even ever considering who he has shut down in the playoffs, though. Seriously, his ginormous gorilla like hands (I mean look, he even looks like a monkey) make him an excellent defender in itself. Shaq needs to play more minutes, Rasheed needs to be defended and maybe we should consider hack Ben-ing (why not? It seems that for some odd reason this isn't such a popular method.) Wade needs to keep on driving to the basket to get those early calls, try to get a few of their players into foul trouble.

This "bandwagon" ain't over even IF the Heat do lose. Shaq has a few more years left, Dwayne Wade will only get better and Miami is sure to lure in AT LEAST 1 KEY free agent, for sure.

Just so you know this year Miami has a huge batch of expiring contracts including Udonis Haslem, Alonzo, Shandon Anderson, Christian Laettner, Steve Smith and Wang Zhizhi. Also Damon Jones and Keyon Dooling have player options which means they can opt out and try and get a better deal and they probably will. Finally Shaq has a player option on his contract this year and he will probably threaten to opt out if he doesn't get an extension for three more years at $30 million dollars a year.

The Heat are over the cap as it is so it doesn't look good for all the "new" Heat fans next year.

Don't worry though Shaq will probably opt out and sign with the Hawks and you'll be able to cheer for them next year.

Yep, and just think of all the other teams that will get better next year that are already at tip-top shape this year.

Detroit is showing their championship experience and almost everyone on their team has championship experience. The Heat have a bunch of veterans on their team that never really won anything along with some young players that haven't been anywhere either. So that's one reason why I think Detroit will win this series period. I have to agree with fgrep, with some people considering the Heat was just going to run over the Pistons which I couldn't believe. Look who the Heat played in the previous rounds compared to what the Pistons played. I wouldn't mind the Heat winning because I like Wade, but I would rather for the Pistons to win because hardly anyone believes in them.

Wed May 25, 2005 4:04 am

I wouldn't say that hardly anyone believes in the Pistons, they won the last championship after all which is something everyone is aware of.

I'm still rooting for the Heat no matter the outcome of this series, which they will hopefulyl win.

Even though they won the title last year, from what I've seen on this board, not a lot are picking the Pistons considering the strength of San Antonio, Phoenix, and Miami.

Wed May 25, 2005 8:37 am

Udonis Haslem, Alonzo, Shandon Anderson, Christian Laettner, Steve Smith and Wang Zhizhi.

OMFG, they're fucked!!!

Hehe, sorry. My girlfriend had 10/12 games correct. She failed this time :P I think Wade was so frustated he wasn't playing like his normal-self. He usually attacks the rim, Prince got in his head and didn't let him pass (Y)

That was assuming full strength teams.

If people knew Shaq would be having blood drained out of his body and Johnson would break his interior skull, i think basically everyone would predict Spurs-Detroit.

Yeah losing a few of those guys isn't bad but losing Haslem, Zo, D. Jones and Dooling is a real big deal when you are over the cap and can't sign free agents.

I wonder why everyone says Kobe was a ballhog and wouldn't pass the ball when the Lakers lost to the Pistons but now they say the Pistons wouldn't let Wade pass the ball? They shut down passing lanes.

By the way the Pistons double teamed Kobe every time he got the ball in that series so anyone who thinks that Wade is going to come back and play better next time should think about the fact that he wasn't doubled and went 7-25.

Well after this series is over maybe Shaq will rename Wade Flush cause his game is gonna be in the toilet against the Pistons.

Wed May 25, 2005 10:21 am

That's why I put in bold Anderson, Laettner and Zhizhi. They can be let go. Haslem and D. Jones should be the priority of the team.

Well, Kobe is a ballhog, but he had open player to pass the ball to, and didn't do it. He was aiming more to the Finals MVP than the Championship itself. He, IMHO, was trying to show everybody he was the leader and THE man in that Lakers team last year.

Wed May 25, 2005 2:10 pm

I have a strong feeling that the Detroit Pistons will repeat as NBA champions this year...

Wed May 25, 2005 3:00 pm

the problem with Lakers was besides Kobe they had no players that could create anything. All spot up shooters essentially, and since there was no dbl teaming of Shaq there was no open shots and they couldnt create shit.

Miami at least has EJones who can still create stuff.

Wed May 25, 2005 3:05 pm

Bryant couldn't create shit either last year, the refs weren't falling for his acrobatic tumbles & he couldn't get a shot off given the fact Prince's long fingers were in his face all the time. Throw in the fact he was pooped from chasing Rip behind screens from all angles & you've got an ineffective Bryant. He tried, he failed, LA lost.

Btw, I'm not saying it was his fault.
