if there were willing to trade with in the conference they could have gotten alot more from dallas. the lakers got greedy and demanded dirk and blew the deal.
Mon Nov 15, 2004 4:19 pm
The lakers should have asked for Wade... good try asking for Dirk but maybe they should have still gone for the original offer from the Mavs. I also always thought that getting Chris Webber could have been a good idea but thats only me!
Cause lamar needs the ball as much as Kobe to contribute... and it iosnt working yet. Wait till all-star break and we'll have an idea of how good this current squad really is.

They were going after Wade, but Miami didnt want to include him in the trade.
Lamar is a good player, but he makes dumb mistakes alot of times.

well it just came in to my mind about this.
what if alston has not yet sign with the raptors, and heat will give alston to lakers on a sign and trade deal. will that be a greater trade or not.
i know it wont be odom, grant, butler and alston for shaq (with alston in place of the draft pick). i think miami weill try to trade odom, grant, alston and draft pick though.
thinking if this happen then we have a good or say decent point guard in alston than having atkins at starting point guard??
just a thought...

Atkins is hitting at a high percentage. He's just not getting the chance to take more shots. I think the lakers should have kept Payton if they were really interested in having the best 1 possible to play. But after trading Payton they are either:
a) Confident in Atkins
b) Giving Lamar and Kobwe more leway to bring the ball up
or both.
So I dont think they would have wanter Rafer.
Do u guys reakon the lakers will make a trade by all-star break?
Tue Nov 16, 2004 1:24 pm
i think the trade involving GP was all about Mihm and Banks. Mihm gave them another big man and banks as they point guard. Atkins was the back-up PG. But when the trade amended and send Banks back, we then have no choice but used Atkins as they starter.
what Atkins will give to the team will be just bonus.
about a trade before all-star break. i want an earlier trade, maybe before Malone came back coz i want Brown to stay. if Lakers can get a 2 for 1 or 1 for a future draft pick to open a roster sot for Malone.

Good win against the Clippers today. Everyone contributed, and Kobe shot over 50% AND included 11 assists. Which is a good thing
Thu Nov 18, 2004 10:34 pm
Kobe had 23 and 11 on 9/16 shooting (?) or was it 8/16...
and 6 guys in double figures. awesome

That foot injury doesnt seem to bother him pretty much with his airial attacks.
Yay for 5-4

"With everybody we had last year, there was only one ball to go around,'' Cook said. ``Everybody had their egos. Everybody gets along this year. We know that we have to work every day to get better.''
Asked about Bryant, Cook said: ``I think he's more involved with the players, talking to them, even hanging out with them a little bit. You can tell he wants to be the leader of this team.''
- Really confirm to me that Kobe was a 'loner' on his team last year. Maybe chilling with all the guys on his team will help his game.
And interesting:
The Lakers are 0-4 when allowing 100 or more points and 5-0 when giving up less than 100.
- Maybe the Lakers lose when they try to hard on offence and let the other teams dominate them...

The Lakers are leading the Suns with a 27-15 score. Odom is doing a excellent job on the boards as he grabbed 8 in the first quarter
Butler leads the game with 10 points after the first. This game is looking to be very interesting. GO Lakers!!!

kobe4mvp... u also forgot to say Kobe hasnt scored and so far is 0-8 from the field!
5 minute or so left and Lamar is 9 and 9 and 3 and caron has 10 and 3
Amare is dominating inside with 15 on 8-12
EDIT: Kobe just scroed a free throw, he has 1,3, 4
but the lakers are doing great!
Sat Nov 20, 2004 1:03 pm
EDIT: No they are not lol...this thread is cursed...everytime when I post something about them during a game when they start playing well, the screw it up.....Kobe is shooting TERRIBLE.
Sat Nov 20, 2004 1:06 pm
EDIT: true true, the Suns just caught up...
EDIT EDIT: I just noticed Butler only scored another basket and Lamar only grabbed one more rebound in the second.. oh boy
Sat Nov 20, 2004 2:12 pm
Even tho this thread is cursed.....GO LAKERS!!!! Kobe with the triple double, Lakers up by 1 with over a minute left.
Sat Nov 20, 2004 2:21 pm
I knew I shouldnt post in here
Sat Nov 20, 2004 2:24 pm
Damn.. Kobe blew it twice.
He missed the 3 pointer where Luke got the offensive foul (which looked like a bad call to me). Then he shot a wild looking 3 pointer later on. I had doubts in my mind when he released it. It looked like he swung the ball around as he was going up and that screwed him up.

This might be the first cursed thread in the history of the NLSC

(seeing asthough Grant Hill hasn't gone down injured yet)
I have an idea however. Everytime the Lakers are playing, we should insult them as much as possible... maybe it'd have an adverse effect or something.
Sat Nov 20, 2004 9:55 pm
maybe we should say kobe gonna die and we will win the next game...
man kobe4mvp u jinxed us! lol

This isn't Lakers but anyone watching Clippers? 81-82. Tmac to shoot last ft, 1.1 sec left.

With the Lakers now 5-5, I just took a look at Kobe's
Season Splits.
For the most part, the differences are obvious. In games the Lakers have won, he's shooting better (43.8% compared to 35.7%), grabbing more rebounds (6.8 to 6.6) and handing out more assists (6.2 to 5.4). However, he's averaging fewer points in victories (24.4) than losses (31.2).
His season numbers are looking quite nice at the moment (27.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 5.8 apg along with 1.1 spg and 1.3 bpg), but the Lakers are still at .500. Some of his best performances as well as a triple double have come in losing efforts.
I'd say Kobe feels tempted, maybe even obligated to be scoring 28, 29, 30 points per game now that Shaq's gone and the Lakers are now solely "his team", but it doesn't seem to be working as well as you might think. After all, that famous basketball player who wore number 23 scored a lot of points and his teams fared pretty well. George Mikan led the league in scoring year after year in the 50s and his team was the NBA's first (and least celebrated) dynasty. It is possible for a player to lead the league in scoring and lead his team to victory.
The ideal solution would be for Kobe to take better shots and to share the ball a little more, especially with Odom. Five Lakers are averaging double figures so far this season, but Odom could be averaging 4-5 points more. The Lakers are averaging 96.4 ppg to their opponents 98.2. Kobe's missed 126 shots so far this season, 80/206 for 38.8%. Some of those attempts could be going to Odom and co. That said, the rest of the Lakers would need to step up and deliver given the opportunity.
Sun Nov 21, 2004 2:24 pm
I think the reason Kobe scores more in the losing games is because it's hopeless by then. The Lakers are down big, or the game is pretty much already over, and what happens is I see them just giving it to Kobe and let him score. It's just a matter of whether the other players can get involved and knock down their shots. When they do, the Lakers do good and win. When they don't they all start giving it to Kobe and let him have his try at the defense, and the game is usually well over by then.
Sun Nov 21, 2004 2:50 pm
Well... Kobe when he loses is when he has to step up cause he's a one man team and in those losses... noone else played well...
I know that he claims that his left foot isn't affecting his play but hopefully he'll be healthy and we can see if it did bother him. Better shots would help and so would Odom stepping up.
hmmm... i forgot to say something else... damn....
oh yeah... do u think that he is still trying to be like mike cause i think he's gotten over that. But it is probably most possible that deep down he will somettimes feel the need to try it all himself...
