i dont understand why people moan about shaq having a big mouth. I personally prefer someone who speaks his mind rather than some lamer who just says what good pr dictates. same with tmac, at least he's telling people straight up what he expects-- to win, i prefer that over someone who just moans behind managements back like a prick.

if LA wins-- shaq
if Detroit wins -- rip hamilton, but it should be big ben.

*sigh* See, great minds think alike, why doesn't anybody else agree with me this much? Oh wait, that would be no fun. This is freaky though. :D

After all, the first Finals MVP trophy was awarded to a member of the losing team (Jerry West) so it wouldn't be without precedent. The main men for the Lakers are also bigger names than the main men for the Pistons, and Shaq has the best individual numbers so far.

If the Pistons win and the MVP is handed out to a Laker, there will be a riot in the city of Detroit

But with kobe, a lot of the time he's out their playing the pr game, saying the right thing, letting people think he's a real good guy, and then suddenly out of nowhere he speaks his mind once in awhile. You can't go halfway, you have to be one or the other and stick with it. If you're going to have a big mouth, you better have a big mouth all the way :D look at iverson, in a burst of honesty, telling the press practice is stupid, and then suddenly next thing you know he's in love with Larry Brown "Oh Coach Brown, he's beautiful", "Oh Coach Brown he's wonderful". Holy dogfarts for brains, gimme a break. Then when Brown gets fired "Oh Brown he was like a father to me", uh huh, and my feet smell like lollipops.

Hey i'm not saying its bad to play the pr game, some guys just dont want the media attention and who can blame them. My point originally is that to me its not a fault to be outpsoken, and to that i add: as long as you're consisent in your out (or soft) spokeness.

unless Kobe drops 90+ over the next 3 games, it's between Shaq and Billups

I agree. After Rip's performance in Game 3 I thought he might take the honour, but Billups has been huge throughout the series, including the crucial Game 4. Not that Rip's been playing badly, Billups is just having a great Finals series.

5. Well coz i want to coz he is my favorite player.

Can't guard him? CAN'T GUARD HIM??? Kobe has his moments, true, but he is infamous for being the most INCONSISTENT players of all time. Averages, lets say 29 ppg. Come's into the finals, and sucks. Hits a lucky shot: Everybody loves him again. I'm so tired of that crap. Besides, in game 4, Prince just handed Kobe his own ass. Prince flat out shut him down.

Don't even get me started on that crap about "If the Lakers are in it, a Laker will win the MVP award" This is the worst the Lakers have ever played in their multi-decade history. Kobe and Shaq can not carry this team. It's been proven by the Pistons. They continue to shut down everybody but Kobe and Shaq, and the Lakers continue to lose. Coincidence? No.

btw, if you take this personally, you don't know me very well :P

And I do expect some hate from this remark :D

MVP was as I predicted, Billups

funny thing about it was that Billups is the first player since, Joe Dumars (a piston!) to win the MVP before appearing to an All-Star game.

Well-deserved. I thought Rip might get it after Game 3, but Chauncey truly has had a great series.

you jinxed my choice!! i still think the TRUE finals mvp is ben wallace because he defines the team, but it just goes to show what a great TEAM detroit is, you could probably make a case for every starter as the mvp.

IMO it should have gone to Shaq. I don't care if his team lost, without him every game would have been a 40+ point massacre.

This should become the "playoffs" MVP instead of the "finals" MVP...then it would got to rip, IMO.
Billups is the "finals" MVP though...congrats

I still havent read any articles about the the game last night, but when was the last time that a player won the MVP while he has never been selected for a All-Star team?

Billups deserved to win the award and did, and although I'm biased towards Ben Wallace, he wouldn't get it, no dissrespect, but suppose he'd have to touch all areas to be even considred, maybe if they had a Defensive Player of the Finals Award, he'd be in the running for that.

Rasheed was an option that I though might get it, but was held up by the Lakers like someone said. Rip proabaly didn't have the upper hand over Kobe until the last 3 games or so, but played really well in the PO's. But Billups or Rasheed were my two. Another MoTown gurad getting the MVP... cool!!

well i still think Billups was MVP, he stepped up big time and even when Kobe was guarding him he didn't compromise the teams mission, he dished out 5 assists in the 1st i think along with 6 points. he had that nice crossover and1 on Payton

Everyone should have been considered for MVP

Al Michaels claimed it was Joe Dumars.
