I know Bowen will be on Lebron but he was the last 2 games also, I remember James laughing at Bowen trying to contain him. Thats one reason I think the cavs stand a chance against SA. Spurs-Cavs in a nutshell:
1.Lebron plays great, so does Duncan.
2. TP shows up for a few games, as do cavs roleplayers
3. Slow low scoring series.
4. Series comes down to Manu's play making the difference.

If cavs can slow Gino they have a good shot at this series.
SPURS are clearly the better team, but since when does the better team always win?(eyeball @ last years finals)

personally i think if the cavs do get through, the spurs will be more concerned about containing the rest of the team.

which is what they've been doing to every team these playoffs.

Anyway, if we do lose tomorrow, it has to be in an emphatic blow out. Looks like we need a coaching change, and personnel change.....perhaps JVG would be a good choice?

The Pistons are, and will always be one of my favorite teams. But, they are an old team, that isn't quite a championship team. It may be time to rebuild.

The other option is adding to the current team, firing Flip (he sucks, why is he still here? Bob Weiss would be better) and trying for one last title run in 2008.

Although their season is far from over (unless they lose), they are not currently championship caliber.

BTW, I really miss the Mavs right now. If the Clips had got the 8th seed, and Chi-Town had beaten NJ for the two seed, Dallas v. Spurs would be the talk of the forum; and naturally Detroit would be a lock for the playoffs.

If only....

If Lebron goes off and Cavs do a good job containing the spurs, can we expect one of the best shots ever by Robert Horry?

Slamming opposite pg in a game that is essentially over could work if Lebron is on the bench...

Or he might have more up his sleeves.. either way
with the way Duncan, Parker, Manu is playing, also their team def and individual cheapshot like Bowen.. it is hard to beat, + u gotta deal with wutever damage Robert Horry does to the other team.. (aka suspension to key players) and wutever Cheapshot Bowen does to the other team(physically)

First you have to consider the fact that they played the Spurs early in the season when they had a terrible record (slightly above 50 % this month) and that the face of the Spurs changed. Jaque Vaughn got DNP vs. Cleveland, Robert Horry was a starter, Michael Finley was way way off and Beno Udrih got more Playing Time than Finley and Oberto combined. Both games were before the All-Star break and the Spurs were a completely different team in the second part of the season.

Bowen is no real answer for LeBron but the Spurs team defence is. It doesn't matter if he averages 30 and 10 or not, the Spurs should only worry about executing well on the offensive end and containing the rest of the Cavs. When they stick to Zone Defence and force Jumpers on LeBron he can be slowed down.

Spurs - Cavs would be a no-brainer. A one man team can't beat a whole team in a 7 game series. The Pistons losses came not due to LeBron being superior. They only have to blame themselves for their bad execution on the offensive end. Billups and Rip struggled at points of this series and that's the reason they lost. I expect the pistons (especially Sheed) to be more focused the next game and they'll take one in Cleveland.

bad execution on detroit's part<------due to cavs defense.
Mike Brown is a horrible coach, however he did have a brilliant game plan for Chauncey B. Lets not forget that cavs ARE in the conf. finals too.(they had 2 get there)

i'll counter with this.......

bad execution on detroit's part <------due to coaching

no doubt Cavs D is pretty damn good, but, when you go away from your best offensive option then your pretty much done. I, of course am talking about Rip Hamilton coming off the curl. This play has been non existant this entire series (and last year, especially vs Miami) except for Game 1....why????? :wall:

no curls = no ball movement = isos= losses

Rasheed's just been thrown out...I'm having flashbacks of last year when the Heat would constantly lead the Pistons by double digits at their arena. What angers me the most is that flopper Sideshow Bob , Pistons trying to score and then he flops and acts like he's been fouled and then the refs call an offensive foul on Detroit. What the hell?

Okay...Daniel Gibson needs to stop hitting three-pointers , and the Pistons need to hit a damn shot. The only points they've had in a long time are those Chauncey FT's. It looks very bleak for Dee-troit Basketball right now.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 1:40 pm

Well , it looks to be official now. Congrats to the Cavs , they defied the odds. It is their first trip to the NBA finals.

I want to retract the statement I made earlier that the spurs would win in 6. I am so infuriated with the Cavs , with Varejao's flopping , with the saddened play-by-play of Pistons voice George Blaha , disappointed as he describes the Cavaliers ascension to the NBA finals. The Spurs will sweep in 4.

Fuck the Cavs.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 1:40 pm

the way pistons are playing i rather watch paint dry...wtf is this? this isnt detroit basketball... this is like watching elementary school boys play...

Sun Jun 03, 2007 1:59 pm

Wow... Cavs in the finals; led by Daniel Gibson's 31 points.

This is shocking to say the least.

Prediction: Spurs in 6... The Spurs will give away two on the road, just to win the title on their homecourt. Unless Duncan or Parker goes down; the Cavaliers have no chance to win the title.

Varejao will beat Ginobili in the flopping battle, but Manu's Spurs will win the war.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 2:03 pm

i think the cavs will be lucky to see a game 5, and they will only get that 5th game if lebron plays a monster game to edge out a win.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 2:05 pm

well looks like flip is going to get fired whether deserved or not. some really wierd decisions from brown too - what was he thinking giving bron a rest in the 2nd after a 21 minute rest?

cavs didnt win because of varejao's flops, cavs won because something is wrong with detroit. they got killed on the boards, and had little killer instinct. they shouldn't start rebuilding or anything, but something is definitely missing.

i wouldn't bet on the cavs, but i'm not exactly confident it'll be as easy as everyone is predicting either.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 2:07 pm

not a big detroit fan by any means, but damn, tonight's officiating was pretty one-sided .. and that's putting it lightly. not taking anything away from cleveland though, they just murked detroit the last four games.. and big ups to them for putting the pistons away.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 2:12 pm

Well at least we got slaughtered in the 4th quarter, AGAIN, in an elimintation game. Flop Saunders has to go, any team that loses 4 straight in the playoffs doesn't deserve to be there in the 1st place.....maybe if he played the bench we'd have someone like Gibson (rookie!!!) who'd be able to score off the bench.

hypothetical situation.....Manu Gino drives to the hoop and makes "contact" with Varejao....both go sprawling 15 feet like they just got hit with a grenade....block or charge? Let the flop fest 07 begin! Spurs in 5.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 2:18 pm

Well that's just like last year, Detroit goes high in the playoffs, gets an easy first round, then a longer 2nd one and falls in the conf. finals... I think Cavs got a little bit lucky, though some guys like Z and Hughes really stepped it up in this series...
As far as I'm seein' it should be Spurs in 6, but it might just be in 7...

Sun Jun 03, 2007 2:21 pm

If the series is officiated like the ECF was , if Varejao gets calls for flopping...the Cavs will win in 6. Then I will boycott the NBA.

If thats what you think then it will go to 7 games seeing as the home court is different in the finals.
For the Spurs it will be: HHAAAHH

Edit: lol, just looked at what I wrote and realised that the Spurs can actually win one away....

easy. if it's in cleveland - a charge. in san antonio a blocking foul. ;)

Having the chance to reach the finals in just 4 years in the league is an enormous feat for LeBron, even without a great supporting cast. Hats off to Heir Jordan. (Y)

Now, let's see the Wade fans turn to the LBJ bandwagon.

Looking forward to the Flop Wars

Sun Jun 03, 2007 2:59 pm

LeBron who?

I saw a guy named Daniel Gibson, 5-5 from the 3 point line, 15 FTs, 31 points shoulder the Cavs team and power them through.

Bill Simmons is right, the entire "Mr Big Shot" name for Chauncey is a bit of a joke.

Sun Jun 03, 2007 3:12 pm

I think the Cavs were like 7th on the list of teams I would want to win the title. But with #7 facing #29; I'll have to bandwagon LeBron, Boobie, Manu 4.0 and the rest for this series.

Come on Cleveland! Steal A game!

Sun Jun 03, 2007 3:13 pm

Cavs will win it in 3. Yes, 3. The officiating will eat at the Spurs until they are crying after game 3. Then they will refuse to step on the court for game 4, causing them to forfeit. :P
