This is awesome, i saw the news on my phone

I'm dieing to see how melo and AI combine. Im gonna boot up 2k7 and see what Denvers new team rating is...
Although i doubt the CPU will accept the trade
Goes on sale tomorrow. I've actually already got an AI jersey, so that was a nice coincedence.
EDIT: i went into Rebel Sports today to try and piss off 1 of the sales attendants.
I asked for an AI jersey, which he pointed one out, but then i said No, he plays for Denver, and then he said ahh no ho plays for Philadelphia. The look on his face when i told him he'd been traded and that he'd gotten into a fight with a customer only to be wrong

I know it's stupid to say.... but the only thing I don't like about this trade... is the color schemes of the Nuggets jerseys. Disgusting.
Thu Dec 21, 2006 2:29 pm
It's kinda sad to see older dark skinned women to be the first ones with the new Iverson jerseys.
Thu Dec 21, 2006 2:52 pm
So is Denver Nuggets Carmelo or Allen's team now?
Thu Dec 21, 2006 3:50 pm
i went into Rebel Sports today to try
They have that in Australia too? My god I hate that store so much. The guys there are like braindead when it comes to basketball, even the captain of the Canterbury Rams (our NBL team) didn't know what the fuck he was talking about. That and the fact every thing is way over priced - its like $25 for a pair of socks
Thu Dec 21, 2006 5:41 pm
Talk about a bargain for Denver.
No team could top Andre Miller & two low picks for AI? Sad.
Thu Dec 21, 2006 6:20 pm
that iverson jersey looks mean, ive always liked the new denver strip. AI's first game prediction = 24p 7a 3r 1s 0b
Thu Dec 21, 2006 9:32 pm
Can anyone remember a bigger trade this decade? Or even in the decade before that?
Thu Dec 21, 2006 9:44 pm
Could the Heat-Lakers transaction compete with this recent one? After all, Miami also did give up a few good players. Much better than what the Nuggets gave up in my opinion.

I've merged the two threads seeing as the discussion continued in the original one after the trade was made.
While the trade is not a terrible one for the Sixers and will help them a little in their bid to overhaul and rebuild around their young players, it's fair to say that it's not the ideal swap for a player such as Allen Iverson. A couple of big, expiring contracts and higher picks would have been preferable though as most people have said these past couple of weeks, the Sixers had left themselves little leverage and with the 2007 Draft projected as being a deep one few teams are keen to give up lottery picks...even for a perennial All-Star.
Andre Miller isn't Allen Iverson but he's no scrub either. Joe Smith's a solid forward with an expiring contract. The picks might lead to a couple of steals in next year's Draft. All in all, given the way the Sixers handled the situation it was a decent swap for them. In theory, AI should command much more in return but they committed to trading him without much leverage so this will have to do. It could have been worse.
For Denver, it's a great trade on paper and an interesting gamble. A lot of people seem to be predicting that it's eventually going to blow up in their face and not without reason, but to me it seems a worthwhile risk. Taking a chance on acquiring a player like Allen Iverson is a safer bet than, say, trading an established young 20 and 10 player for a high school prospect with question marks.
Funnily enough, the last team to feature the two leading scorers in the league was the Denver Nuggets back in 1982/1983 (Alex English and Kiki Vandeweghe, with 28.4 ppg and 26.7 ppg respectively), who went 45-37 and lost to San Antonio 4-1 in the Conference Semifinals that year. No matter how the Nuggets fare this season, it will be interesting to see what kind of numbers AI and Melo can put up as a duo.

this link was posted before but there are some good videos there on ai, and the one with stephen a smith seemed to pretty much confirm all of what i first thought when i heard about the trade.
denver fans, there's more reason to have hope that ai will not have negative effects on your team than what may have been said about ai.
as long as the team knows how to win, he'll probably try to fit what he does in with that more than make them adjust to him. i doubt he cares that much about jacking shots to screw his chances of winning. with philly he was always his only chance of winning so most people would jack up shots there once they got tired of losing.
webbers statements since he has been there could actually have been more disruptive to the sixers so called culture than anything ai has done in his time there. especially saying it being the worst situation he's ever been in. well has he noticed it's been pretty much the worst he's ever played in his career too.

tsk tsk. now who the hell would try that
Metsis
interesting analysis. i don't think Denver will become instant title contenders myself and Iverson's transition won't be easy as a snap of finger
but i do think Iverson and Anthony are pretty damn good halfcourt players and overall are better perimeter players then the aforementioned Nets trio. the big factor here is that Anthony and Iverson attack the basket, whether it be in transition or halfcourt, and get to the line a ton
should be interesting...

This has been "answered" (pun intended i guess?) many times...he will simply become a west player rather than an east players, its happened before, it will happen again....
I'm looking forward to 'melo coming back and seeing these guys adjust. Iverson claims he's giong to step back and give some of the load to 'melo, and 'melo made similar statements....we'll just have to wait and see what happens...

Camby now injured, again. Broke his finger again. That's one thing you can say about AI. He'll play through injury, good luck getting Marcus Camby to.
Sat Dec 23, 2006 7:24 am
IF only they were at all close in size
Sat Dec 23, 2006 9:30 am
atleast the injury to camby is happening now, we all know he gets one every year but atleast this way he shuld be fully fit come playoff time
