The importance of getting a deal done and allowing the players to focus only on winning is huge. Also, getting him in here so he can get to know the plays and the guys is important too.

The thing I don't get is this whole time all we have heard is "Pacers are getting offered atleast one all-star but they want to wait it out and get the best offer possible." Now, a month or more later they settle on getting a Maggette, who is good, that is hurt for 6 weeks. It seems like those other "deals" were better than this one. Now it will be over 2 months from the Artest thing starting to Maggette coming back that they will have a full team. I think Walsh hurt the team in this situtation.

him and brand together sounds intresting

No deal for Maggette according to Donnie Walsh, but one day before we traded Jalen Rose, he made almost this exact same comment. So that could mean that a trade will officially come tomorrow.

How do you feel obout Corey, Indy?
Fri Jan 13, 2006 10:44 am
I told this to Indy on AIM (which wasn't a good idea), if the Pacers traded Artest for Adonal Foyle straight up he would be praising Walsh for the move.

I'd praise him even more.

Sleep, child.

I told Riot this on aim, but most of you think of me as a Pacers homer, like I support every decision the franchise makes. Far from the truth. From the time period after Larry Bird left, untill Rick Carlisle was hired, I have been a harsh critic of the Pacers front office. I think Donnie did an excellent job rebuilding while still making the playoffs every year, but he could have done so much more. We rejected a trade that would have brought Tracy McGrady here twice! The Magic were willing to do Ron for Tracy straight up!! Imagine if we would have done that.
Trying to keep Isiah Thomas as a coach was a horrible decision too, and thank god for Larry Bird. Larry did the right thing in getting rid of Isiah, who should have never been hired.
Also, we should have traded Jalen Rose earlier then we did when he had even more value. Jalen was a cancer, period.
However, Donnie is doing a great job dealing with the Ron Artest trade, you guys can talk shit all you want, but I've been consistent in saying the Donnie will make a good deal, once its finalized whether its Corey Maggette, or someone else, people will be asking how Indy managed to pull this off. Mark My Words...
I think Donnie is trying to get Chris Wilcox and the Clips (actually Minnys) first round draft pick along with Maggette, and that's why it isn't done yet.

..................................Yeah, okay then. Heluva trade, that, Artest for a Penny. Pacers really thinking with that one.
Fri Jan 13, 2006 12:19 pm
I think Penny's career is pretty much over, I can't see the Pacers trading Artest for him. I know what he meant, but I couldn't resist
Fri Jan 13, 2006 12:48 pm
cool! a brand-artest reunion... I just hope this does not mess up the chemistry the clips has going on...
but they definitely have better pieces around them now....
chris anstey/perdue/simpkins -> chris kaman/wilcox
starks/hawkins -> mobley
matt maloney/randybrown -> cassel/livingston
The bulls was such a poor team back then, I miss the days when I used them for practice in the nba live game, against every team... And in the dynasty mode, trying to cut the crappy players...
Fri Jan 13, 2006 2:07 pm
The deal is off the table, Donnie Walsh rejected the trade when Pacers doctors wouldn't clear Maggette. Who knows what this really means. As far as we know the trade could still happen tomorrow if LA threw in another player, or if this is all just a smokescreen.
Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:15 pm
god dam it i wish they would hurry up and trade him
Sat Jan 14, 2006 12:01 am
It's gonna be funny shit watching the chemistry between him and kobe.....or lack thereof.

really? wow...

I like Maggette and his upside, but he's been too injury prone over his career, so its always a risk for the Pacers to bring him in.

How many years do you have to be in the league before you officially no longer have "upside?" The guy was drafted 7 years ago wasn't he? I think he is what he is at this point...

Just some news to stir up the rumour pot...
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/n ... 41,00.html
Although Martin seems to be crossed off as the potential trade bait for Artest, it is interesting that Denver's in the picture. Also, it says that LAC may be looking to sweeten up the deal for Artest...
Sun Jan 15, 2006 10:23 am
Its funny that Denver is still involved, other then Camby or Carmello, I can't think of what we would want, especially since we already rejected Martin/Lenard.

How long do you want Maggette to adjust to his teammates for? He's potentially gone for the season
Sun Jan 15, 2006 1:31 pm
The hot rumor in Minnesota is a 4 way trade with Indiana/Boston/Seattle/Minnesota. It goes something like this:
Seattle gets-Ron Artest
Timberwolves gets-Ronald Murray, Mark Blount and maybe a first rounder from Boston
Indiana gets-Nick Collison and first rounder from Seattle
Boston gets-Michael Olowokandi
Apparently, the deal is close to happening and the people at KFAN who have inside sources with the organization say that this deal could be completed by Tuesday. They sound like the Indiana part is kind of iffy, and it could be broken down into a Boston/Seattle/Minnesota trade where Seattle gets Marcus Banks and no picks are really exchanged.

Wow... you're a bit late. We've already established in this thread that we rejected the Maggette deal.
Riot, I don't know what you're talking about. The rumor that's flying around now involves either Bynum or Odom, and possibly Francis.
But I've learned not to believe anything I read anymore.
