Only thing left is for the league to finalize this deal, expected this evening. I think it should be expected Carmelo's PPG will take a hit, as he now has got a LOT of help on offense, but with the expense of a good playmaker.

wonder if Dermarr will give up the #3. he probably will.
the Nugs would want to sell #3 Iverson jerseys
the players they are getting are a little light, though the expiring contract of Joe Smith could help in the FA market but the picks they are getting are mid and late first round at best. Their best pick this year will be their own.
edit: merged the other thread into this one.

he might give it up voluntarily out of respect for him like Iggy did for CWebb... I think derMarr wore #7 before so he might switch to that.

Axel wrote:Yeah, real complete. Minus the horrible defense, lack of perimeter shooting (no, Iverson has never been a great 3pt shooter), maturity, and soon to be team chemistry. Write it down, Denver won't make it past the conference semis without Andre Miller. He's the unsung hero of that team and by far one of the league's most underrated PGs - the guy is never injured! He's only missed 3 games in 8 seasons.
I still rank Denver below San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, Houston (if healthy), Utah, New Orleans (once Peja and David West return) and probably the Lakers as well. 7th or 8th seed at best, and with Carmelo suspended for 15 games, they might not even make the playoffs.
I don't know about Miller ... but you underestimate Iverson here. He has a huge chip on his shoulder now, he will want to stick it to Philly big time. And he can do this. From what I've read, Melo would absolutely love to play with AI. Karl is a coach I think AI can have respect for.
I'd pencil them in as a serious title contender now ... AI is just that good.
Wed Dec 20, 2006 8:59 am
well good for fucking denver.....at least we can start rebuilding now.
by the way, all you motherfuckas getting on the denver bandwagon, get the hell off....there gonna do nothing over there.....melo and iverson will be a fucking mess.....

NEVER. It would be like Michael jordan giving no 23 to rusty larue, Iverson is great, but pales in comparison to Dermarr Johnson.
I feel empathy for those who support the Sixers. I'm a Raptors fan.

Denver seems like an alright move. From the Nuggets standpoint, I'd rather not have traded for him. But who knows, the team might do really, really well. From the 76'ers standpoint, it was a good enough trade it feels like. Not that many teams were interested in an aging superstar with a huge contract, and those that were wasn't willing to give up good enough players..
Lol, a little pissed off there 'Buckley'?
edit: Great avatar Its_asdf. Gotta love Strong Bad, but Homestar is still the bestest

What the fuck are you talking about? Im not pissed, just pointing out the nuggets wont be any better with Iverson.

Iverson has been traded to Denver along with Ivan McFarlin for Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two 2007 first-round draft picks.
Lets hope Denver can make a push for the title with the 1 and 2 leading scorers in the league.

I doubt it's going to work. With AI's ego it's going to be like the Knicks.
Wed Dec 20, 2006 9:27 am
*cough* You have an Iverson jersey in your sig.
edit: Great avatar Its_asdf. Gotta love Strong Bad, but Homestar is still the bestest
Nah, I prefer Strong Bad over Hometsar, but Homsar wins over both of 'em.

im looking forward to see iverson with his babyblue arm-sleeve and babyblue headband and babyblue jersey and babyblue-face
Wed Dec 20, 2006 9:31 am
Buckley: Well, you're an Iverson/76'ers fan right? Plus I just didn't get the impression that you were pointing something out. What with all the swearing and all..
Its_asdf: Hehe, that's true. Homsar >> all
Wed Dec 20, 2006 9:35 am
Wow. Looks like the Sixers won't be in the playoffs for a while. I can't wait until Anthony returns. until then, this should be interesting to see how this works.
I remember trading K-Mart, Camby and Andre Miller just for Iverson and Dalembert. Unless the two draft picks are lottery picks, this is a lopsided trade.

Im pointing out that the Nuggets will do nothing. Theres the spurs, mavs, lakers, jazz, clippers, suns, out there in the west. They will get their ass kicked in the first round.

You see the tattoos and the hip hop image and you just assume AI has a huge ego. Truth is, he wants to win over anything, and that's all he cares about. Iverson will be more then happy to defer to Carmello if they are winning ball games. My only question is whether or not Carmello will be willing to defer.
Wed Dec 20, 2006 9:55 am
Is it too early to call Denver overrated? I'm wondering how they'll do against other West powerhouses like Dallas, San Antonio, Utah, and Phoenix. If Carmello and Iverson can produce great chemistry, then they got a great chance of making it far, but if they can't co-exist, then they'll flop and the Sixers can rebuild fast with a youth movement with 4 draft picks in the next 2 years (including their own).

This really is a sad day for me. I just wish my idol all the luck in the world, and hopefully he'll get his wish, an NBA ring.
