Am I the only one who genuinely enjoyed this season?

I would have been fine with either of the teams winning it all. Offense of both teams are glorious to watch. And yeah, I'm a filthy casual.

The Warriors offense was great. They played to their strengths and executed very well. Cavs on the other hand... If you call isolating James and Irving time and time again great offense, then, well, that's like just your opinion, man. I like neither of both teams, but the offensive systems don't even compare imho. Nice shooting night by JR, though. If they'd played it smart on a couple of possessions, the Cavs could have actually stolen this one. I mean, the whole season is on the line - if I were Tyronn Lue, I'd have LeBron spinning his way to the rim all day long. Screw kicking it out to ice-cold Kevin.

It is the worst season for me. Predictable since day 1 if you didn't care for injuries scenarios (which did not happen anyways). Even the Champions League soccer competition was less predictable this year, and they had Real Madrid's big bucks in the finals.
Tue Jun 13, 2017 9:15 pm
I think predictability for this season is NOT ok because it feels like it has been forever these two teams meeting in the Finals and GSW won 73 wins games last year.
Usually, there's excitement looming when there's a super team formed. It dies off quickly after cat is out the bag, as that was the case for KG's Celtics, LBJ's Heat, and Shaq's Lakers/Heat.
I didn't really care for NBA this season. Not sure I will ever again.

What aspect in particular are you looking forward to? I can see the domination of these two teams carrying-on for atleast two years. And as many people here have expressed, predictability = not good.
Edit: Sauru may have been sarcastic.

I just wish the current CBA has an opt out option like the recent one did, so if the Warriors continue with this trend of stacking up franchise players, the league owners will need to have a lockout again and complain about parity like they did with the Heat in 2011.

Those ads though...

Yeah, that is a shame. But that was going to happen regardless of who got the uniform contract. At least there's no sleeves to plaster more ads all over.

For now...

Congrats to the Warriors. I was rooting for the Cavs in 7 but in the end of the day the Warriors are just the better team overall. It would have been awesome if we could have seen this series go to seven games but the five games we got were still entertaining.
Regarding the jerseys, as soon as they moved the NBA logo to back of the jersey it was inevitable for them to start putting ads on the jerseys. For the Nets jerseys, if they just made the Infor logo black or white and made the logo circular it would look fine. Hopefully some of the other teams ads won't look as terrible.
Also does anyone know if the ads are only on the jerseys for local games, or will they be on the jerseys for national tv games as well?
Wed Jun 14, 2017 1:13 am
Good question. Fan apparel will apparently forego the advertising patches, but I'm guessing they'll be a constant on the actual jerseys. If companies are buying that ad space, I imagine they'll want them present in all games. Remains to be seen what they'll do in the video games as well.

There will be no problem in getting those ads on a jersey. A while ago, while I was reading some financial facts about FIFA, I came across the statement that for some legal reasons, placing some brands on the jersey costs almost nothing. ( "almost nothing" seen from the perspective of a video game franchise that earns a fortune/year like EA Sports and 2K Sports do).
It gets tricky and expensive once you want to use those brands for the sideline adboards, arena posters, etc. for some reason.
FIFA for example has been rocking jersey ads since forever. Even though they have 100+ logos in their game, their sideline adboards still display generic messages related to EA Sports, the game itself and anything that saves them the money.

I'm not annoyed by the ads but that gold strip at the back of the collar for teams that won a championship. Only the defending champion should have that gold strip.

Fuck the Cavs.
Fuck the Warriors.
Fuck Kevin Durant.
And don't forget: Fuck Dwight Howard.
And don't forget fuck David Stern.
So glad the sleeves are gone. I'll take ads over sleeves any day.
Regarding ads on jerseys in games, I think it's similar to how it costs almost nothing for them to put actual gun names and likenesses in shooting games because it's basically free advertising for the companies.

Fans complaining about "super-teams" need to study their NBA history - the 60s Celtics, the best Wilt teams, Magic's Lakers, Bird's Celtics, Jordan's Bulls - those teams were stacked like the Warriors. Shit, the 80s was great BECAUSE of the Lakers & Celtics playing in so many Finals. I love dynasties - it gives other teams something to shoot for. If you want to beat them, then these owners need to step up their game and run their franchises better (are you listening James Dolan & Phil Jackson)?
But I do agree Durant took the easy way out. He left a contender that should have beaten GS last year to join an already stacked team. That was disappointing. I wanted to see another Warrior-Thunder conference finals.
What do the Cavs need to beat the Warriors next season? At least 2 more TWO-WAY wing players. The cats they have now are useless on defense.
I don't have the link, but Samuel L. Jackson was roasting Deron Williams on Twitter.

along with more 2 way players, they should trade love and some other scraps for demarcus cousins. ultimate risk reward move.
imagine cousins on his best behavior terrorizing zaza and whatever garbage big man GSW has and protecting the basket on defense
Wed Jun 14, 2017 9:19 am
Yeah I think LeBron has it in him to keep a headcase like Cousins in check, just look at J.R. Smith.
Never in my wildest basketball dreams did I imagine JR playing defense.

yup. was being sarcastic. i imagine the next few years is going to be really boring for me. the warriors may even end up getting better by collecting more ring chasers, we will see
Wed Jun 14, 2017 12:08 pm
Oh after the success of Zaza & David West this year, you know there will be more ring chasers next year.
Wed Jun 14, 2017 12:29 pm
they should just auction off the 12th man spot. who wants a ring? the spot goes to the highest bidder

yessir. celtics need to step up and cavs need to retool.
feel the same about durant but it is what it is. i give him credit for playing like a MVP. he was brutally awesome.
also want to give credit to Iggy (and Kerr). finally played some big time minutes and produced.
Wed Jun 14, 2017 1:37 pm
the celtics already did their part by not trading the number 1 pick. now its a matter of signing big name free agents which is not always easy for cold weather teams. also they really need to avoid giving thomas a max

Since they're over the cap, it'll be like the lowest bidder lol
