Re: Derrick Rose follows in the footsteps by being accused of gang raping an ex

It's hard to dismiss because the details are specific? Because stories and allegations that are fabricated can never have specific details? I mean, I agree that it can't be dismissed out of hand, but that's because serious allegations should be investigated, and none of us were there, so we don't know what happened. The fact that there are specific details doesn't suggest that the allegations are any more, nor any less truthful.

All I'm saying is, when there is a chance someone might be making up a story, it's more believable if the story had really specific and vivid details.

Maybe, maybe not. Sociopaths, for example, can lie quite easily and in vivid detail.

In any event though, as I said before, I'm not going to call BS on the allegations when I have as much idea of the truth as everyone else apart from the individuals supposedly involved.

So no updates then? Blackhawks camp is about to start. Patrick Kane and the allegations against him is the headline for now

Presumably it's being dealt with quietly, which is rare for the social media age.

Or there is just zero evidence to proof Rose guilty.

That's the other thing. It's a civil suit, not criminal charges. He doesn't have to turn himself in, as Kobe did, so that probably helps in keeping the proceedings fairly quiet.

Wow. So the only thing he's denying is that it was non-consensual. He's admitting to all of the details of the group sex. So at best Derrick Rose is a freak who shares his girlfriend with ten other dudes, and at worst is a psychopath rapist.

While it may not be my thing, if everyone consents, then that's a decision they've made as adults. If it's not illegal and no one is getting hurt, I'm not going to pass judgement as it's none of my business.

If it was non-consensual though...well, completely different story, obviously.

Come on man, that's fucking weird. Who lets twelve of their friends run a train on his girl? It's crazy that he actually admitted to taking part in this, consensual or not. Between this and his asshole comments from media day (and are we just going to forget that he cheated on his SATs?), his image is forever shot.

there are a lot of weird fetishes in the world and for some reason watching other people nail your girl is one of them. then again maybe he just didnt really have feelings for her so it was just sex?

Exactly. It's not my bag, I'd never be comfortable with an arrangement like that, but polyamory is a thing, swinging is a thing, open relationships are a thing, S&M is a thing, and so on and so forth. If no one's getting hurt (against their will, as the case may be) and everyone consents...well, it's their business. Sure, it's a little different, but I'm not going to get on my high horse and waggle a scolding finger over it. It's private business that's come to light due to the allegations.

As for why he admitted it...well, honesty is often the best policy. Remember when the allegations were first made about Kobe and he claimed that he'd never even met the accuser, only to backpedal and admit that yes, he did have sex with her, but still maintained it was consensual? Whatever eyebrows Rose may raise by admitting that it actually happened (while denying it was non-consensual), denying that it ever happened only for it to be revealed that yes, it actually did, is going to work out a lot worse for him. Assuming it was consensual, most people will eventually forget about it, or stop making a big deal about it in time (Marv Albert, anyone?), but if he lies about it and is caught out, it's going to be far more damaging.

I do agree, his comments on media day were cringeworthy. It's not the first time he's said something like that, and it makes him harder to cheer for. It's also a shame about what happened with his SATs, though I'm sure it happens a lot more often than we know about. I'm not saying that makes it right, but I think that's a situation where he was unlucky enough to get caught. It seems highly unlikely that he'd be the only one to have received some sort of help to get into college, and I think it highlights a problem with the rules they enacted about a decade ago, implementing the age limit and whatnot. Again, doesn't make it right, but I doubt he's the only one.

Sickened of perversion taken as norm these days. These guys are idolized by children all over the world.

Agreed. Does anyone here have a family? Would you really tell your kid it's just unfortunate he was caught and cheating happens a lot thus suggesting it's ok?

Of course not, but the likelihood that others are doing it makes me reluctant to hold him up as the personification of evil or anything like that. I suspect there's a lot of shady stuff that goes on with high school and college ball, and what happened with Rose is a sign that something needs to be done about it. Any action that is taken against Rose or Memphis is absolutely justified, as is any criticism of him, but I also think we have to take a look at why stuff like that happens, and whether things like the age limit are a good idea.

If we're talking about his bedroom activities, and the fact that some people enjoy open relationships or polyamory...like I said, it's not for me or everyone, but to each their own. It was all happening behind closed doors, until public accusations were made. Of course, if a crime was committed, then he should be duly punished. No question about that. If it was all consensual like he maintains, then so be it, I guess.

In any event, I agree that it's getting harder to cheer for him. Absolutely.

He shared with 12 friends?
Derrick Rose's assist rating should be 99 in 2K/Live.
Also a +5 increase in offensive awareness rating for watching his friends.

Make it happen Leftos.

I don't know about that. With his comments about his contract on media day, I'm not sure he's actually aware of how offensive he's being.

He's the face of the city and the Chicago Bulls franchise. He has to be held to a higher standard. For the most part the local media has given him free passes on his idiot behavior but now he is not himself any favors

Sure this orgy mess will go away but only because some other professional athlete is going to do something stupid

He's definitely not. He needs better PR...preferably, not the same person who's currently giving Hulk Hogan advice.
