Sorry it took me so long to respond to this but I've been very busy the past few weeks. As I'm sure you know by now, Bryon Russell has been picked up by the Lakers, is getting decent minutes, and doing a very nice job. He had a good game against the Mavs and he played great down the stretch against the Spurs and stopped Rose in the overtimes and also got a couple of key rebounds. He's a regular in the rotation of a chamionship calibre team. And you were saying he should retire? I think I'd keep my mouth shut on this topic if I were you because, frankly, you were wrong and I was right. Have a great day!

Wrong about what exactly? Remember, as the offseason progressed, I granted that he might actually make the team. See?

Anyway, after "selectively" participating in this thread "according to my conveniece," I'm almost entirely sold on two things, with my only skepticism emanating from the latter: 1) you significantly overrate Russell, presumably because of his Jazz ties, and 2) he might even crack the opening night roster. (Not because of any Russell Rejuventation, though, but because he might actually be better than that Pargo guy.)

Hmmmm, who should keep their mouth shut now?

Are you kidding me? Russell's averaging 3.0 ppg on .300 FG% and .182 3-PT%, and you call that a "nice job?" I guess I shouldn't be surprised. At least the media's got the right idea about Russell. Last week on "Around the Horn," J.A. Adande of The L.A. Times criticized (along with fellow retread veteran, Horace Grant) Russell's lack of production, and just today, ESPN.com NBA writer Marc Stein had this to say of the Lakers:

No question the Lakers have issues like everyone else. They are going to have to get production from Ho Grant and Bryon Russell and will need Rick Fox before it's over, too.

I don't think Stein would call Russell out if he had played well so far. And you had the temerity to suggest that I shut my mouth? Maybe you should direct your condescending, misinformed psychobabble to Adande, Stein, and the rest of the media elite while you're at it. I'm sure they could use a few laughs. Anyway, I'm excited for the Lakers to shore up their depth at forward; Fox and Brian Cook are only a couple months from re-joining the regular rotation (and from having the added benefit of a former Jazz player pulling the splinters out of their asses). In the meantime, you can start brainstorming your next excuse-laden thread explaining Russell's "suddenly inexplicable" drop-off in playing time. I can't wait.
