By your logic Arron Afflalo would be a better acquisition than Kobe Bryant

For many teams, yes, considering Kobe's contract

Well played sir

I guess the point I was trying to make was age isn't the be all and end all. Out of Shaq and T-Mac, I know who I'd pick.

Yeah... Bryant will retire in 8-9 seasons... but Afflalo? He will be in his prime...

I'll take a 38 year old Kobe Bryant over a Prime Afflalo every single time.

I'd probably take a 48 year old Kobe over that guy.

Who is that guy?

If so, I'd probably take a 133 year old Kobe for Afflalo... If he is still strong...

Aaron Afflalo is a player on the Denver Nuggets. You need to get to know the less famous players in the NBA.

I don't think anybody would take Allen Iverson. Or Marbury.

That's right, I'm comparing the two.

...which i'm not really sure is a due comparison. iverson isn't capable of being THE player anymore, but he's still a great offensive option and has adapted to being the fourth or fifth offensive option--or lower--over the last season or two. for a team that needs to add a bit of bench scoring, iverson isn't a bad pickup.

Assuming of course, he's willing to put aside the whole "I'm a starter" mentality and accept that role, or the team he ends up with provides him with a decent enough shot to be a starter.

I think his behavior seems to show throughout the last year or so that he's realized how far he has fallen as a player since Denver, and that he's now ready to come off the bench. He left the team in February to deal with personal issues, including the illness of his daughter and an impending divorce. Barring those issues, Iverson was a useful contributor for the 76ers while Williams was injured last winter.

Yeah, it is perhaps beginning to dawn on him but I think for AI, coming off the bench and really playing a reduced role is another step that he hasn't taken yet. He did start all but one game he played for the SIxers last year and played around 32 minutes per game. That's still a fairly prominent role with a decent amount of court time, even if he's not the first option anymore.

hey... remember a few years ago when T-Mac was considered like a top 5 player in the game? WTF happened? i know about the back spasms and the micro fracture surgery he had... did he just never recover from it? he's being mentioned next to guys who are way past their prime when he should be coming into his prime. damn. how the mighty have fallen. Shaq got old, AI got mental... what's T-Mac's excuse for being in this discussion? cover athlete of NBA LIVE 07 and here it is 2010. damn.

remember back in the day when if you had to choose between him and Vince Carter... you WOULDNT pick Carter?

If it's about dunking, I would always pick Carter with a bad knee over a healthy T-Mac.

McGrady: Can't shoot anymore. Still a decent playmaker but turns the ball over too much.
Iverson: Could never shoot but is worse this season than ever before. Still gets to the line at a decent rate. Worse playmaker than McGrady but doesn't turn it over as much.
Shaq: Good rebounder, still a good passer. Not a horrible shot blocker and still shooting at a decent percentage.
Jermaine: Ok rebounder, good shot blocker (but not as good as previous years) very efficient offensively.

I'd go

1: Shaq
2: Jermaine
3: Iverson
4: McGrady

No you dont!!! :x

It's a shame how T-Mac's game has deteriorate over the years. There's a lot of "could have been" and "if he wasn't injury prone" written all over McGrady. Imagine what kind of player he would/could have been if he wasn't injured this often and if he had Kobe's heart and mental toughness.

Now that microfracture surgery has apparently been perfected, a bad back is the last regular ailment that can kill a career. (And bad feet for anyone over 7-2.)

There's a reason McGrady has to sit in the same chair Phil Jackson does.
