Shannon's putback vs the Mavs is sick imo. I just love putbacks. Guys are getting very high without the ball in their hands. Brown has some supernatural hops. It's almost looking weird how he gets up and up and up before reaching the final height of his jump.

Hopefully Brown's in the dunk contest this year. If he can combine some creative tricks with his athleticism - something better than a cape and phone booth - he should be able to come up with a sight to behold.

That just might be a possibility with him getting more publicity last postseason and this season.

Corey Brewer's dunk looks good, but I think it was a charge, so I give it shouldn't be the best dunk so far. No brainer Wade's dunk tops all anyways. +1 free throw and over 7 footer and varejao knew it was coming, just couldn't stop Wade from doing it on him. Tell me I'm not biased.

+1 and also hoping Dwight doesn't enter again...

LeBron James now has second thoughts about participating in this year's dunk contest, saying he's "50-50" about taking part.

If LeBron backs out any part of me that still likes and enjoys him as a player will be gone because is purposely drew attention away from the Dunk Contest last year to make that announcement

but there is no D.....

I mean, it's a nice dunk for sure, but the lack of D doesnt make it better than the above contact dunks

I know, but if look at top 10's, there's usually a Lebron fast break dunk there, usually much less spectacular. :P

This probably won't make the cut also as this is also a fast break dunk.

It comes close, but I tend to think the referees are way too generous in deciding players have established defensive position so I think it was the right call.

Agreed. I like LeBron, I enjoy watching him play but I don't care for the way he carries himself at times and the way he ums and ahs about entering the dunk contest is annoying, especially the way he drew attention to himself last year as you said.

I remember watching that one live. It was nice but not quite on par with some of the others that have been posted so far.

Kevin Durant for one has taken a pass.

Durant passes on Slam Dunk Contest

Kevin Durant doesn’t think he’s enough of a high flyer to compete in the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest, so he turned down the chance.

Durant wrote Friday on his blog that he doesn’t consider himself a contest dunker and that he doesn’t “even do any good dunks in games.” The Oklahoma City Thunder forward wrote that he’d rather let the Rudy Gays and Dwight Howards show off in the contest than take up one of the spots.

“I don’t jump high enough for those guys,” Durant said Friday night before the Thunder hosted the Detroit Pistons. “Shannon Brown, LeBron (James), Rudy Gay, Dwight Howard, Nate Robinson, they’re like all the way at the top of the mountain. I’m all the way at the bottom, trying to climb my way up.”

I can agree with him on that. It's just not his venue.

It might be depressing, but I'd like to see Ray Allen or Paul Pierce relive their dunk contest days in a contest at the ASW.

Might as well add KG, Tony Allen, Rondo, Perkins, and even Brian Scalabrine while you're at it Jao.

HORSE contest going to suck again.
I’m just going to shoot regular shots this time. I almost lost trying to shoot trick shots,” Durant said. “A couple of shots went my way that were prayers. We’ll see. Hopefully I get the title again.”

Yeah, I doubt it's going to surpass the Shooting Stars contest anytime soon.

I'd be down to see a three way battle between Allan Houston, Michael FInley and Larry Hughes. Some fantastic dunks were thrown down by those three during their respective times in the dunk contest.

On the subject of dunk contestants, I'm pretty sure Derozan has confirmed himself as a contestant or something.

And watching that Pierce dunk on Bosh just gets on my nerves. The knee was bad enough, but that shouldn't even have happened. The defense was absolutely horrific (WTF is Nesterovic doing at the top of the 3 point line trying to guard Pierce; I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as he's one of the few players on the roster that play defense, someone else messed up a rotation and Nesterovic had to be switched onto Pierce in the worst position possible) and it took a last minute contest by Bosh to do anything about it. Also, the only people doing ANYTHING about it are the coaches. Geez.
