That was one downer about ESPN Australia's coverage, they had their own announcers doing the show rather than the TNT or NBA TV crew.

Definitely. I join Thug in mocking all of yous.

Kidd made that previous record with some underhanded shots so he's better than LeBron.

I'm impressed with LeBron though, attempting those half-court shots like he was just simply shooting jumpshots (shooting form-wise) instead of heaving it like the others did.

the game was boring as shit apart from the last 6-8 minutes. At least Howard played D all game, and D Wade went at Dirk.

All the big guys except for Amare & Howard didn't fit in.....they are useless unless it's a serious game as it was towards the end.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:47 pm

I only watched the 4th quarter, but damn, Chris Paul & Brandon Roy are superb....everytime I watch both of them, I like them more & more....especially Brandon Roy....just a beautiful basketball player to watch....these two guys are what basketball....

He made some sweet lay ups on him too as well as the block....he definitly has that guy's number.

Kobe wanted to sit out the All-Star Game due to injury but league policy requires active players to play, otherwise they get suspended for one game....so Byron Scott only played him for like 2 minutes....Kobe didn't want to play, so he didn't have to....why should he risk further injurying it on an All-Star Game....I wish they had of just let him opt out & called in Baron Davis, who did deserve to be there....

Tue Feb 19, 2008 2:06 am

^^^we deff. could have used Davis play out there.....the stuff he pulls off in reg. season games is stuff we don't even see in the ASG. Not a single killer cross-over in this game.

Tue Feb 19, 2008 3:13 am

The first quarter and the final few minutes was ok. Other than that, it was a pretty dissapointing game I think. Got more enjoyment out of the Rookies vs Sophmores..

Didn't he say that he really did want to play, but all the coaches and whatnot was against it, and that he had an obligation to his real team?

Leander wrote:Yao Ming played just 13 minutes. Why?
Because its the all-star game and he cant hog all the minutes
LeBron played more than 30.

Tue Feb 19, 2008 3:29 am

god damn, i love dirk and all, but wade is going to own him for the rest of his life

Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:58 am

Yao would have gotten more than 30 minutes if he stopped attempting those damn threes.

I think Shaq only attempted one three-pointer for every ASG he played as oppossed to what Yao did.

whilst Wade is owning Dirk from his living room in May, Dirk will be trying to lead Mavs to the title....I know which situation I'd rather be in....

Wade already went through all of that and did it once, no need for him to do it again  . I like Dirk and all, but that block Wade had on him at the three point line was deffinately "owned".

i tried to watch some of the game with that tnt thing on nba.com and i thought that that was hopeless

That's right, Dirk will be trying. When the first round is over, he'll join Wade relaxing in his own living room.

A question for those who found the game boring, what exactly made it that way? Obviously we all have our own opinions but the game itself was fairly close through a good portion of the game, there were some nifty passes, lobs and dunks and even a bit of defense played here and there which is pretty much the standard for an All-Star game.

Tue Feb 19, 2008 12:47 pm

I think the majority of people are still stuck with the 80´s-early 90-s all star.

Where the level was high and they had some good competition , magic-bird type, and that´s a time that is not coming back.

The all-star game brings nothing new, and we always feel that some other players should be there.

Bside that, I think the dunk competition was real fun this year.

the action in the early going was forced and i didn't really see anything that impressed me, mainly because no one defended anything. However, i was impressed with that Chris Paul layup over Howard, and Amare's dunk over Howard. Howard played the way i would like everyone to play.

Basically, standard operation for an ASG....although 2006 was nice when 4 Pistons started playing REAL D and then LBJ took over.

The last 6-8 mins were really good, mainly because the game had Paul, Roy, Allen, LBJ, Wade, Howard, Duncan and they did everything w/in the flow of the game w/o forcing anything.

I'd just like to mention same things here:

Beatboxer wrote:This year's all-star was a total let-down.

I'm from a european country, Turkey. I don't like watching FIBA games. Maybe FIBA is a competitive association, but the games are boring and there is no fluidity. Because FIBA rules are too strict. You cannot see many players dunk. Not because of they can't jump high, but because of a basic travelling rule.
On the other hand, i love watching NBA games. Because there are so many athletic players, large stadiums with beautiful atmosphere, and at least some elastic game rules.

I often watch NBA games standing against my sleep at 3 or 4 or 5 a.m. Because i love this game. It's often more important than my sleep.

I haven't missed any all-star events since 2000.
Until 2007, all-star events have been fantastic to watch.
Because there were:
- Shaq doing his off-court stuff
- VC doing amazing dunks and layups
- Baron Davis doing amazing spin moves, dunks and crossovers
.
.
.
.
And so forth.

But this year, there were no Shaq, no VC, no Baron.
There were
- Billups only shooting from behind the arc.
- Rip Hamilton hanging around like a ghost and the same thing for Joe Johnson.
.
.
.
And so forth.

When it comes to the jerseys, nothing to talk. I couldn't even seperate the West and the East.

Shame on you NBA. (N)

Tue Feb 19, 2008 10:11 pm

yes, Baron was hard done by not making game, but not Shaq & Carter....frankly, I enjoyed this All-Star Game more than in prior years....I hate watching chumps like Carter & Shaq....for me dunks are dunks....give me Brandon Roy or Chris Paul any day of the week....they are part of the NBA's future....and if you want dunks, Lebron & Dwight Howard were still bringing it....

Wed Feb 20, 2008 1:25 am

^exactly, dunks are dunks.....it got boring watching Melo do the same uncontested dunk over and over, or even worse, making a layup when he could have thrown it down.

Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:34 am

There are always defensive "lapses" when it comes to the All-Star game though, along with a bit of playgroundesque "Can you top this?". I'm not sure why it's only become an issue in recent years though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this was the greatest All-Star game in NBA history, I'd place others above it for various reasons.

Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:08 am

Chris Paul was my favourite, he seemed to want to play in this game compared to other guys who simply wouldn't bother to run. Easily one of the most boring all star games I remember... no excitement what so ever.

Gotta like Lebron for taking advantage of the lazy play and bangin it all over Dirk :D
