Well I could guess..

Lithuania won against Italy today, despite the fact that Lith didn't play really well.. That was our worst game in EB, indeed. Kaukenas led us all the way, he tallied 22 points on 9-10 shooting from the floor.
Saras got injured a bit again and ended with 13 points and 4 assists.

I'm really looking forward to a match against France. It's always tough for Lithuanians to fight with athletic French guys.

Sun Sep 09, 2007 6:53 pm

Damn, we got crushed by France. :( Seemed like they had us under control for the whole 40 minutes. Later on, Dirk really tried to force some shots, but sometimes, they just don't drop. We'll do better against Slovenia, I'm sure. We have to rely more on Okulaja and his strength on the offensive boards. Give the man more playing time!

@Pera: The Turks have been very unimpressive during the first games. I haven't seen the game yesterday, but I was totally disappointed about how they did against Germany. Btw, Dirk is angry now. Just pray you can keep him to about 40 pts on Monday, ok?

Sun Sep 09, 2007 11:08 pm

You just pray its not Dallas vs Golden State all over again

Mon Sep 10, 2007 6:55 am

France beat Germany 78-66, Dirk had almost half of its teams points with 28

Mon Sep 10, 2007 4:25 pm

Well... the thing is Dirk has to be the leader at the same time as involving his teammates. You don't win with star players on the world stage and germany went down because France was the better team. :(

Slovenia having a good run while the inexperience of Italy is what is making them not winning as much however, Italy will be good for the future. :D

Lithuania is playing good with Saras as the leader. I'm hoping Golden State trades him... for him to leave the NBA would be terrible. :(

And Spain is the team to beat.

Mon Sep 10, 2007 9:38 pm

What do you think about the Portugal NT ?
They will not win the eurobasket but it is a good surprise (wins over Latvia & Israel)

IMO, 2nd round ranking
1 Lithuania
2 France
3 Slovenia
4 Germany
5 Italy
6 Turkey

1 Spain
2 Russia
3 Greece
4 Croatia
5 Portugal
6 Israel

quarter finals
LT/HR : easy win for Lithuania I guess
RUS/SLO : Difficult but Slovenia could do it
SP/GER : Take care Dirk still here but I think Spain is the best
FRA/GR : France has never been lucky against Greece ! Nothing to Add

My favorite for the tittle : SPAIN

Lithuania 88-71 France  :applaud:
We're still unstoppable. Lithuania had an incredible first half. Seriously, one of the best I've ever seen (As I remember). We were really concentrated and finished 1s half with 48-22. Lithuania scored 48 points in 2 quarters against a Top 3 defensive team in Europe.. Still the 3rd quarter was weak, as always. That's our biggest problem, so far.
Anyway, our "birthday-boy" and captain Siskauskas led us today with 19 points and 5 rebounds.
Key match-up : Saras (14 points and 9 assists) vs Parker (11 points and 6 assists). Saras is still injured a bit, though.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turkey lost to Italy after OT and lost their chances to qualify for quarter-finals.

btw F*CK OFF spain. Before the game, next to the entrance to the arena, some spanish cops took one of Lithuanian fan's flags and ripped it, because it was "too big". It a BIG disrespect to our country, so our fans got angry, but did not start the fight. They probably said something and then 12 other cops came up and started beating a group of our fans with their rubber sticks. After that, cops downed 4-6 of our fans on the ground (including 2 women) and started beating them as well. At the end they surrounded our fan-leader and started smashing him, he felt down but they still kept smashing till his face was all bloody.
4 Lithuanians were taken to the hospital (including 2 women).
I admit, that Lithuanians probably made smth wrong, but still, that was way too much. (Smashing screaming women with no mercy.. Gosh..)

So I hope, God I hope, that Lithuania could beat Spain in the final.
Still, If not Lithuania, any other team, I don't care which, just don't let Spain to take that title.

Oh , oh is anyone watching the Slovenia - Germany game ?

Shit we are owning them after the first quarter, 30-9 for us .

Debiler you think your team can get to 40 points all together ? They are playing so unorganized.

Yeah, spanish motherfuckers

By the way, nice victory against France - Parker was like a newbie against Jasikevicius

That's pure torture. I don't think I can watch it any longer... What's wrong with them? I've never seen such an uninspired effort by a german team.

Tue Sep 11, 2007 6:59 am

There is only one sentence that can describe it : We're just better  .

Tue Sep 11, 2007 7:02 am

I'll be damned... We're not gonna get 40 points...wait...now :D

Tue Sep 11, 2007 7:10 am

77-47 and Slovenia didn't even play great. They were good, but we just plain sucked on both ends. How many 3s did they miss in the 2nd half? Did anyone count? I'm pissed.

Tue Sep 11, 2007 7:12 am

You got 47 we got 77 . Good game for us, but Germany will need to work a lot on their game. They seemed lost most of the time even though they had Nowitzki. I'm just happy that Okulaja didn't do good and Pascal Roller could've played better. Since he did bury us last time at eurobasket.

Tue Sep 11, 2007 7:29 am

Yep. Our defense was nonexistant. When you don't have good offensive players, you gotta get into the game with your defense. But when you give up that many open shots, you're gonna get smoked.
Congrats to Slovenia, you have good chances to beat Lithuania on Wednesday. (Y)

imo you're wrong  But we'll see wich country will remain unbeaten :)

It's going to be a tough game, for sure. Slovenia plays great basketball so far, much better than I expected (Lithuania as well..) However, I still believe in my country (Y)

Thu Sep 13, 2007 2:24 am

I'm so happy right now! :D Despite an dismal offensive performance, we finally showed some heart and defended almost perfectly against Italy. And kudos to Johannes Herber, who won the game for Germany, and Jan Jagla, who dominated the boards. We'll still lose to Spain tomorrow, but we'll get to see one more game at least. (Y) (Y) (Y)

You lithuanins are so confidence! I will lought when your team will loose to Croatia! You are too confidence  We(latvians) think too that we will easy win portugal but the shot % was  And when Tomas shooted 3pt against Spain, Latvia 3rd championship a road finished in 4 place in group but we have young player, perspective players(Biedrins, Skele, Blums, Janicenoks, Berzins) And we will back in 2009 quater finals

Maybe you will laugh, but I'm laughing right now and you know why :D
Just don't compare Latvians and Lithuanians. We're still way better at basketball, although you won that warm-up game. Even Sweden won a warm-up game against us.

btw - Blums is not perspective, for sure. He's a decent shooter, nothing else.
Biedrins is a future European star for sure, but not Blums..

Thu Sep 13, 2007 5:22 am

maybe you are right! Blums wont be star but he can be 20 min player in Euroleague, Biedrins will be in Ilgauskas leval, maybe better(now he shoots free throws good)
But Šķēle un erzins are very, very perspective and Veselovs is progressing along in summer.

P.S. Soon will start BBL! Has got strong roster and i think they can win Rytas and aybe Zalgiris too. In offseason ASK retain 70% of last season roster and Butautas :D + signed Latvians Jahovičs ad Kalve + americans Broyles and Sanders(played in Strasbourg last year) It will be a great season. ASK will be LV champs but Ventspils will lose Barons thats for sure ;)
Can you post here Zalgiris roster? In our news portal it isn`n publiced.

JuryD wrote:P.S. Soon will start BBL! Has got strong roster and i think they can win Rytas and aybe Zalgiris too....

In your fu**ing dreams  Well, maybe Zalgiris, but not Rytas :P

And we crushed Slovenia 80:61 :applaud: :chug: (Y) (Y) (Y)
Saras has suffered an injury again :( He didn't play in a second half. But we still crushed Slovenia  Okay, next target - Croatia

Thu Sep 13, 2007 7:13 am

Lithuania 80-61 Slovenia :!: :applaud:  (Siskauskas 21; Lakovic 15)
We're still unstoppable (Y) 6 of 6.
It was a really hard game for Lithuanians cause we had to play without our only PG and our leader Sarunas Jasikevicius. Looks like his injury might be more serious than we though. If we lose Saras, I doubt we could beat Spain or Greece (it would be hard against Croatia as well) . Anyway Ramunas Siskauskas showed, why is he the captain of our NTeam. Although he's a SF, Siskauskas took Saras's role and played as PG most of the game. He made 21 point and 3 assists.
So I'm still waiting for the news about Saras's health cause he's so important for our team.

The pairs of quarter-finals :

Spain vs Germany;
Russia vs France;
Greece vs Slovenia; I hope, I'm wrong about that one.Just because I don't like the way Greece plays.
Lithuania vs Croatia.

My guesses are in bold, though..

But your "Great Team ASK" didn't reach BBL final 4  Rytas have became a BBL champions  And Rytas became stronger team this summer, cause they will play in Euroleague. There are only 2 good things in ASK:

1. Coach Butautas (Y)
2. Babrauskas. He's one of leader in ASK, but he has no chance to be in Lithuania national team.
