VC trade was about getting something or nothing, much like the Joe Johnson trade between Phoenix & Atlanta. VC had already decided he was not playing for Toronto, and it was known all over the league, so you couldn't get a wet paper bag for him. Toronto was lucky to get 2 1st round draft picks out of it, because VC has already "quit" for all intents & purposes.

It's similar to the Scottie Pippen trade from the Bulls to Houston. On paper, you trade a Hall of Fame player fresh from 6 championships for 5 unknown players who were so bad not a single one even made the team. The reality is that Scottie wasn't going to play for Krause, and this was just needed for the red tape.

At the time, both players' careers were going downhill, so no, it wasn't a lopsided trade.

That was the Houston/Portland deal, Pip for six players (a couple of whom got waived and signed with the Blazers again, including Stacey Augmon). The Bulls traded him to the Rockets for Roy Rogers and a second round draft pick the previous offseason, soon after the lockout was lifted.

I felt sorry for the Bulls when they gave a go-to 20 point, 10 rebound player for a guy who hasn't even developed a faceup jumper from within 5 feet of the basket.

The Carter and Baron Davis trades aren't really the worst trades ever, but in terms of actual talent of course it was a robbery. You have to remember that both players were considered risky to trade for since they both simply stopped giving a rat's ass about their teams so their trade values were at an all-time low.

I remember watching Vince Carter play during the couple of games when he was still a Raptor before he was traded. It was absolutely horrendous. Pull-up jumpshot after jumpshot. Games where he let guys blow by him on the fly while throwing up half-assed 20 footer fadaways on the other end. I always hated Vince's demeanor on the court as well. He'd always be smiling, prancing around and having way too much fun even if his team was getting blown out. He never got serious and took control as a Raptor, and I think that ultimately got him dealt.

Ben Wallace & Chucky Atkins for Grant Hill......that turned out nice.

Bob Sura, L Hunter, C Atkins for Rasheed Wallace & Mike James

I think so, Baron Davis is way better than speedy claxton, and plus the hornets don't even have claxton anymore, I think he is on the hawks.

i thought they were both traded just prior to the decline. if i recall kemp was still doing great til the trade then the strike and then he came back fat and was junk ever since? same thing for baker really also? i could be wrong i guess but i thought they were both still doing good when the trade happened. atleast both teams ended up with trash afterwards lol

My favorite is the Celtics' 1st and 13th draft picks in 1980 (which turned into Joe Barry Carroll and Rickey Brown) to the Warriors for the number 3 pick (Kevin McHale) and Robert Parish...too funny.
