Durant may indeed be on Melo's level...but all the scouting says Oden is on the Bill Russell/David Robinson level.

Oden.

OJ Mayo is a little overrated. It's all about Derrick Rose now.

OJ is a very good player, but he's not as good as everyone makes him out to be. Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose are slightly better (Rose barely), and yes he has alot of potential but Durant has just as much if not more.

Durant is only 10 months older than OJ at the moment and doing more on a bigger level than OJ. Derrick Rose is pretty good, but I still think he is too wild on the court to be picked ahead of a proven NCAA superstar. He also has alot of potential but he is even more raw than Durant. Michael Beasley on the other hand looks great, but I don't think he quite has the potential of Durant or Rose. He is very good right now but he isn't exactly great at anything (although he is a very good scorer). He sort of like a Lamar Odom type at the moment.

All these guys would need to have a better season than Kevin is having now to be to be the top pick (unless the team needs one of these players specifically). I doubt that will happen, and even if they get close to Durant's numbers only one of them has the potential that he has, and that's probably Derrick Rose.

Melo had an NBA ready body, Durant does not.

Yeah but so did JR Rider...he averaged 29 & 9 at UNLV.

You can never tell between college & pro.

I think the most atrocious part of this draft is that the Phoenix Suns are on track to draft Joakim Noah or one of the other top 5 guys like Durant...because of the sign & trade of Joe Johnson.

I'm not sure who signed their soul to Satan over in Phoenix, but he's getting his money's worth. Everything is just falling in place for them.

I Think Oden is the one who will improve the most in the following years.
Noah will be a very good player (like Elton Brand) but not a superstar

Oden : Future superstar
Durant : Future franchise player (I'd like to see him with a Cs Jersey)
Noah : Future very good player (will help French NT a lot)

Noah is overrated, and that's coming from somebody who's been a huge fan of him since he was a Freshman.

He'll most likely never develop a decent jump shot with how he shoots the ball. He's had a difficult time bulking up and most likely will not be able to get much bigger, and will be pushed around by other people in the league. His blocking and offensive skills are mostly from being able to out-height the college competition, something he won't be able to do in the NBA.

Now if he's on Pheonix, he could be huge. Since they play such an up-tempo game, his lack of muscle doesn't mean as much. And since he has amazing passing and ballhandling skills for a bigman, he'd work extremely well in their system. I really hope he goes there.

Also, Al Horford has a lot more skill than Noah. He has developed a very good jumpshot this year, he has a lot more muscle, better blocking and rebounding skills, just as good ballhandling and passing skills, and he's also a smarter player. The difference is Horford is a very mellow guy and doesn't get much attention whereas it's hard not to notice Noah. But Horford will be a better player in the NBA.

And there is also the chance that Noah/Horford do come back to Florida, which is a LOT more plausible then Durrant/Oden going back. I think it mainly depends on Brewer. Unlike Noah/Horford, Brewer needs the money very badly. Really that's the reason both of them came back, because Brewer came back even with that situation he is in. But even if Brewer does go, it's still possible Noah and Horford stays (I'm sure by now everybody knows that situation of their two fathers), and as a UF fan I hope they do, haha.

If Durant wasn't thin as a rail I'd be more convinced of his NBA-readiness. I'll take Oden at #1, and not just because I played in the national 8th-grade-level AAU tournament in Memphis with him (different bracket, but watched one of his games). There were 3 or 4 guys on his team over 6'8" - thank God our pitiful team from Maine went 0-4 and never had to play anyone like that. My dad actually recognized the coach, Mike Conley Sr., as a former Olympic track star. Good times.

Assuming Oden does not stay another year in college, he will go #1.

Teams always tend to go for the big men first, then worry about the rest later. Oden is the kind of big man that comes around once every 10 years, he's not going to be passed up. It's arguable that Durant might even be more talented, but Oden will be taken ahead of him anyway, simply because superstar centers are so rare.

The fact that Oden and Durant are producing at their rate as freshmen is just scary.

Well Durant is producing at an amazing pace...Oden is still mostly potential.

He's averaging 15.2 ppg 9.5 rpg.
As comparison, Lamarcus Alridge averaged 15.0 ppg 9.2 rpg.

Oden is playing with his shooting hand injured. He is even shooting free throws left-handed, and making 60% of them!

I predict that Oden will carry his 15/10 averages with him to the NBA, and will be among the leagus leaders in blocks.

Well idk becuase Oden is really leaning towards another year of college, which i think would be best for him. So I guess that leaves the Celts with Joakim Noah lol.

Got love for Durant since his HS days but you can't pass out on a big man and someone like Greg Oden.

they would probably draft him anyway. the celts have a thing for drafting players who turn into flops. or they trade away the good ones before anyone knows they are good

I watched the game between the 2 texas team yesterday and they showed a lil info about Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant.

Here you go:

Carmelo - 22.3 ppg, 10 rpg, 45% FG
K Durant- 24.9 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 48% FG
