Maybe if the Trailblazers got Zach Randolph to sit on Billy Knights head buttnaked untill he agreed to that trade he would do it.

Naw probably not.

Yes, I forgot to include the teabagging. That's under the table, though.

AI has become such a 76ers icon in my opinion that it would be just plain weird seeing him in another team. Sort of like Jordan for the Bulls, Bird for Celtics, Garnett for Timberwolves, Duncan for Spurs etc.

But I agree, a move would be smart considering that their management, even as they have obtained some good talent in the form of Iguodala and Korver, have made some serious mistakes in any other area. Iverson definetly deserves another title chance considering that he's one of the most explosive small guards in the history of the league.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 6:40 am

It wasn't weird seeing MJ in a Wizards uni.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 6:58 am

I'm hoping and praying that he comes to Minnesota.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 7:02 am

If that happens, I'll instantly bandwagon with Minny and be Riot's butt buddy. I mean best buddy. :shifty:

I dont see him going to Minnesota if it means that T-Wolves keeping James and Davis. Even if they were able to make an attractive offer while keeping those two on the team, it would put 3 ball hogs on the team, taking even more shot opportunities for KG. I just don't see Kevin McHale being competent enough to make any sort of a decent trade.

Iverson will really only fit in well with a team that lacks a superstar, and in order for the team to be competitive, they need to have a great cast of role players already, with perhaps a strong secondary scorer (like a lamar/kobe scoring duo). Portland could be a possibility, but I dont see him winning there, which is probably the entire reason he wants traded to begin with. Can he coexist with Carmelo? He would have to be the secondary scorer on that team, and we really dont know how AI would accept that kind of a role.

I actually agree with Indy, I think Sacramento would probably be the ideal place for him. They might have to part with a real rising talent like Kevin Martin to make room for him, but if they want to really win, I think it would have to be done. The Kings lack a dominant scorer. They have some of the best non all stars in the game though in Bibby, Miller, and Shareef. With the Kings losing 5 straight now, they might be a little more anxious to make a move.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 9:54 am

Unfortunately he can't go to the Bulls because of the no-headband rule.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 11:05 am

^^ LOL

but i think a trade to the bulls is the best oppertunity for him

gordon and deng for iverson.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 12:21 pm

I hope no 76ers fan is expecting to get much in return for Iverson. Things seem to be so bad at 76ers that he either will not be traded and forced to stay, which would be silly, or he will be traded to a team that has cap room to support him or to another team that gives back bunch of mediocre guys. I doubt they will get even close to star-for-star trade.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 12:35 pm

a decent center in Mark Blount

Philly HAS to look at getting a big expiring contract for this to be an attractive trade... thats why I said Portland. Since they are shopping Magloire and everything..and since Philly also wants to get rid of Webber it makes sense that they would look into the possibility.

If Philly trades Iverson they have to start fresh with cap flexibility and picks/youth. There is no point trading Iverson for some 30 year olds with mid range contracts lasting a few more years. You just aint going to win.

They need to take the immediate hit of losing a scoring champ and build from the ground up:
Iguodala
Carney
Portlands first round pick which is in the 5-6 range pick
Their own first pick which is in the same range
And Sam Dalembert

You could look at drafting someone like Al Horford who plays alongside Joakim Noah at Florida.
Alternatively, you could use those two picks together or a combo of player and pick to get the first pick and grab Oden.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 1:43 pm

I bet if the Grizzlies offered Eddie Jones (expiring contract), 07' 1st rounder, and anybody other than Warrick, Lowry, Gay and Gasol then the 76ers may end up giving AI to Memphis.

Grizzlies trade:
Eddie Jones
07 1st rounder
Mike Miller or Lawerence Roberts

76ers trade:
Allen Iverson

They get their cap space and a potential lottery pick. They also get a great player in Mike, or a good up and coming player in Roberts that can play the PF spot for them whenever they decide to get rid of Webber.

Sixers' Chairman: "We'll Trade Him"
8th December, 2006 - 10:00 pm
AP -
There is now no doubt that Allen Iverson's career in Philadelphia is over.

"We'll trade him," Sixers chairman Ed Snider said Friday night.

"I think it's time for him to move on, for us to move on and find out where everything stands," Snider said. "I really didn't see it coming because Allen says all the right things."

"As hard as it is to admit, a change may be the best thing for everyone," Iverson said. "I hate admitting that because I love the guys on the team and the city of Philadelphia. I truly wanted to retire a 76er."

IMO Billy King is the one to blame. I read somewhere he gave a whole bunch of bad contracts to mediocre players during the few seasons after A.I took Philly to the NBA Finals and recently kind of overpaid extensions for Kyle Korver and Sam Dalembert. Good Luck to AI, he was a loyal player to the Sixers and hope he finds a good team and wins a ring with them.

I don't know why a Jazz fan would be "LOLing" at that. You could get rid of any idea you had of the Jazz winning the division, I guess that's pretty funny.

Are you kiding me? You honestly think that team would have good chemistry.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 2:28 pm

i wouldn't say it's king outright, actually larry brown tore up that championship team with his i need full personnel control ego trip, and started shipping out the players that complimented ai best for what he thought were role player improvements. of course his health forced him to leave until he was healthy enough to build and almost tear apart another championship contender.

anyone old enough to have been a sixers fan since the eighties can probably see the same old pattern as always. barkley became vocal because of blatantly crappy roster moves where they basically tried to make him carry the whole team year after year. christian welp was supposed to be their big dominant center at one point and the infamous yinka dare was more likely to crack the 50 greatest list.

around 1986 they even wanted to trade dr.j to denver just to get some value for him before he retired. and they actually admitted it publically as if it made sense, or sixer fans could even name five players worth getting in return. and moses malone for jeff ruland, because moses was two years removed from leading them to a title, and jeff ruland's shot knees were more helpful to barkley. or how about trading the top overall draft pick which turned out to be brad daugherty for roy hinson.

philly management has been shoddy for as long as i remember, and whenever a player starts to speak out against them they become trouble makers or disrupt the team unity. well if management keeps screwing up a decent team who is there to tell them about it if not the players. it's time to give up the sixers to someone who cares about the city, the game, the fans, and the players because they always seem to have some owners and big wigs who think they are bigger than the players.

No matter where he goes, he will always give 100% on the court, you should respect that. I know you're talking about his attitude off the court, but I don't how you can think of that changing.

Axel wrote:Iverson will really only fit in well with a team that lacks a superstar, and in order for the team to be competitive, they need to have a great cast of role players already

That sounds pretty similiar to what he has in Philly.

I completely disagree about the whole "he can't play with another superstar" and the whole lack of chemisry argument. joejam999, how can you say that there will be no chemisty if he is with Carmello? Carmello has established himself as one of the top players in the NBA. You might look at that and think that he cannot coexist with another superstar, but I think these guys are all about maximum effort on the court, that means wins.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 3:23 pm

Seems Garnett is campaigning for Iverson in Minny. Would be interesting to see both guys desperately wanting a ring come together and work towards that goal. Will be interesting to see how this plays out but as of now Garnett "God-damn" wants him in Minnesota.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 4:08 pm

Wherever he goes, he did amazing things in Philly, and was one of the best players to watch in the post-Jordan era.

I hope things end well for him.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 5:18 pm

I REALLY hope that he comes to Seattle.

Seattle is extremely worried that Rashard will opt out of his contract this summer and ask for more money. He is a better player than his contract currently pays him and everybody knows it, and he's also a very valuable trade piece because he is so good.

They could easily make salaries match by possibly adding Damien Wilkins or Earl Watson along with Danny Fortson and Rashard Lewis.

The only problem would be they'd have to shift Ray to the SF spot so that they could start Ridnour, Iverson, and Ray. That'd be a pretty solid team though, because Iverson would do a great job running off of Ridnour's playmaking abilities, and I think that Ray would be able to adapt relatively well to Iverson's playing style.

Though Ray has always been the number one man on the team, I think he can still be very effective when he's not the main scorer.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 5:34 pm

The only way i would take him in Denver is if we put K-mart in the deal. JR Smith is untouchable and so is Diawara and maybe Evans from my point of view. Carmelo is defientley not going anywhere but thats a no brainer. I would trade any of these players K-mart, Boykins, Najera, Joe Smith, Hodge, Demarr Johnson and maybe Nene. If one of the untouchable players i mentioned is traded then Denver will be assholes.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 5:58 pm

I was wrong about the chemistry. What I meant to say is who gets the shots? What happens If AI or Carmelo does not get the shots/points they want?

He is getting $9,350,649 this year how much more do think he should get?

AI will love to play with Melo in my opinion, i think he will become more of an assist machine and take over the game while Melo takes a rest. Iverson onlys has to score because no one else on the sixers is as consistent as he is. With Melo on his team i think he will find his job much easier and he will have greater passion for the game. All that said i think that he will go to Minny seeing as they want him the most.

Sat Dec 09, 2006 6:11 pm

It's looking like Minnesota, apparentely Iverson said he wanted to go there aswell.
