There are ten players on the court.. And only what number of referees.. Two, three, four? Players should only complain if the NBA hired a referee for each player just to see the fouls and make calls.. If there were ten referees in every game for each player, and still they get a no call..? Now that's fuckin fucked up..

How can you say they don't deserve blame for botched calls? It's their fucking job to get calls right and if they mess up the call (especially blatant ones like in the Kobe video) then they deserve all the blame they recieve.

I can't stand Kobe Bryant and the Lakers but honestly, those refs should be fined and suspended for purposefully making wrong calls. Seriously, in that case I felt sorry for Kobe and felt like punching the fucking refs. That Mavs-Rockets video also makes me sick. Now as I don't watch any NBA games exept Sixers games I'm wondering if things like that actually happen more often than I thought. I'm not talking about 2 or 3 bad calls but whole games being fucked up by biased refs.

^^^i haven't noticed it.....although, if we look back at last years Cavs v Wizards series, LeBron travelled twice and no-calls.

In one of the games, 6 or 7.....Arenas was hammered by Varejao (who also goal tended), no call, and at the other end immediately following they call something soft.

Finally got the video to work (was too lazy before to pause protection). I surely remember how frustrated I was watching that game. Some very suspect calls and its funny that a veteran like Kobe Bryant couldnt buy one and even the scrubs were getting more calls. I'd rather forget about that game and all the talk about how wonderful a comeback that was because it wasnt. They were only kept in the game because of quite a few bad calls and I hope at the time that the officials involved received some form of punishment for their inconsistency.

oh yeah that's how it went. I forgot.. it's been a while. I remember it was some bull shit like that. If I remember correctly, the defender (I think it was Harpring or Miles) put their hand up to contest Kobe's shot and his hand went in between Kobe's but didn't touch him. Kobe probably yelled his signature "hey!" or something like that to pressure the ref into making a call.

I think a simple way to get rid of this foul discrepancy is to abolish the handchecking foul. The NBA has far too many ticky tack foul rules in place for the refs to keep up with them all.

If you're a referee standing right beside a player being mugged, the only way you miss it is if you're blind.

I've been a referee for basketball as well and I agree... it's really not hard at all. MAYBE at times it is when it gets crowded in the lane, but it doesn't happen too often. I've had my fair share of complaints, and hell one game (which I was practically reffing myself) got pretty out of hand. The two teams almost got into a fight.
