Bit of a joke, i dont think the Cavs would just let him walk away like that. They would like triple his money or something, Lebron is Cleveland! i dont think he will ever leave, same goes for Meloman and Wade.

Well, I can see this happening. What I'm thinking is, will people hate on him if he moved to the Big Apple?

I would lose a lot of respect for him if he leaves the Cavs but if it is in order to win, then it's all bussiness, you can't blame him too much. If it's all for money though, that's greed and I'd dislike him more.

what did he do?!?

There was a exhibition game held there against the Raptors I think on Wednesday or something. LeBron was there for the shoot around but sat on the bench the whole night. I read that they had promos for weeks about James going there to play a game there. The tickets weren't selling for cheap either. All that hype went to waste as he didn't play a single minute. During the game, fans were yelling "We want LeBron!" At one point, he stood up and started heading towards the scorers table, as if he was to join the game, giving hope to the fans, but he was instead just teasing the crowd and headed back towards the bench, snickering. Read that he also didn't bother even to take a little bit of time to autograph stuff. Must have really sucked for those fans, as the Cavs played also without Hughes and Marshall in that game, while Bosh (heel injury) and Peterson (muscle stiffness) sat this one out. The two best players for each team didn't even play in this game.

*Note: the stuff is based on what I read. If anyone (ie. cyanide) can clear up and correct anything that I wrote was incorrect, please do so :) , but don't flame for my stupidness if it was all wrong  .

Did he choose not to play? Or was it the coach?

I don't expect this to happen, because it will affect his legacy. When you think of the best players of all time, who are 3 main guys who stand out? Michael Jordan, lifetime Chicago Bull (the Wizards stint...it never happened). Larry Bird, lifetime Celtic. Magic, lifetime Laker. Now Cleveland isn't as prestigious a city as Chicago, Boston or LA, but it will do

that was in the times when superstars stuck with their teams. These days, players will make an excuse to go elsewhere.

Agreed. Today its all about the money, back then players were loyal to their respective teams. Look at Vince Carter.

..or former Orlando Magic stat-padder Tracy McGrady.

At least KG and AI are still trying to be loyal (even though Philly management is dangling AI to other teams).

As far as I know TMac didn't tell the other team what play they were going to run because he was unhappy with his team. I used to like Vince, but that is wrong.

I'm not sure if you could say T-mac was purely playing for stats... he was just the best player on a very crappy team when they only had about 20 wins... At least his ass got moved out of Orlando... I beleive he demanded a trade to get to a better team, if that's right, I wouldnt call it playing for stats.

That's what Carter did.

EDIT: Even T-Mac admitted he was stuffing his stats in Orlando.

How he played for Toronto in the end when he didn't want to play anymore was hopeless... still, everytime he returns to Toronto, he kills them...

As for TMac, shame on him. But yeah, if he did admit to stat stuffing, I won't say no more; as bad a Vince maybe...

I guess it runs in the family.

This article sounds pretty much made up from thin air, but I doubt LeBron is going to spend his entire career as a Cavalier.

Well, an extreme way is for him to quit the Cavs and sign with the Knicks for the league minimum for 3 years. He will still get money from his endorsement deals and then sign for a huge contract in the offseason... wait... is that possible?

You can never know what may happen in a few years. Vince Carter looked like he was going to be a Raptor for life at one point but in this day and age there are so many factors to consider before you think a player is staying put for the rest of his career.

Loyalty is a two-way street, stars are expected to be loyal to a franchise that is not committed to winning? Lets be real, guys wanna win these days, so I don't blame your T-macs or VCs for bolting from subpar squads, I'm still wondering wth Kg is doing still in minnesota. If your team isn't making moves to improve you stay loyal to losing? Kobe "picked" his team when he entered the league.

As for Lebron to NY, its very realistic four or five years down the line he will most likely be at the peak of his game and popularity, and playing in one of the most media crazy cities will only multiply his bank account. And can anyone here truly tell me that in his shoes you would pass on 100s of millions more than what you have now? I know i wouldn't :D

LeBron may well end up in New York one day but again it seems unlikely it will be through the method Vescey is suggesting. Forget the fact it seems farfetched that LeBron and his agent would have planned it out so precisely down to the last detail years ahead of time without knowing what might happen in Cleveland and the financial situation of both the Cavs and Knicks in a few years' time, what the article is suggesting is impossible. LeBron cannot opt out of his contract in 2012 because it expires in 2011. For the rumour to come to fruition as described he'd need to sign another extension that would allow him to opt out in 2012.

Even if we assume for a moment that the rumour is true and that LeBron places himself in that position, getting to New York might not be so easy. The Knicks will probably still be way over the cap meaning at best he can sign for the MLE. The popular suggestion whenever LeBron to New York rumours surface is that by moving to a major market he'll double his endorsement deals to compensate for the paycut in his NBA salary, but such a deal would surely be considered tampering. I highly doubt the NBA would be keen on such an arrangement since the whole reason the salary cap is there is to even out the playing field in free agency and LeBron's rumoured endorsement bonus offers incentive and opportunity to cheat the salary cap.

Good post Andrew, I totally agree.

In my opinion, LeBron will win a championship in Cleveland and stay there. They need to make LeBron the Cavaliers number 1 priority, if they want to keep the road clear for the future.

I also agree with Andrew and keepnitgangsta1 i don't really see such a great player leaving his team who as keepnitgangsta1 said is goin to win a championship it makes no dam sense look at kobe he's been all his 10 years with the lakers and he sticked with them they didnt want to trade him and he didnt want to leave he got 3 rings and out of all his 10 years his made the playoffs 9 times wat else does he need fuck new york (sry knicks fans) but i honstly dont see Lebron goin to New York it dosnt look to real to see Lebron in a Knicks jersey

"LeBron's future son to join Knicks in 2026!"

LeBron 'swears' he plans not to wear a rubber next time he is "gettin' down with his boo" and high level source has given us the information that it will be a boy by the name of Jerious James. Jerious will command a high salary, but based on Isiah Thomas' math, they should have the cap room to sign him in 2026. Isiah commented on the situation "This is a happy day for the Knicks franchise, we plan on building around our future franchise cornerstone, Jerious, for the next 20 years and by that time we will have a team that is perfectly tailor made to compliment him" Jerious could not be reached for comment at this time.

Haha...
