I am a fan of both, but if Garnett is traded I would remain a Garnett fan but the Timberwolves are my #1 passion. Just like the Vikings, I love Randy Moss and Daunte Culpepper but the Vikings are still my team.

See the problem with Trading KG is that the wolves wont get anyone close to as valuable as he is. Everyone that is as good as him wouldnt be given up for him.

I liked how informal the letter appeared. It just wrote "Tony - Fan Relations" at the end.

The Sopranos come to mind when I see or hear the name Tony.

On a related note, Marc Stein notes some comments by Sam Smith in his latest Daily Dime:

It's also leading to harsher-than-ever criticism for KG, with my man Sam Smith writing earlier this week in the Chicago Tribune: "Is Garnett really a star if he missed the playoffs two straight years?"

As always, I have to bring up the fact that Oscar Robertson missed the playoffs four times in his prime, including two straight seasons. If he can still be proclaimed by some as the greatest of all-time, then the last two years shouldn't strip KG of "star" status.

You cannot win in the NBA with only one player. The team has been in every game for the most part this season thanks to Garnett, but it is so hard for a big man to be clutch in the NBA. We have had nobody who can stand up and take that clutch shot. That doesn't mean Garnett isn't a star, it just means that you can't rely on him to hit that big shot because it's so hard for him to even get the ball.

I agree completley. As a Wolves fan, I still can't understand how the Marko Jaric trade helped us at all. We lost our clutch shooter and a first round pick. If it's a situation where the Wolves are behind in a one possesion game with seconds to go, the other team is going to triple team him the entire possesion. KG isn't going anywhere. I already said that in this thread. The owner and KG himself have both said he doesn't want to go anywhere. Don't believe it. It's a lie.

I personally wouldn't go that far, but I do think he manages to avoid criticism because of the immunity players from that era seem to enjoy.

Just the double standards used when comparing eras and discussing players. Any criticisms against players from that era is almost always quickly dismissed as "irrelevant" or severely downlplayed, while any negative aspect of the following eras and generations of players is promptly trotted out and used against them.

If Minnesota really is playing with their weakest team it's disrespectful to the NBA. It's really a shame if teams still playing for the playoffs winning their game against Minnesota because they are playing without KG while he's healthy.

cause all the movers and shakers are from that era. Either they played then...or were fans then. People will not allow what they know and love to be impugned. In another 30 years...jordan's era will be in control and that era of short players and lax rules will be downplayed.
