When Detroit need someone to step up, Billups is the man. So what if Orlando beat them? It's only one game and yes, Rip is an important part to the Pistons and I'm not doubting that. However, Billups is still MVP wrothy IMO.

he aint clutch.the last time i check the stats..he was 5-22 for clutch shots

Clutch isnt neccesarily last second shots - Billups turns it on with a few minutes left, not a few seconds.

Is Kobe clutch? He was at 6 for 25 at one stage... Stats dont tell the whole story.

Obviously with the competition Billups will be underated, but at the last games he's shown that he's the shyt. It would be nice to see him be a candidate though (Y) But to win MVP he would have to go through about 20 others KObe, King James, McGrady, Wade, AI etc.

I don't think Billups will get the MVP because the Pistons have gotten a reputation for playing collective team basketball. Although it is a good thing, it makes people downplay Billups as a part of the success, not a reason for it. Since every player on the starting lineup on the Pistons compliments each other so well, I don't think Billups will be getting it.

Billups has improved as a player in this league, but MVP status for the regular season, no way. He does nothing, IN MY OPINION that put him above any other player on the Pistons team. They play like a tight nit group, but no one player stands out. Yes, he plays the PG position, the toughest position to play in the league, but he's not MVP, nor is his play MVP caliber. Again, he has improved as a player but not a serious MVP candidate. If anything Ben & even Sheed are more important but really with the way they play you can't make an accurate decision, though you could make a popular one. If Billups is MVP then surely Tony Parker is too, an perhaps even more so.

MVP? No, of course not. For the same reason as Nash.

But to call him "an all-star at best" is foolishness. This year only 10 players have outproduced him, and only two points guards have. And Billups is a better defender than one of them. Yeah the last few years he's been "an all-star at best" especially under Brown's system when he didn't get to freelance. But the guy has been playing out of his mind this season. (Billups and Nash both combine a top five TS% with a top thirty usage rate. Only Arenas' top 20 TS% and top six usage rate is close to being as efficient and prolific.)

I'm sure Billups won't mind, he already has one Finals MVP, almost won another last year...and probably will get another shot at one.

I have Chauncey Billups as my MVP this year. He is one of the best all-around players in the league right now. He has some amazing range, he has a good post up game for a point guard, he has good court vision and he is one of the best defenders at his position in the league. He also has that ability to be "clutch" and carry his team down the stretch. Not to mention he is on the best team in the league.

I think that adds up to a quality MVP pick. He's my MVP.

this is where i disagree.....Billups is irreplaceable to the Pistons....Kidd & Nash can replace how he controls the tempo of the game, but Nash can't defend like Billups and Kidd can't score like Billups can.

I'm not saying he should be MVP, but on this Piston team he still stands out.

imo Nash is still and my MVP but if the Pistons won 70, came close to the Bulls record or broke it but since these feats are now impossible obviously, Billups should be MVP.

I just read an article about Billups being the best choice for MVP this season... oh my gosh what happened to those days when players ala Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan were MVPs???

Yeah I read that too. Yeah... how come it can't just be the best players winning it? (ie. Kobe, LeBron, or even Dirk) The casual fan doesn't want to see some guy that averages less than 20 points and less than 10 assists win the MVP, when he has 3 other players that are All-Stars. I'm a bit bias though... I hate Billups... with a passion... always have, always will. Only Pistons I like at Rip, Big Ben, and PRINCE. :P
