the magic are fucking smartarses... they unloaded a score first, score second player who wasn't taking them anywhere for a massive expiring contract, and in return received a player in ariza, who will be a solid starter in the future...

also getting arroyo and darko, who will team up with howard to be one of the most dominant front court duos in 5 yrs time, along with the development of nelson, who is a future all star, running the offense!

they will have heaps of cash after this season and will look to go after lebron or a similar calibur player, who will take them to the nba finals. period.

I don't think its in the Magic's interest to obtain another superstar. Dwight needs to be surrounded by role players that can give him more touches. I think Howard averages about 10 shots a game, but he's still averaging 15 ppg. It would be nice to have a second fiddle on the team though...

yeah maybe getting lebron wouldn't be justified! they'd have a shitload of money though, and after further developing howard, nelson and darko, maybe signing complementary players is the right way to go i.e. 3pt shooter, lock down defender etc., and revolve the offense around dwight... then they're looking a contender (in abt 3-5 yrs)! who are the magic looking at in the draft btw?

They've got the 5th highest payroll, Penny and Christie come off the books but they'll only get 5mil under the cap... plus they resigned Battie and Hill's huge contract comes off the books the year after. (excluding mid-level exception, i dont know whos getting paid that)

What I meant was that Dwight needs more touches. If you look at how many shots he takes a game, he obviously isn't given the ball as much as he should be getting it. He's averaging like 15 points per game without that many plays being run from him so adding someone like LeBron is going to take away more developement from the offensive end from him. LeBron would be nice, but he's practically out of the picture. If the Cavs continue to make the playoffs the next couple of seasons (which looks like its going to happen), then I don't see James leaving his hometown.

Orlando only has $21 million on the books for 2007. That is with Turkoglu, Howard, Darko, Arroyo and Nelson all under contract still. (Battie brings them to $24-27 million depending on how much it is.) Considering LeBron isn't a FA until 2007 or 2008 (more likely) that's fine since they're on the books for even less in 2008.

They won't have the cash this offseason, but I don't think they need to have cash this offseason since that could only lead to being wasted on a weak class.
