As A knicks fan , I officially am going to kill myself. I don't think it matters that he's adding more cap since the knicks won't be under the cap for another 4-5 years , if he gets 2-3 year contracts , then It's okay . But as long as he doesn't pull off another Jerome James or Jamall Crawford trade/sign , then we might be okay in 3-4 years...

Is Rose going to play as a Knick today? And is Davis going to play as a Raptor?

nah most NBA players don't live in the city they play in. Unless they're like a franchise player... They usually rent really nice apartments or chill in hotel suits (if they have nice contracts. :P)

I have a feeling Jalen is a non-factor to this, i wonder if he'll even get significant minutes. Need a jump-shot happy wingman that can't defend? Take a number.

Looks like they traded a 1st round pick to get rid of a fat contract 1 year earlier. So basically, $16M for a 1st round pick.

Not sure how i'd feel about that if i were a Raptors fan.

Knicks get blown out (again) by the Raptors. I think Thomas picked up Rose before this game so Rose wouldn't torch us again , but I guess they don't need Rose to kill us.

Ain't it ironic that Rose got traded to Toronto for Davis and now they being traded for each other again?

edit-
Anyway good trade for the knicks I guess. Davis expiring contract means nothing to the knicks cause they still going to be way over the salary cap next year regardless. As long as it wasn't a 6 yr contract we acquired its cool..
Besides Rose will help the knicks
Davis, Lee, Malik Rose, Frye, Taylor all were PFs on the knicks.

Ariza, Woods were the only SFs we really had. Rose now gives us something else to play at the SF rather than have Lee play out of position..
Rose can contribute to the team no doubt with his scoring

His contract is out next year...along with Houston, Taylor, and Anderson so it all works out... thats about $50mill right there off the books next year.. that's when the knicks can start considering being under the salary cap.. after next season.. ( btw im getting the salaries off of http://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_york.htm )

I'm amazed Isaiah is able to keep his job. It's as if he is intentionally searching for ridiculously overpayed players so he can trade for them. I wonder when he will make a move for Adonal Foyle.

I think the last time that happened was Keith Van Horn for Tim Thomas on draft day 1997 and again in 2004 in that three team trade involving the Knicks, Bucks and Atlanta.

I think getting rid of our first rounder was worth it. Hopefully Denver notches a playoff spot and the pick won't be too high, but they're playing like shit.

Whats good about the trade is the cap space obviously. Rose makes 32 million over two years compared to 12 million. I think that saves a lot of money and considering the fact that Mike James is considering his opt out, this money could prove to be very useful since Bosh has stated that he would like to keep James. So all in all, its a move to help keep Bosh happy and land Mike James a huge pay day. I don't like the latter part, but Bosh's commitment to the Raptors weighs in much more importantly than anything else.

Denver will get into the playoffs, but Isiah has proven he can draw water from a stone with late draft picks. As for the trade.. It's not encouraging that Isiah is willing to trade an expiring contract for a longer one with an overpaid and aging player. But the more I think about it, Rose can help New York. He will probably start ahead of Nate Robinson (thank fucking god) and Davis' starting spot should be either Ariza's or Frye's, which will help. Theres no point to tanking the season for the draft pick, becuase it's chicago's, and i spose it doesnt make all that much sense to let Davis' contract expire becuase New York is so over the cap it wont matter.

Plus the first round pick will help.

are they possibly going after przbylla (sorry, cant spell his damn name)? many realgm posters are thinking this though i doubt they will be able to get joel. its as if we got jalen rose's numbers for antonio davis' contract (we traded away davis for rose).

By the way, the realgm people were also saying how theres a trading triangle between the knicks-raptors-bulls where they just giving each other their shit.

Is Isaiah really that much of a genius though?

It wasn't exactly hard to get good players out of that draft. Diogu, Granger, Luther Head, McCants, Simien, Antoine Wright, Jarret Jack...there are a lot of players in that 1st round that will probably stay in the NBA.

If this forum made picks from last year draft, i'd bet it would have done at least as well as Isaiah :P

Staying in the NBA is one thing, but Frye looks like a significant peice to the Knicks future plans. The only rookie playing better than him is Chris Paul.

I saw this rumored trade at another website - Ruben Patterson & Theo Ratliff for Frye and Penny Hardaway. Now if Isiah is dumb enough to make that move, this long-time Knick fan is done with this franchise until they clean house, from Dolan on down. Hopefully that's just a rumor.
