Larry Brown vs. Knicks

Sure the cards are stacked against him now but it's pretty sad that some people are just kicking a man while he's down, especially a Piston Fan like Matt who got to see Billups and Wallace mature into the players they are now & see the Pistons win a championship

What, i was kicking him while he was down all of last season too, i desperately wanted him fired because of the stupid shit he was doing. For all the good things he did with the vets he sure as hell never helped the young guys apart from bag them in public.

it wasn't limited to just rookies- he would bag the whole team in public. He does the all this stupid shit but the Pistons were 1 game away from the winning the championship. Detroit didn't lose the Finals because Brown wasn't praising the rookies, that's for sure

The Pistons have been contenders for a few years now- why are you still ragging on him for not helping young players? Phil Jackson & Pat Riley, perhaps the 2 greatest coaches from the last 2 and half decades, seldom rely on rookies or pump them up in the press lol

I can't fault Brown as much as I fault the players and the GM. Brown has a championship and a proven record. Most of the players on the Knicks haven't even been past the 2nd round of the playoffs

But hey- I won't be complaining if NYK continues to lost a lot in the next 2 seasons

So now it's his fault for accepting the job and instituting the same principles he's used with the other teams he's coached??

Probably Brown should compromise some but the players are tuning him out ALREADY allegedly! You don't let the inmates are run the asylum

I'm sure he did I think it was just the fact it was his dream to coach New York with the confidence that he can turn this roster into a good thing... but so far, it looks like trouble.

Larry's been moaning about having to teach these cats basic basketball skills during practice. He's dropped hints that he's not happy with the team Isiah put together. Well sh!t, what did he think was going to happen? We all knew the Knicks would suck this season.

That old saying is so true - "Be careful what you wish for..." He said his dream job was coaching the Knicks. Well, the dream has turned into a nightmare - we have one of the worst owners in the NBA, a GM with no clue and we're in salary-cap hell. No way Brown stays for the long haul.

It was already mentioned already- Brown bithes and moans at every stop of his NBA coaching tour. this is nothing new. He's even used that "dream job" line at every stop as well. It was pretty funny- ESPN played a short clip of the press conferences and he said the same thing every time

And The Knicks complaining sound like a bunch of pussies to me. Do what he says and maybe they won't be stinking it up so bad losing by 20 and 30 to the Hawks and Lakers.

That may be so, but it would seem Brown isn't even willing to set the record straight. He's right to criticise, he's right to coach. But I say if he can't be bothered to meet with his players - even if it's just to say "I hear you, but all the same, shut up and play" - there's an element of his coaching that isn't right. That's really the only thing I'm criticising.

What Larry Brown has accomplished in the NBA demands respect, without question. But you can't sit on your laurels. He can't expect to keep that respect if he doesn't do the right thing by his players. If a young player is going to show some maturity and ask if he can sit down with the coach, discuss what's going on, clear the air and come to an understanding, the least the coach can do is give him a moment. The coach doesn't need to cave, he can put the player in his place. But refusing to meet with players basically says "Shut up, do what I say, I don't care what you have to say." How can a young player respect a coach when he's the one being immature, no matter how successful he's been?
