I wish Indy started Sarunas @ 1...that'd be a dream for all Pistons fans.

i think he's one of the worst defenders, especially after the way Billups, Wade and others repeatedly embarassed him.

Lindsey Hunter is still a good defender!!!

what difference does it make- Billups & Wade routinely embarass most of their oppostion.

even when Gary Payton is 6 feet under, Gloveguy will still be placing him on the league's current best defenders list :lame:

Yeah, I know you guys want us to get rid of Tinsley, but lemme tell you, Sarunas is a better backup PG then any backup PG you guys will EVER get! At least we've got that on you... :?

Larry Hughes is overrated, in my opinion. I'd rather have Greg Buckner than him. Even though I hate the Denver Thuggets I love Greg Buckner. I think he is great. He is all that and a bag of chips.

but he's still a better defender then buckner despite your man crush on him

Hughes gambles and gets into the passing lanes, similar to guys like Lebron, Wade and Iverson. But I'd rather have a guy like Greg Buckner or Trenton Hassell who can be isolated on the wing with a guy like Kobe, Tmac or Lebron and force that player into a tough shot. There is no such thing as an easy basket with those guys on it. That's kind of defender I like.

I was impressed by Pietrus & Josh Smith last year.

Maybe i was overly scarred when he defended a 3 on 1 Bulls fast break and blocked Nocioni's dunk so cleanly Nocioni was hanging on the rim wondering where the ball went.

If you actually watched the game, they replayed it and showed that AI stepped on his shoe.

I agree with Riot for the most part, except i'd slot Eddie Jones in the last slot instead of Patterson.

1) Ron Artest
2) Bruce Bowen
3) Trenton Hassell
4) Tayshaun Prince
5) Shane Battier
6) Greg Buckner
7) Jacque Vaughn
8) Kobe Bryant
9) Andre Igoudala
10) Eddie Jones

That's right. The guy's smart as hell. Plus, respect of the referee is often overlooked and Payton definitely has that.

He also shut down Reggie Miller in last year's playoffs.

um, Reggie Miller didn't need shutting down.

true, however theres guys out there that make them earn their points, West isn't one of those.

Yeah, I know you guys want us to get rid of Tinsley, but lemme tell you, Sarunas is a better backup PG then any backup PG you guys will EVER get! At least we've got that on you...

Too bad he can't play D :D I'm fine with L Hunter at the PG spot, and Carlos Arroyo doesn't scare me that much this season.

I was going to say the same thing. Check the clip of AI 'crossing' him up again and you'll see how he forced Iverson from the 3pt-line back to almost halfcourt, making AI look like a mediocre dribbler.. then that crossover-thing happened.

I just wanted to add Posey in there because I'm biased and I don't know shit about Vaughn.

There is no doubt that Prince is a better defender then Iggy AT THIS POINT.

Check the stats. Before Game 4, when they put Payton on him, he had just dropped 33 and 28 point games on the Celtics. He didn't score more than 12 points the rest of the series.

hughes gambles for steals but not every single time. his quick hands/long arms make him a tough, on ball defender. btw- iverson's defensive PER is amongst the best at is position

buckner plays decent defense but it's overrated since that is his only strength. he's labeled a defensive specialist yet he's not spectacular at it. it's false advertising

your man crush on him doesn't make him a better defender ;)

lol wtf so you're agreeing with me that if Gary Payton was dead, you'd be still be naming on the league's current best defenders list :lame:

smarts, craftiness, breaks from the refs are irrelevant if you're not alive

glove- you seldom post here anymore but you sure let it be known when you do post that you are in a fantasy world when it comes to Gary Payton

Amazingly, Riot's list is the best so far  Have to agree with he's out of the lists posted. Even though I wouldn't exactly put it in the same order.

Greg Buckner is a great defender, that dude has some skills. And he isn't an offensive threat but he has some range and he can hit the open jumper. He's very similar to one of my favorite players, Trenton Hassell.
