With or without Finley the Spurs will be early favorites.

Van Exel is a good addition for a very good team. Last year in the playoffs Pops used basically Horry and Barry off the bench with the other players playing limited minutes (when they played). With NVE they have another quality option off the bench...

Pistons will be the main competition? I don't see them beating the Heat this time. Wade was injured last time around, given that doesn't happen, I don't see Detroit beating Miami. Not with the coach change and all. With an injured Wade they took it to like 7 games, with the added pieces, I don't think tis possible.

Spurs vs. Miami I thinks. It'll be interesting to say the least.

it's a bit premature to pencilling in who will be participating in/winning the east finals and who will be in the nba finals imo

the pistons have a new coach but they still have the same core of players. imo miami has more question marks- no one knows what the starting lineup will be and whether the new guys acquired are a good fit

NVE wasted no time and he called Finley trying to get him to go to SA.

agreed, also with this being their first year playing together with so many new faces to insert at such a short time with an aging Diesel leaves lots of questions, even if on paper they are dangerous. The contrast is that if S.A. signs Finley as well he and Van Excel won't bother the chemistry much because of the nature of the Spurs team and the role they will play for the team. I still say look out for the Pacers and the Pistons' offense should be wide open with Flip there.

hope Finley goes 1. Min or 2. Suns

I'm prepared to say that the NBA champion will be on of 3 teams.....Detroit, Miami or..........Indiana....yes, i dont think ANY west team will beat those 3 East.

Popovich said that he would be surprised if Finley doesn't go to Phoenix... There he would be a starter, play a lot of minutes, fight for a championship and would be with his buddies Nash and Bell.
He could sign with PHX for one year at the veteran minumun and re-sign next year for more money or, if the things doesn't go well this year, go somewhere else...

Yeah. And I said early favourites after i wrote down 'back to back fo sho'
Anyways, Finley is more of a team player man... and TD is the definite number 1 guy, there's no feuding o nthis team. They have a big chance to win if they sign Finley IMO

You mean they have a bigger chance. The Spurs are already favorites to win it again next year, but for competition, I'd like to see Finley go to Phoenix.

Very low risk move for the Spurs since they didn't break up their core to acquire him. If he doesn't pan out, it won't be a huge problem.
