The Knicks have done a quite a lot in the offsesaon. First thing they got the big men they need with Frye and James. They got a good young bench with Ariza, Nate, Lee and Sweetney. They have addressed their three point shooting inablity with the addition of Q. And ofcourse they have added Larry. These moves doesnt make them a championship contender like NJ and MIAMI but they have started to take the step in the right direction in along time, thanks to Isiah.

Indy and San Antonio..then Cleveland..being someone who watches A LOT of european basketball, i think adding Sarunas and Oberto is very smart move..If he gets minutes, watch Oberto start at C by december..same goes for Sarunas (Tinsley will probably get hurt again :x )..On the paper though, Miami seems to have done the best moves..but I just really don't see Walker starting at SF ..if they move him in front of Haslem, they'll be making a huge mistake..maybe he should come off bench :?:

Miami is the best right now. I think they have the best starting line up, but not really good players on the bench.

I don't think they had a stellar bench last year either, and look how well they did. Besides, Posey's coming off the bench, so that's an improvement right there.

Indiana, Houston and - call it blasphemy - Lakers, who got PJ back along with decent prospects and a guy who will allow Odom to move back to the SF. And - my heart hurts when I'm writing this - Knicks did a good job, too. They got Larry Brown, which means they're definitely going to reach the playoffs (hey, he even did it with the Clippers), they got some size at the C, one of the potentialy biggest jersey-selling players in Nate and they improved depth at the PF position with yet another undersized big (N).

Its going to be Miami....D-Wade is going to be the MVP...plus Shaq the most dominant player after Wilt..Isn't it surprising,Shaq can do all the damage even though this season must be his retirement season...

Miami signed Shaq to a 5 years contract and he will not retire after this season. Shaq is not as dominant as he were with the Lakers but he is still effective in his first season in Miami. It just the injury that is bothering Shaq otherwise he should still be able to put down 20pts and 10rbs every nights.

San Antonio? Are you serious, they have made a roster change that has affected 10 minutes of their players courttime since they got Duncan and added Ginobili and Parker along the way.

Indiana didnt really get much, I dont see Sarunas starting for them. So he will regret going there I think, because he wouldve started in Cleveland.

I sure as hell hope Sarunas is smarter then your dumbass. If all he cared about was starting he would have signed there. He wants to win a championship, that's why he signed with the Pacers for less money.

Plus, how can you say Indiana didn't get much just because Sarunas won't start? I think depth is probably the most important thing to have in a championship run. Sarunas also isn't the only guy we got, we drafted Danny Granger, a top 5-10 player in the draft, and got Ron Artest back.

If we're talking about how much better a team will be over last season, you can't possibly say the Pacers didn't improve more then any other team.

Shaq can do all the damage even though this season must be his retirement season...

  If that proves to be true, then woe to Arizon and Riley who booked him for 5 years and a cool 100 million dollars...

As for the offseason winners so far:

1- Pacers: Just Artest being back guarantees the no.1 spot in this list. Plus Granger is said to be VERY NBA ready, and Jasikevicius will kick Tinsley from the starting lineup by November, at the latest.

2- SA Spurs: They resigned Horry. That is enough for a team who won the title and now manages to keep the core intact. If Devin stays too, even better. Not to mention Oberto, who is an improved version of Nazr...

3- Cleveland: Larry Hughes was the biggest name who moved teams... He copies LBJ's style and brings no outside consistency, but with Donyell and the possible addition of a PG who can shoot, the Cavs are totally revamped for the better, on paper.

4- Milwaukee: They got a center in Bogut, a new wing in Simmons and a new PG in the returning TJ Ford... With Desmond providing spark off teh bench for 25-30 minutes a game, they are also a greatly revamped squad.

I would have to agree that these two teams made some of the biggest improvements in the offseason, although as the Thread Title would suggest, I don't think either of these are the best teams.

I was replying in terms of his who are the biggest offseason winners, not who'll be the best team now. There's still no way of saying any of these teams will beat the Spurs or Pistons and neither of those teams have done much of anything.
